Bailing out

Post by Belaja smert »

Hi everyone,

I don´t know if somebody has brought this up before, but here goes...

Bailing out the crew from a damaged vehicle is a very good option, but it doesn't seem to function properly. On several occasions, when I have ordered men to bail out of a damaged vehicle, they exit ok, but have no movement points left and jump back in on the next turn! This happened several times for a single crew, they were not fired upon and had no suppression. Maybe when you bail out a crew they should not be able to board the vehicle again or should always be able to move away from the vehicle before the next turn.

Another thing that has caused me a LOT of frustration is that when tanks crash into buildings they seem to get stuck most of the time. In my opinion I should be able to crash through wooden buildings without getting stuck all the time, at least with my tanks, APCs and such are another story. I don't know if stone and wooden buildings are specified separately in the game, but they should be.

BTW Great game guys! Been playing it all the time, took even a 4 day vacation from work...

Well, I haven't tried bailing out yet but it seems to me that the crew certainly should have movement to clear the area in the case of a voluntary bail out (the vehicle still had movement left, didn't it?).
In the meantime you can just have another vehicle load the crew as passengers and move them away like that instead.

The same thing happened for several turns in a row. The crew had no movement left even when bailing out immediately at the start of turn.

I've noticed that bailed out crews have no movement points, but attempting a "Rally" immediately, if successful, will bring the suppression down and add movement points. This usually allows me to bail & scoot. Does this work if you bail by choice?

I have to admit that I´m not sure. I don´t think that the crew had any suppression after ordered to bail out, but I would have to test it to be sure. I´ll do it after I get home; I´m at work right now... ;-)

You can order your men to bail out by pressing '9'... if I remember correctly. Well anyway, you can find all the hotkeys in the manual.

In order to remount their vehicles you just have to move your crew into the same hex as the vehicle. They will climb in for the next turn, I don't think that there is a way to 'order' them back in.
