I would like if possible, everybody who downloads and plays this to write a short review or something on what you thought of it, and its potiential then email ot to jason.b@shaw.ca with an address you can be contacted at

pass this along to anybody who downloads it

dont worry its nothing to do with junk mail.

thanks

ya

I took the jump drives out because I need to think it through more... what you do is your setup invisible farcasters between systems or sectores, then you fly to them and jump
so youy put one in the main system, one in hyperspace linked to that system and one from hyperspace to your destonation

I just used jumpgates so you can see them easyer while I work out a b etter way tto do

until we can seelcte our destonation from the nav map before jumping I dont see another way

7-Zip Ultra got it down to 209MB, with SFX. 3D Gamers or so might be a good idea :)

Let's wait with 3dgamers and fileplanet until we have a working DAT. I will try and make a campaign file later today. If that works out, I'll pass the DAT on to fileplanet and the other major file news sites.

BTW, DamoclesX, there's no HUD and no MUSIC folder in the files you sent me.

Roger that, I'm downloading that and will offer a torrent for the addon as well.

BTW, so far I've served 6GB of traffic for the B5 mod. Not all that much really ;)

Well the 6GB are just my share - since it's Bittorrent we're talking about, everyone who downloaded it also contributed back. Cheers to those who left their download windows open by the way [:)]

Don't worry about my connection. I have experience in this (been slashdotted twice and even was on the fileplanet front page in early 2001) - and yes, BitTorrent is wonderful for the very fact that the more people download simultaneously, the *less* traffic load I actually have on my side.

About newsgroups:
Usenet newsgroups are, in a way, much like this BB, or really like a prototype for the modern BB. However, you have to have a particular sort of software to receive and post from newsgroups. Microsoft Outlook has some limited functionality, I believe, but the most popular is probably a piece of freeware called XNews.
What NGs you can access (alt.startrek.vs.starwars, for example) is determined by how much your ISP feels like temporarily storing. Note temporary - if you want to look at posts made more than a few days ago, you'll have to archive them yourself, or hope Google Groups has it archived (not the case for any binaries).
Usenet was originally created for text only communication, and its protocol has no use for binaries. However, a way was determined at some point to encode binaries into transmittable text, and decoding for such files was added to any decent newsreader, including XNews. Some more specialized pieces of software are more useful for posting large files or large numbers of files. Large files are particularly problematic because there is a fairly low limit on how large a text file can be posted, so they have to be split up into several, sometimes dozens or hundreds of separate posts.
So, usenet is useful for two things in terms of this file: a one-time post of the file itself, or a simple post pointing out the location of the torrent. The question, of course, is what newsgroups specifically to post to, but that seems to be mentioned in a previous post.

Left My torrent opened since I downloaded it, only allowing 10-30k depending if I'm at home or not. but every little bit helps I Guess. I've only served 790 megs. btw I am having too much fun with the white star and watching the AI battle each other.

Addon Bittorrent is here:

http://hoxdna.org/b5/HTL500Addon.exe.torrent

Another hint: If you closed your download window but want to donate bandwidth again, just re-download into the same location where the files already exist, it will notice that you're already done downloading and start uploading immediately.

And yes, newsgroups are too short-lived to distribute binaries securely. Also, many folks have great difficulties getting files from NGs (lack of knowledge about multipart files, no client, etc)
