Team play PBEM, the world is at war!
This is Scenario #15 (long campaign), PBEM as teams. Knavey and Feinder are playing as the Allies, and Kbullard and LtFighter are Japan. Knavey is the USN, Canada, and China. Feinder is Britian, Dutch, Oz and the Kiwis. I have no idea how Kbullard and Ltfighter have divided up their responsibilities.

Military forces loyal to KBullard and LtFighter stage a coup in Japan. The plan is ruthless and well executed. The current regiem is ousted and the Emporer is currently "in protective custody" at the Imperial Palace. This represents a dismal failure of the Allied intelligence network, as a military coup was completely unforseen. United States Secretary of War Knavey, sends priority #1 dispatch to all Pacific Fleet units, to make ready for war. However, Japanese commandos from midget subs have cunningly managed to sever the telegraph cables leading to Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor will not recieve this war warning. Prime Minister Feinder notifies the South East Asia Command that war with this new military regiem is likely.

6 carriers of the IJN manage a surprise attack against Pearl Harbor. While still at her moorings, the USS Maryland suffers 6 torpedo hits, and goes down with great loss of life. Hickham Field is also severly craterd, which will cut short efforts to riposte the sneak attack by Japanese forces. USAAC fighters give a good accounting of themselves however, and approximately 40 of Japan's elite pilots die on the first day of the war.
Meanwhile, Japanese forces have landed on the Malay Penensula. RAF and RDAF bombers and torpedo planes are scrambled to harass the enemy invasion forces.
Enemy units have also landed on the northern shores of the Phillipines. The militia units have fallen back in retreat, while regular US Army forces prepare to defend further inland. The light carrier "Ryujo" is spotted by B-17s and attacked, but unfortunately no hits are scored.

Aircraft from the carrier Lexington have spotted and attack the enemy invasion force at Wake. USN dive-bombers score several hits on 3 light cruisers, and an enemy transport. The ferocity of the USN attack has forced the enemy landing force to retire, thus stranding their own assault troops on the beaches. Our Marines on the island continue to bombard the invaders, attempting to disrupt them before they can secure their beach head. Our only loss thus far, has been a tractor that was damaged when a 6" shell from an enemy cruiser destroyed the machine shop, in which it was parked. As day falls to dusk, the enemy vessals burning on the distant horizon cast an eerie illumination of the southern sky.
Imperial landing forces have also come ashore Guam. The USS Penguin managed to evacuate the the 12 Marines (and their dog) which were the only US military personell on the island. While it is unfortunate to have been forced to apandon the island, the Marines and the USS Penquin are now steaming at best speed towards friendlier waters.
Japanese troops continue to storm ashore on the northern beaches of the Philipines. Selected militia units have been ordered to provide rear-guard action, while the remainder of the our Philipine allies fall back to prepared positions inland. Extensive damage to the facilities at Clark Field has hindered our ability to intercept the waves of bombers overhead, or to attack the transports that continue to spew troops onto the beaches. At 2pm local time, the IJN light carrier Ryujo launched several airstrikes against unarmed civilian merchants attempting to flee the area. 2 vessals reported being hit, and have sent out urgent distress calls. United States Naval assets have been sortied to locate and destroy the Ryujo, and to protect the fleeing non-combatants from further Imperial agression.
Enemy troops continue to storm ashore in Malaya. Fighters from our allies in the RDAF provided air cover, while our own RAF torpedo bombers successfully damaged what has been identified as an enemy battleship. A torpedo was seen to impact the port aft quarter. Multiple explosions were noted erupting from the stern of the ship. Before returning to base, the radio operator noted that the target had taken on a substantial list. A sqall over the area however, prevented further airstrikes for the day.

