Reduced Ammo vs. Limited Ammo
I've noticed that on both the first two MC's, the recommendation is to use Limited Ammo. I am curious as to why?
I like using Reduced Ammo and thought that was what most people used who were going for the 'gritty realism' thing. Is there a problem with Reduced Ammo?
In a related vein, I am playing the STALINGRAD campaign and am in the first battle. I notice one of my AUX StuGs has 91 rounds of AP!!! Also, the AUX Pz-IVf2's all have 75 rounds of AP each. What gives? Then there are my measly core panzers with, like, 15-20 rounds with the Reduced Ammo setting...

There is no problem with reduced ammo except that you run out so fast! As for Stalingrad Campaign, what you see is a design technique to help the game system out. I set several ammo loads high so that if a Player chose Reduced Ammo On - He/She would have enough ammo to complete a mission with a few units while the rest runs out. Also, these help take on USSR Tanks! Several Times I had to up APCR rounds and HE rounds to help the player take out USSR strong points to be encountered in the game. The trick is balance when designing these things and using the Game system to do the balancing takes playing around with ammo loads etc..
I hope to have an update to Stalingrad Campaign in the near future. This Uopdate would add several new battles as well as improve game play.
Hope this Helps <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

ALBY: Thanks, I didn't know that.
MARAUDER: Well, I understand your point. Did you consider a few ammo trucks instead? I like to use them because it causes my forces to have to cycle from the front lines to the rear or to wait for final deployment while they stock up, and you can only afford to have but so many units out of action temporarily. Others might not like this, but I think it's cool. I especially like using Reduced Ammo as the Germans because they didn't have the USA's capacity on ammo - it's a good realistic game option.
By the way, really looking forward to your expanded update!

Just as a sidenote for those who do not know, the core force WILL NOT be limited in regular campaigns, from the 2nd battle onwards. The setting that gives your ammo between 50%-100% rate instead will ALWAYS give them 100% (it was this way in V6.1 anyway, and I have no reason to believe it's been corrected in the latest version.

Sorry Hit the send button before I could respond.
Concerning the Ammo Trucks, I left that up to Core Unit Purchase for players to decide. In Campaigns, I try to have atleast one Ammo Truck in core for any Mortars and Artillery units. In the Stalingrad Update, I may add a few ammo trucks.
Hope you enjoy the Campaign <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

richmonder: Sorry, I don't remember what the specific terms 'limited' and 'reduced' mean anymore. What I describe is the setting that will put a unit between 50-100% of their ammo capacity for weapons, at the start of each battle. The problem is, the WWII campaign doesn't function with that setting past the first battle. I would suspect the MCs are just as broke.
I know there's a setting where every unit starts off with full capacity and stays there throughout the battle. There's also another that starts out full at the beginning of every battle and the ammo gets used during the battle. There's also one that's supposed to start off every battle with 50-100% ammo load and get depleted as it's used, and that's the setting I'm talking about. Perhaps that is what is called the reduced setting?
