possible worm/virus: matrix games press release

Post by swagman »

I have just received my third email from pressrelease@matrix.com

Is this the result of a worm or a virus on the email server?

I received three,too.
But one was abt La Grand Armee and another about the science fictional title, so only one mail seems having been doubled so far.

As far as I know, a virus or worm will not send multiple emails to the same recipient. And any infected email should be caught by your anti-virus program. You do have an anti-virus program, of course?
Retreat is NOT an option.

It depends on how many accounts you have. I created a second account when I forget my first password, so I do get duplicate message.

I think he meant a worm on the Matrix server, not in the email itself. I got them too.

I heard it was just Paul; to many hours at work and he fell asleep . His nose hit the ENTER key and his PC just kept on mailing. <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

I have been getting multiple announcements for many months so it is not something new.

Thanks for the replies...the multiple memberships is a likely solution...as is Paul's nose (I am sure it is a beautiful thing).

I just wanted to let the Matrix guys know...in case it was something nastier.

Fellas: Clean out those old, useless cookies and a lot of the junk and excess stuff you get will be a thing of the past. I use Cookie Pal and recommend it for cookie management. It will not, so far as I know, detect spyware. For that, Ad-Aware is excellent: Twice in the last couple of months I've had spyware installed and without Ad-Aware it would still be there - in the registry no less.