US Navy destroyers sortied today from Pearl Harbor, and attacked several Japanese submarines that were patrolling near the Islands. There three confirmed sub kills, and 2 other probables; with no loss to our own forces. Meanwhile, the Japanese carrier striking force bombed a school and other facilities on the Johnston Island, 36 casualties were reported.
US carriers continued to pursue the retreating amphibous force that had invaded Wake Island, just two days before. Local weather prevented further flight opersions however. Meanwhile, the defenders of Wake Island continue to show stiff resolve against the Imperial troops.
Japanese aircraft, submarines, and surface raiders continue to attack civilian transports around the Phillipines. The liner "Taurus" was evacuating a group of blind and deaf children, when it was attacked by the IJN light cruiser Natori. Ignoring the distinct flags and markings that distingued it as a non-combatent, it was ruthlessly attacked and sunk. American small craft are being dispatched to pick up survivors, despite the risk of other enemy raiders in the area.
Fierce ground combat has erupted all along the Malay Pensula. Our estimates are that, the Japanese has landed about 5 Divisions, and have considerable heavy naval support. Our RAF bombers continued to attack Imperial assault forces on the beaches of Malaya. Particular effort was also placed on trying to finish off the Japanese battleship that was crippled on the previous day. No major hits were observed however.

It is appearent that the empire of Japan has quickly embarked on an doctrine of unrestricted submarine warfare. Secretary of War Knavey has announced that Allied submarines will respond in kind. Allied submarines will now attack any enemy vessal that is either a warship, or any vessal thot to be carrying supplies, or any materials that could futher promote the Axis war effort. Futhermore, USN and RN "hunter-killer" TFs confirmed the sinking of two more IJN submarines. In a third ASW attack, a large oil-slick and debis was observed, but the sinking of the enemy submarine could not be confirmed.
IJN heavy surface groups continued to bombard our defenders of the Malay Penensula. Our forces at Khota Baru were forced to retreat south to better defensive postions in the mountains; but not before extracting a heavy toll on the Japanese landing forces. Our RAF/RDAF bombers and torpedo planes, continue their attacks aginst the bombardment and invasion task forces. It is appearent that the Japanese battleship damaged 2 days ago, has managed to limp back to safer waters however. While it it disappointing that we could not peform the coud-de-gras and finish her off, we are encouraged that the damage to her will likely take several months to repair.
The Japanese carryier Ryujo continues to attack neutral shipping near the Philipine Islands. A Portuegues sloop that was sent to retrieve their representatives in Davo was torpedoed and sunk. Furthermore, our small rescue craft sent to retrieve survivors of the liner "Taurus" were intercepted and sunk by Imperial destroyers. This heinous act by the IJN will be avenged.
In a bold move, the Japanese dropped to paratroopers into the Dutch airfield at Miri. RDAF officials believe this was conducted by refitting medium bombers in order to carry the paratroopers farther than the range of their existing conventional transports. While Prime Minister Feinder was duely impressed by the innovation of our enemy, he has ordered the elite Vig-Boer-Greup fighter squadron to intercept the paratroopers on they next forray. In turn, communiques have been sent to Secreatary of War Knavey that research should be made towards the possible refitting a squadron of our own long-ranged B-17s, to respond in kind if the opportunity arises.
The Japanese refueling base at Woleai was mysteriously raided in early hours before dawn. Radio and power equipment were successfully disabled before the Japanese garrison was able to muster. As dawn led on to morning none of the raiders could be found. The confused IJN base commander observed that the Japanse battle-ensign had was missing, and been replaced with a black flag with a skull-and-cross-bones. Also the portrait of the Emporer had been stolen, and several cases of sake were missing. The only traces of the raiders were a few boot and paw(?) prints...

Allied hunter-killer groups continued to prosecute IJN submarines. Several Japanese submarine contacts were made and attacked. The HMS Electra was able to confirm the sinking of I-156 after rescuing and interrogating survivors.
Aircraft from the USS Enterprise and Lexington were able to find and attack the (presumed) replentishment convoy for the IJN carrier strike force. Eight enemy tankers and their two escorting destroyers were attacked by our dive-bombers and torpedo planes. After several strikes, all ships in the enemy task force had suffered mulitple bomb and torpedo hits. Three of the tankers sank very quickly, and it is expected that the other vessals will follow suit in the next 48 hours. Annialating the fuel source of the enemy carrier strike group, should curtail its operations in the South Pacific until it can reach port and refuel.
Japanese naval forces continued to attack neutral shipping fleeing the Philipines. Heavy units of the Royal Navy been dispatched to intercept the Japanese raiders. We expect that the armor, and 15" guns of the Prince of Wales and Repulse, will be able to handily dispatch any of the enemy vessals that have thus far been spotted.
Our "String-bag airforce" in Malaya attacked japense cruisers and shipping near Songkia. Two enemy transports took sevearl torpedo hits and are assumed sunk.
In a bold night operation, Japense Paratroopers surprised our seaplane base at Sandakan. 6 flying boats of the RDAF that were in the lagoon, were burned. However, our seaplane tender was able to get under-way in time to prevent its capture.

