Please, patch, fix my leader leak
I'm just hoping that 1.3 puts a stop to this kind of nonsense (so far in this game, I have lost Ching Lee and Marc Mitscher):

IIRC, someone finally found pry a save that could reliably recreate this problem, and he said that it didn't happen with 1.3. So, fingers crossed!

Yes, this is in the "we believe it is fixed" department - we can't be 100% sure because of the nature of the bug, but it could be duplicated previously and we cannot duplicate it in the 1.3 that is in testing.

Having playes a few on-line games where I swear they could not have tested anything before putting out patches I can't say how refreshing it is to know there is actual testing going on here.
Being in the IT business I know that no testing is completely 100% but it does go a long way into making an application as bug-free as humanly possible.

I have been in constant amazement that they were able to get this beast to run at all, let alone without bugs.
Even more, the game has no "showstopper" bugs, only nagging problems that can be dealt with. A remarkable achievement, in my estimation.
JUst gimme back Ching Lee for my old BB group headed out in support of my Tarawa invasion.

Sheesh. As if Japanese pilots aspiring to American carrier command weren't bad enough, now U.S. Army field-grade officers want to get into the act.

RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
Its always been a issue that affects both sides and fingers crossed it is still not occuring in the patch version...
RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
I have figured out where the quality commanders are going, having found several. The automatic convoy system, being otherwise totally FU, is stealing your commanders. It would think nothing of grabbing Lord Nelson to command two harbor scows. Find these convoys, dock them, disband them or replace the commanders, turn off the essentially useless auto-convoy system and that problem, at least, will go away.

So...the thing that doesn't work, is now taking revenge out on the things that do work? Wow... Time to rescue Admiral Halsey!

RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
Well, I can confirm that this is at least half the problem. Sure enough, I found some of my best admirals conning supply ships going to the far reaches of the Pacific. However, not all leasers turned up. The man himself, Bull Halsey, STILL cannot be found.
However, I will be restarting my game with 1.3, and I urge the impatient of you to do the same. IF you go through, ship by ship, looking at your COs, it will make you cry. My destroyer fleet is near on useless now. 1/2 are commanded by their original COs, 1/3 by Japanese pilots and ship captains, and the remainder by US ground officers. The submarine force is in worse shape. If you send your boats out with auto sub ops, 3/4 of them will be commanded by 1st Lts and Japanese WOs. Not that it matters, but the transports are hiddeous. The Big ships don't suffer as much, but your support vessels.... It would take me at least 4 hours SOLID time to get it all straightened out, and that doesn't count the ships that are already at sea, and can't make port for a week or more. I've got troop convoys commanded by the best subcommanders, my subs commanded by the most idiotic Japanese flyers, and my PT boats by Marine platoon leaders. It is a mess! [:@]
EDIT: I should add, the boats that you send out manually don't seem to be affected, but if boats sortie from say, the West Coast, via auto sub ops, they almost always get replaced by Japanese commanders.

RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
I dont have ANY computer controlled areas and no auto task force, no auto sub, been that way since the start , and I lost leaders. It isnt just the auto system screwing up.
Favoritism is alive and well here.
RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
I have also tried this several times with auto convoy on and off, and the leaders are still being replaced by Japanese pilots, so it seems the auto convoy system is not the (only) problem. However, I do hope the next patch will fix the auto convoys - why have the option to use them at all if the system doesn't work as planned? It's not funny to have small transport TF's commanded by your navy's best admirals!
Having lost Adm. Nimitz I actually checked ALL my ships and TF's once - I still couldn't find him, so I guess Chester is now gone for good. And of course I've been unable to get any repeatable saves of this annoying bug! [:@]
If it's fixed in 1.3, GREAT!!! [&o]

RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
Maybe you get US ground officers from the US autoconvoy system and Japanese pilots from the AI's use of its' autoconvoy system?
RE: Please, patch, fix my leader leak
By the way, having run out of political points for no reason that I can fathom (no excessive use), I strongly suspect that when WO Fujiyama replaces your cruiser captain, the appropriate political points are deducted. Almost certainly, when Admiral Ching Lee is placed in command of three bananna boats, the appropriate political points are deducted.
Additionally, no one from Matrix has bothered to answer my question. Are leadership quality ratings absolute, ie is a vice admiral with a rating of 70/70 better or worse or the same as a Captain with the same quality rating, or perhaps a FO with a rating of 75/80, considered as a fleet commander, for example

I think you are right on the PPs, it seems for no reason at all I get a massive drain of PPs, when I didn't spend any. Wierd.

No, I didn't mean to suggest that auto-convoy had anything to do with funky commanders being placed in command of your ships. I only noted that many senior officers are being placed in command of merchant task forces by the auto convoy system. Of course, maybe I didn't notice. Perhaps the foreign devils are responsible to steering my convoy practically into Rabaul.[:D]
