Autoconvoys & Bataan

Post by Jack Meauph »

Playing the Japanese vs the AI. Thought I would let the autoconvoy system handle supplies for me. Unfortunately 4 of those convoy commanders evidently didn't get the memo that Bataan hasn't fallen yet. Four convoys sailed into range of Bataan's guns and were annihilated before I finally turned the autoconvoy system off.

The autoconvoy system is a great idea but it needs to be able to avoid traveling through hexes where the Allies are still known to have working shore batteries.

In any event, I love this game. Just wish I had more time to play it.

no offense...

But, you shouldn't have put Manila on the auto convoy system until you captured Bataan. This wasn't a bad AI example. It was a bad player example. You should only put bases on auto convoy if there are no enemy actions near them.

In your example, you should have had the base just south of Manila on auto convoy and let the supplies go to Manila via the highway.

None taken...

You're right, one of those convoys was headed for Manilla, but the others were headed elsewhere, so I'm not sure Manilla was the whole problem.

I'm just going to leave autoconvoy off until Bataan goes away.

Well, if that's true, then there may be a bug or something. I don't think transport task forces are supposed to go through enemy controlled ports, unless you pick the hex as a destination, or there is no other path for it to take. (I could be wrong on this, though)

If you have the specific data to this problem, you might post it on the support forum.