The Japanese carrier stike force that attacked Pearl Harbor last week, has been constantly shadowed by own Cataline patrol aircraft. USN submarines have been vectored into the area, and USS Pompano was rewarded with a clean shot at the IJN carrier Akagi. Sonor operators reported hearing a low resounding "bong" as the torpedo impacted the carrier; however it failed to detonate. Japense escorts subject the Pompano so a severe depth-charging, but Pompano was able to make a timely escape. Now without a replentishment TF to refuel from, the Japanese carrier fleet faces a long trip home, as more of our submarines continue to be vectored into the area.
Our defenders at Hong Kong were defeated by an overwhelming assault by Japanese ground forces. Our commanding General has offered his honourable surrender, and expects reasonable treatment under the Articles of War described in the Geneva Convention.
Japanese marines at Wake Island have failed to secure a beachhead. Altho cut off from supply and reinforcement, they refuse to surrender.
Japanese medium bombers from newly captured bases in the northern Philipines pressed their attacks on our own men and installations at Clark Field and Manilla. Our forces in the Philipines continue to offer stiff resistance to the Japanese invasion forces.
Our few remaining bombers at Clark Field have been able to drive off the CVL Ryujo. The light carrier and her accompanying escorts were seen fleeing east towards Palau. However, several squadrons of IJN heavy warships have been spotted in the north of the Philipines chain. The Nagato, Fusu, Ise and many heavy cruisers were positiviely identified by pilots of VP-201 as they observed the enemy fleets bombarding our facilities on the north end of the island.
A combined task force of British and Dutch warships attacked a flotilla of Japanese destroyers near Menado. Led by the Prince of Wales, our task force was able to sink 3 of the enemy destroyers. The HMS Encounter suffered some damage to one of her turbines during the battle, but she is still be able to keep up with our task force without issue.

In the pre-dawn hours, TF Nelson, a Royal Navy hunter-killer group operating off the west coast of Borneo, attacked and destroyed another IJN submarine. While cautiously awaiting dawn to rescue survivors, Capt Riddel of the HMS Express was notified of a distress call from the Dutch transport RNN Buyskens, which had been torpedoed. The search for surviors from the submarine was called off, due to the urgency of the distress call from the Buyskens. A Do54 flying boat from the RDAF squadron operating out of Brunei, will patrol the area in the morning, and pick up any IJN survivors.
RAF bombers in Malaya continued to attack Japanese ground and naval forces assaulting the Malaya penensula. The airfield at Khota Bharu was cratered, in order to deny its use to the Japanese invaders.
Due to the constant over-flights of Thailand by our RAF, our small garrisons at Victoria Point and Tavoy were able make an orderly retreat in front of numerically superiour IJN ground forces. Various formations of the British and Indian Armies are preparing positions in Burma to hold steadfast against the Japanese invaders.
Word has reached us that, after a week of relentless attacks, the Chinese city of Yenen succombed to domination by the Imperial Japese Army. Military advisors are being airlifted to Chunking, to work closely with the warring factions of Chaing-Kai-Shek and Mao-Se-Tung. It is our intention to compell the two Chinese leaders to at least work cooperatively against the Japanese Armies attacking their homeland.
Divebombers from the USS Lexington continued to prosecute the scattered remnants of the IJN replentishment convoy. Meanwhile, sailors and airmen aboard the USS Enterprise noted with pride that, in yesterday's propaganda broadcast, that Tokyo Rose referred to the USS Enterprise as "The Grey Ghost".
A convoy of enemy vessals has been sighted north of Rabaul, by Hudsons of the RAAF. Due to low-clouds, the exact make-up of the task force is unclear. Further flights will be conducted in the morning, to determine the exact composition of the taskforce, and to attack it if possible. Our own surface units operating in the area have been alerted, and are on the way to intercept.

