Skip the first campaign?

Post by BadKarma1001 »

Hi, purchased Starshatter yesterday and love it, but i hate to do the fighter missions because i prefer capital ship handling.
But in the first campaign i can only fly around with a fighter.
Can i skip it?
...and if no, how many missions have i to fly?

Being in command of a capitol ship is a function of your rank, not which campaign you're in. You need to get to sufficient rank through fighter missions before you can command capships. ATM I'm blanking on the ranks you need to command the various ships. I'm sure someone around here can rattle off the ranks/command levels.

Hey BadKarma,
Initially I felt the same thing being a Space RTS gamer (HW, ORB, Conquest FW, etc)at my core...but I have really come to love the rush of starfighter combat. Im playing the Op Highland now and just tranfered to the Gerrond and am getting my butt kicked...the big ships play much slower and just like real life ...You better have fighter supremacy or your gonna die.

You need Lt. Commander rank to command a destroyer in the dynamic campaigns.

Note that you can buff your character by flying single missions. You could create your own starship combat missions using the built-in editor to gain some experience toward command rank. The quickest way to do that is to create a mission with you in a Devestator class Heavy Cruiser. Put in some enemy starbases or a carrier with no escort and have some fun. Those are high-value assets and will gain you promotions pretty quickly.

There is also a rank cheat code, but I haven't made it public yet.

Thanks for purchasing the game! And let me know if you need any more help.
