Hi, Copy protection on smoke signals stinks. Then there was this time I was PBS (play by smoke) and there was a forrest fire. Had to restart the game after that.

Then, there is always the problem of keeping the fire lit when the rain storms hit halfway through a move. Creates so much smoke and steam that the signals get confused, and you wind up with a non delivered turn. Then Ugh winds up hitting Mog instead of Bog with the club, costing valuable political, and victory points.

But the biggest problem is the house "foot of dinosaur" rule. When one shows up, game is delayed, if not cancelled.

Hi, Dinosaur on my team. [:D] I loved it when uber Dinosaur got surprise on opponents.
But then I had to go find new opponents. (always had to find plenty of new opponents to keep dinosaur from surprising me)

ORIGINAL: Kid
Take the players not being happy with the surface combat and the fire concentration on a few ships. It was originally coded that way to make it more realistic. For example if a ship caught fire at night it became more visible and drew more fire. This was in the code. Also, there are more real world examples of the transports getting away that there are of them getting sunk to the last ship. However, once the players complained we changed it to make the game more enjoyable.

Kid--

My objection was never that transports got away and one ship attracted all the fire sometimes. My objection was that this was happening (from what people were saying) virtually all the time. I want WITP to be as realistic as possible (though clearly some concessions to playability are necessary)--I hope 1.3 will not tilt the pendulum too much in the other direction. I don't want every battle to be Savo Island or Surigao Strait any more than I want every battle to be the Komandorski Islands.

I hope we don't lose all of the randomness of suface combat, it seemed to me alot of people here want board game results, where a CA always beats a DD in suface combat. Yes, sometimes you get strange results, but strange things happen in war.

Nope, no loosing the randomness, it's still there. Just getting a better chance of closing during the daytime coupled with changes that don't give as high a priority to shooting at ships that are already on fire.

Yeah, I was under the impression that due to a couple more bug fixes being added, the patch would be delayed a bit... maybe I'm wrong though, I hope I am. [;)]

Well, being down to 7 3/4 hours here, I am betting we can set our sights for October.

That's great--that's exactly what I (and I think a lot of others) want.