Black Cats from Bataan launched a night attack against an IJN troop convoy marshalling north of the Phillipines. A single transport was hit by several torpedoes, and many successive explosions were seen as the PBYs exited the area.
2 Dutch transports carrying troops and supplies away from less defenseble positions, were torpedoed by IJN submarines as they neared their destination ports. Most of the troops being transported were able to wade ashore however, before the vessals sank.
Our own ASW task forces continue to scour all theaters of the Pacific, to blunt the threat of IJN submarines. Working closely with our own land-based patrol aircraft, our ASW forces were able to convifrm the destruction of submarines off the coast of Java and the US west Coast.
Meanwhile, our own USN and RDN submarines continue to attack enemy shipping. 3 more vessals carrying valuable supplies and war material were torpedoed and sunk. Furthermore, light Blenheim bombers attacked and damaged several IJN transports near the Malay Penensula.
TF Blakeny, flagged by the HMS Prince of Wales is attacked by enemy long-range bombers from Palau. AAA gunners are able to successfully drive off the enemy bombers and no ships were damaged. However, 5 enemy aircraft are claimed shot down.
Our forces on Wake Island are able to wipe out the last of the enemy beachhead. The Japanese landing force put up a determined defense, but cut off from supplies and further reinforcement, their fate was sealed.

Do24 patrol aircraft have spotted several IJN CVLs in task force, south of the Philipines. Several squadrons of TV-1 torpedo bombers and Martin 139s are hastily deployed to the Celebes to counter the threat. Several strikes are launched against the enemy TF, but no hits are claimed. Constantly harried by our RDAF bombers, the enemy task force was observed to be retreating eastwards, back to Palau.
Meanwhile, our RAF bombers in the Malay Pensula, working with our own submarines, continued to attack Japanese naval forces near Singapore and French-Indochina. Two Japanese escorts, and 3 transports are sunk before they are able to unload their cargo.
Two crippled Philipino freighters, that had sought refuge at the Dutch port at Menado, are overrun by IJN naval forces. Fortunately, the vessals had already been abandoned, and so the Japanese destroyers were only expending their torpedos on empty hulks.
Attacks by the Japanese Army in China have substantially increased. It is also appearent that several additional squadrons of enemy fighters and bombers have been deployed to the theater. Chinese representatives in Dacca have informed us that Lingyan has fallen into Japanese hands, and are urgently reqesting Allied support at the earliest possability. Preparations are being made to deploy the American mercenary squadron, "The Flying Tigers" into China, in order to combat the increased enemy air threat.
RAAF Hudsons at Rabaul have spotted several enemy task forces north of New Britian. It is expected that this in an invasion force, along with it escorting surface group. Catalinas from Port Moresby are dispatched to shadow the invasion forces as they approach. Furthermore, a seaplane from the RAN heavy cruiser HMAS Canberra was able to spot a small task group east of Guadalcanal. A large low-pressure system blanketing the area hampers our efforts to confirm the exact size and disposition of the enemy's forces however.
In Burma, a large force of the Imperial Japanese Army is moving towards Moulmein. RAF bombers at Moulmein and Rangoon are dispatched to slow its advance as much as possible.

