Creating Mission: How do you start out on carrier?

Post by incbob »

Okay, first let me say WOW. I have had the game for less than a week and I am creating my first custom mission. VERY easy. OMG. I haven't had the game for a week and have only spent less than 3 hours on the mission and it is starting to be playable.

Anyhoo. So I am a fighter and I want to start on the carrier and launch from there into the mission. How?

Note, I am using the B5 mod and when I get the mission done I will find a a way to post it.

First, make a squadron of fighters and select a carrier for them (it's on the right side of the package editor). Then, make the element you want to start in the hangar, and set it as part of the squadron (also on the right side of the package menu). Then check the "Alert" button on that element. Make sure the element and the squadron are the same craft type, and that the squadron is large enough to contain the element. Hopefully that makes sense!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I got it done. Now I have another question.

I am trying to set it up so that the player hears some radio chatter and then launches. However, no matter what kind of delay I put on the player's element he launches immediately. How do I get the players launch to delay?

I have the mission mostly done, but I am working on getting the events, which are mostly radio chatter, down.

Okay. For those of you reading this thread here is the mission:

It takes place during the Earth civil war. The Omega class cruiser Yorktown (it is a cruiser in the Babylon universe) is a "rebel" cruiser and is trying to get away from two Hyperion class cruisers loyal to President Clark.

I have it set up that the player is a Starfurry pilot and must protect the Yorktown until she can get to the "Alpha jump gate."
