2nd PH Wave?

Post by Synjin »

How often do you get a 2nd PH attack during the PM cycle? I've yet to see one in the ~20 or so first turns I've run (with different historical/variable setups, but Surprise always set to ON).

Because of this, I usually only see a random DD or DM (or just a lone PT) sunk... and several times, nothing at all. If that 2nd wave would launch in the PM cycle, I'd finally get to see some more "historically accurate" damage, and even the odd case of a "better than historical" strike which sinks 3+ BBs. Anyone else notice this?

I just started a PBEM Historical/Variable/Surprise ON, me as the allies, and on the first turn he only sunk 1 measly PT boat (no 2nd wave). I actually feel bad for him. The most damaged BB isn't more than 70, with most being under 50 and one with just a scratch on the paint.

I have always got a second air attack on dec 7th

I do reset the Japanese attack parameters.

For example CAP is set to 50%. All fighters set to 10,000 feet (to avoid serious losses to this group of planes)

Vals set to 5,000 feet. 2/3rds of them set to Airfeild attack.

Kates set to 1,000 feet. I get lots of torpedo attacks them.
Last Pearl I had in just the first wave the USS Pennslyvannia got 15 !!! torpedo hits !

And was surprize on but NO historical turn.

Darn I should add.

I CHANGED the Japanese air commanders PRIOR to the attack.

For example the AKAGI Zeros I gave to CMD Fuchida. (I have no CLUE as to why he isnt the commander in scenario 15 ?)

Some of the otehr commanders I set to higher ranks like Lt Commander and Commander (but not the highly rated jr Commanders)

A leader's rank has no bearing whatsoever on performance. Only the leadership and inspiration numbers, coupled with the description regarding what type of unit they should command give you a clue as to their effectiveness...