Admiral Wallace, in command of the rapid reaction force near New Britain, is faced with a dual threat against both Rabaul and Guadalcanal. Additional friendly units have arrived from Port Moresby and Townsville, and are available against the Japanese threats. The observation reports of the enemy task force heading to Guadalcanal, determine it to be the smaller force; meanwhile the fleet(s) heading to Rabaul appear to be comprised of multiple transports and 10 or more escort vessals, some of considerable size (altho no positive id of any of them is possible). Admrial Wallace decides to split off the aging (and slower) light cruiser HMAS Adelaide from his main task force, to counter the threat at Guadalcanal. Meanwhile, his own task force, comprised of the HMAS Canberra, USS Louisville, HMAS Leander, HMS Achilles, HMAS Perth, and the Free French destroyer Le Triomphant steam at full speed to Rabaul to engage the Japanese invasion force.
The HMAS Adelaide arrives at Guadalcanal before the enemy task force, and engages them near the shoals at Tassafaronga. The enemy invasion "fleet" turns out to be a transport and a single escort vessal. The HMAS ADelaide scores several direct hits against both vessals, and both are observed to be burning fiercely as down approaches.
Meanwhile, Admiral Wallace meets the enemy invasion force at Rabaul. The screen of Japanese escort vessals engage Admiral Wallace's group, and the battle joined. Early on, the USS Louisville scores several hits against the IJN light cruiser Kiso, and the Perth and Canberra quickly range an IJN destroyer. Through superiour maneuvering, and tracking and fire control of their radar, Admiral Wallace's force is able to hold the range to approximately 8000 yds. A desperate charge by several IJN destroyers to launch their torpedoes, proved no results. Meanwhile, two of the enemy destroyers suffered multiple hits from the angry guns of the Achilles and Leander. The Le Triomphant however, suffered several hits by shells from the enemy destroyers, and had to flee the battel crippled. It is expected that the light cruiser Kiso and 3 enemy destroyers have been sunk. However, Admiral Wallace's TF was -not- able to reach the enemy invasion task force, and fierce fighting along the north beaches has erupted. RAAF bombers from Rabaul and Port Moresby are being scrambled at first light, to attack the enemy invasion force. Damage control parties will work feverishly to save the crippled Le Triomphant. Meanwhile, Wallace's TF will attempt further engage the IJN invasion forces, and to drive off the enemy transports.
RDAF bombers attack an IJN task force heavy cruisers north of Borneo. A steadfast defense by the Japanese anti-aircraft gunners hower, manages to drive off out attack without any hits observed. British bombers and torpedo planes in Malaya however, claim to have sunk another IJN destroyer.
The lyngoyan orchards of the northern Philipines continue to flow with the blood of the fallen. Japanese landbased bombers dominate the skies over Clark Field and Manilla. Efforts to resupply the Philipines have been rebuffed by the overwhelming Japanese airpower. Under heavy attack from Japanese level bombers, US and Philipine forces grudginly retreat towards Clark Field and Manilla, but only after exacting a heavy toll on Imperial invasion forces. US engineers have been feverishly preparing a defensive perimeter centered around Bataan - Manilla - Clark Field. It is our present hope that our defenders in the Philipines can hold out until further relief can arrive.

