I'm at 9/25/42 on Lemurs!'s outstanding campaign scenario. I'm playing a schizophrenic game (that's one player, head to head [:D] ) So far everything is working wonderful, and I would greatly recommend this scenario to anyone willing to set out on the full campaign game. I do have a few ?s and observations however. Some of these may have more to do with the game than the scenario, but, since I'm not playing a standard game I figured I'd post here.

1) The automatic factory upgrade gets rid of several important planes before I'm ready to get rid of them. First and formost is the A6M2, all of my factories have converted to A6M3s, and any attempt to reconvert them triggers the auto factory upgrade and they change right back. My jap carriers are currently in dire need of fighters! I'm having the same problem with jap army fighters - too many Heins, no factories producing Oscars Is - but this isn't quite as critical.

2) I also have two air units that seem to be perpetually "Organizing" I'm at work now so I don't have the exact info, but I seem to remember than these fighter groups are bringing in newer fighters. One is introducing Oscar IIs, which aren't due out for two months, but the other group is equipped with a fighter that has been around since 7/42.

Uh . . . it seems I had another question, but I guess I forgot it.

I'd label this post more as "feedback" than "complaint." Like I said, I actually prefer this scenario to the standard one, even with the kinks. I may even post an update on how my game's going in the "Combat reports."

Now there are no zeroes in the pool, M2s or M3s. This is a well thought out scenario with a considerable amount of work put into it, but there is apparently a problem. I'm sure the problem will be addressed as soon as someone with a few more posts discovers it.

I think the solution might be to switch the A6M2 upgrade back to the "Zeke" and the "Nate" Update back to the "Oscar." Of course this will be too late for those who have already started their game.

So do I understand correctly that, while the A6M2 factories upgrade to A6M3, the A6M2 squadrons on the carriers do not?

I just checked, and all A6M2's on Japanese CV's upgrade to A6M3's. Also I do not understand the Nate upgrade problem. I have not reached the auto upgrade for factories date in a 4.0 game yet, but in 3.1 beta the Nate factories upgrade to Oscar 1b's.

Lemurs!....can you please respond to this post? Is this a major problem that will be fixed?I am early in your scenario and want to know if I should wait for a correction.

Bstar, what version are you playing?

Are you playing 4.0? 3.1 beta (was not released to Spooky) or an earlier version?

This is vital information we need. I have been playing version 3.1 beta and 4.0 longer than anyone except Lemurs as far as I know. Hard to help you if we do not know what version you are playing.

If you are playing an earlier version than 3.1, Lemurs found some major problems with the upgrade paths etc in his earlier versions. These have been corrected in 3.1 and 4.0.

Sorry if I sounded a little hacked this morning, I was up at five getting ready to go in to work on what was supposed to be my weekend off. I'm at lunch now, so I may have to post and read the replies this afternoon.

My carrier A6M2s don't upgrade to A6M3s and my factories won't produce A6M2s; that's the main problem. I'm pretty sure I'm playing the 4.0 version; I logged onto spooky's site not long after I saw the thread in this area about 4.0s release (before that I didn't even know it was out there). I also noticed someone else mentioned that when they downloaded 4.0 that they didn't get the graphics in the download and the same thing happened to me so I got the graphics from an earlier mod; so it doesn't sound like I downloaded at the wrong place (unless this other person made the same mistake).

change that, I just checked an earlier save and it seems my A6M2 would have upgraded earlier. Now I'm just out of Zeros. (The factories still keep upgrading themselves, but that's not a game-stopper, it's just mildly annoying.)

But . . . (and this gets really weird) whenever I build zeros they build for one turn, then disappear; even though I have all my units set for "no replacements". However, since I missed the first booboo, I may very well have missed something else. These units may be trying to build the masses of "organizing" A6M2 units that are rebuilding, but I had a Tojo unit come out of organizing with no problem. Let me play a few more turns this afternoon and I''ll get back. I may owe an appology for hitting the panic button early.

I think maybe you have an earlier version. I have 4.0 loaded up right now and checked every IJN CV. They all upgrade to A6M3's.

By loaded I mean I have it alt tabbed out in another window. If you want, I can send you the 4.0 with the graphics mod. I have them both in a zip file.

In one of my 3.1 beta games, it is Feb 42 and I have 306 A6M2's in the pool at the moment. I figure that I will have 500+ by the time the M3 comes around. I may have even more since I am producing 204 a month.

An easy way to check to see if you are playing version 4.0 is do any of the Japanese DD's have any armor ratings. Also did alot of big base forces start out in Japan. The 14th Base force and the 5th Kure SNLF should start out in Hiroshima in version 4.0.

sorry, I guess I should have deleted the first part of that last post. read on down in my earlier post; I decided to doublecheck an earlier save halfway through typing it and found out my carrier planes would have upgraded if I had zeros. Now the only problem seems to be that some mysterious source is eating the A6M3s as they come off the assembly lines. I just ran three turns with all air units set to "no replacements" and my number of A6M3 replacements went from 1 to 5 then back to 3. For several turns before this I noticed the number was bouncing more or less from 0 to 5.

(by the way, considering how glaringly obvious my last mistake was, I almost didn't post about this second related problem for fear the solution would be just as obvious [:D] )

I think the problem is partially solved. I mean, I will have to start over, but if it hadn't been for me somehow missing that the carriers upgraded (and for the life of me, I can't figure out how I missed that. I wonder if I checked an old save or something) I wouldn't have been jacking with the factories, which is really what caused the severe shortage of A6M3s in the first place. It would be nice if we could figure out where those 1 to 5 planes a turn are going, though.
