China boundaries

Post by Cheesehead »

My opponent and I are puzzling over the set up boundaries in China for WiFFE. On the map there are a variety of dotted and dashed lines of various colors. Then they have the years printed in different colors...'39 is in red, but there are no red lined or dotted boundaries on the map? Could someone please tell us how to figure this out? What China hexes can the Japanese set up in 1939 (Global conflict scenario)? What hexes are the Communists limited to? We'd really appreciate the help.

Well...not really. This is what you said last month:

"Japan controls all of manchuria, the dots can be confusing especially where they join together, look for where they split apart. The front doesnt change much on a historical basis if that is any comfort. "

I went back and looked at the map and still can't figure it out. Apologies for my thickness[:)]

What really throws us is all the dotted and dashed lines around the hexes south of Peking where it says "Comm. China."

Does this mean the Commies are set up where they can be surrounded by Japs?

If you follow the pink dots (closest to the red '39) you can get a rough idea of the outer boundary. But there are still some questions.
1. Is Tsi-Nan controlled by China or Jap?
2. Are the hexes just west of Tai-Yuan controlled by China or Jap?
3. Foochow--China or Jap in '39?
4. And what are the limitations of Chinese set up? Can the Nationalist set up in Si-An or Lan Chow? Do the Commies have to set up south of Peking (where it says Comm. China) or can they set up anywhere in China that is not Japanese controlled?
Any help you guys can give will be mich appreciated.

to answer your last question, they can setup anywhere, but CC can only draw supply from CC sources and vice versa. I do believe there is 1 mtn hex that is surrounded from setup but obviously anything you put there would be OOS and this would need to be considered if you decide to place(waste?) a unit there.
Dont have the map in front of me, will try to dig one up online and get back to you

Thanks Vonpaul...once again the Aussies with a big assist.[:)]

I put the same question out on WiF Discussion group and I had another guy give me the same answer (the same hexes) so I'm sure you are correct. Thanks again!

Nah... haven't managed WiF FTF for a few years now... middle age and marriage get in the way. I used to play with Nigel Slater and cronies. Do you have a regular game that I could drop in and kibbitz now and then?