Both navies continue to move ships into the bloody waters around Rabaul. Admiral Wallace continues his steadfast defense with with the Lousville, Achillies, Leander, Perth, and the damaged Canberra. Allied radar gives Admiral Wallace the upper hand during several engagements fought throughout the night. The IJN light cruiser Tama and 4 DDs are sunk. However, the Leander falls victim to a massive Long-Lance torpedo attack, takes several torpedo hits, and sinks. At approximatly 4am, the heavy cruiser Kako, along with several escorting destroyers and CLs arrive to bolster the failing Japanese position. Kako is pummeled by fire from the Canberra and Lousivlle, and several direct hits are scored. Kako returns fire, and Canberra is likewise damaged. As dawn breaks, Bettys from Truk are launched, and manage to land several torpedo hits on the light cruiser Achilles. She sinks shortly thereafter. While still screened from the Wallace surface group, Japanese assault troops begin to disembarking on the beaches of Rabaul.
Japanese Marines also land at bases in NW New Guinea. Allied surface units have been sent to intercept.
In the central Pacific, a massive invasion is launched against Wake Island, under cover of a large storm front. The invasion TF is not spotted in time for us to send a force to intercept it. The defenders of Wake mark a heavy toll on the invaders however. An enemy Destroyer is sunk, and 500 enemy casualties are exacted before Wake is forced to surrender.
Allied subs and medium bombers continue to menace IJN shipping in the Dutch East Indies. Several more transports, and their escorts are hit; 2 are believed sunk.
The AVG begins to make it's presense felt in China. A squadron of Japanese "Sally" medium bombers is intercepted over Wuchow, and 7 kills are reported. Furthermore, a large formation is engaged over Cheng-Sha. 5 enemy "Nates" are downed, with no losses of our own.
=======================================================
12-18-41
Having taken several punishing hits in the last 48 hours, the HMAS Canberra retreats to the south to join Le Triumphant at Shortlands. Admiral Wallace changes his flag to the Louisville. Also, a USN task force with the heavy cruiser Houston, and the light cruisers Boise and Marblehead reach the burning waters off Rabaul, after having run at full speed for the last 36 hours. The surface action near Rabaul degnerates into bloody brawl. With the waters litterally afire from burning ships and oil, visablity is greatly reduced. Houston and Boise concentrate their fire on the heavy cruiser Kako. Fires quickly run out of control, and the IJN flagship is sunk. In the true spirit of Bushido, the IJN Destroyers make another charge at the Allied line, to launch their torpedos. Skillful maneuvering and limited visablilty however impede the torpedo attack, and no hits are scored. 2 Japanese light cruisers heavily damaged, and several more IJN destroyers are sunk. BY noon, our Allied cruisers were breaking thru the screen of Japense escorts, when a distress call was recieved by the HMAS Canberra. Having steamed thru the night, and only 30 miles north of the anchorage at Shortlands, the Canberra is attacked by aircraft of the Hiryu, Soryu, and Zuikaku. The already damaged Canberra was soon overcome by the massive air attack, and sank. Having beaten the Japanse surface screen at Rabaul, Wallace is now faced with the immenent threat of aircraft from 3 IJN fleet carriers only 250 miles to his south.
The unglorious attrition of IJN shipping continues it's steady march. Several IJN convoys are attacked by USN/RN/RDN subs in the Dutch East Indies, 3 more transports are reported sunk.
Using skills and tactics learned in the European air war, British medium bombers begin a night bombing campaign of stratigic targets in French Indo-China.
=======================================================
12-19-41
Under the threat of three Japanese carriers, Admiral Wallace orders his cruisers to retreat. Japan has succeeded in screening our surface forces from their invasion. But at what cost? Our losses are that of a heavy cruiser, and 2 light cruisers. Whereas we can confirm the sinking of an enemy heavy cruiser, a light cruiser, and no less than 12(!) destroyers. Several other enemy vessals have been severly damaged, and may also be sunk. Surely, one must wonder if the Japanese can afford to pay such a high price...? With most of their assault troops ashore, the Japanese attack on Rabaul commences.
In Burma, IJA units are moving towards Moulmein, and under constant attack by RAF bombers.
Meanwhile, Dutch PT boats attack an IJN Convoy at Miri. One AP is sunk, and 2 others damaged.
=======================================================
12-20-41
With the reatreat Admiral Wallace's cruisers, Japanese Marines have landed at Lae and Shortlands. Allied naval forces in the region regroup, and prepare for their next counter-stroke. Japanese assault troops continue their relentless attacks on our base at Rabaul.
In China, several divisions are participating in heavy fighting at the chinese city of Cheng-Sha. Both sides have commited significant air and ground forces, and the battle rages both above and around the city of Cheng-Sha.
PT boats of the Royal Navy ambush a convoy near Khota Bharu. 2 PGs and 2 APs are sunk, one PT is damaged. The agile PT flotilla quickly retreats to the safety of Singapore's shore batteries.

=======================================================
12-13-41
=======================================================
12-14-41
=======================================================
12-15-41
=======================================================
12-16-41
=======================================================
12-17-41
=======================================================
=======================================================
=======================================================

What a pack of imperialist American LIES!!!
Our pilots while demonstrating Aerobatics were fired upon. Many of our brave pilots were lost. But thier wingmen instantly retaliated and suppressed the incoming fire in a purely defense manner.
The Emperor is simply sick he has been unwell and has taken a trip to the countryside to relax and unwind. He was under to much stress.
The Army and Navy continue to be the guardians of the government and the people.
We call on all oppressed peoples of the White Devils to through off the yoke of oppression and join in the Far East Co-prosperity Sphere.

Since turns will obviously take longer to do with more players, will you compensate by using two or even three-day turns?
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Ooops. Henderson changed to Hickham, different islands...[;)]
The "mechanics" of it are...
Japan Player #1 makes moves for his turn. Does -not- end.
Sends file (and password) to Japan Player #2.
Japan Player #2 makes his moves, and ends the turn.
Sends file to Allied #1.
Allied #1 makes moves, does not end.
Sends file and password to Allied #2.
Allied #2 makes moves, ends turn, and sends to Japan #1.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Only doing 1 day turns. Yes, we will be playing this game as great-grand-fathers. But oh well. To be honest, we're not that fond of 3 day turns, because what happens is, a player will launch an offensive or invasion, right at the edge of a 3-day move range, and the reacting player can't do anything about it for 3 days. I'd have done 2-days, but the same issue applies. We all agreed on 1-day turns, and that's fine. It just means we get to keep y'all entertained for longer...
