Now we need to finish the job! hmmmm who would be better St. Louis who beat us in 48 and 67 or Roger Clemens hmmmmm.[:D]

I remember when the Rocket played his first game for Toronto against Boston, he struck out 16 and glared at the Boston GM after each strike out. Roger had a bunch of police protecting him because the Boston fan were so mad at him (unlike in Europe real riot do not occur), by the end of the game about 1/3 of the fans were cheering for him.

Speaking for every blueblood from Hartford to Bangor to Montpelier I say...

If that's the price for winning the World Series, we'll take it. We can live with not having to say "wait 'til next year" again for a long, long time. One World Series that ends with the Red Sox crowned world champions in my lifetime would suffice.

I can forgive the soccer fans, non-Americans who don't follow baseball, and just about everyone who likes baseball but does not understand why this is a big deal. As a Canadian, Hockey has to come number 1 and #2 would be American Football (no I do not watch the semi-pro CFL anymore) but for pure drama (you do not need people running around with little chance of scoring to create drama) nothing matches baseball. There have been so many great 7 game series and after game 3 how many (non-New Englander) gave Boston a chance but comeback are more frequent in baseball than in any other sport.

congrats to all you Sox fans. You have something to keep you occupied while waiting for the patch. I don't get TV, but it was really great radio! I even listened to the entire game 3 just to listen to Miller and Little Joe.

Considering how long the 0-3 jinx has been running it had to go down in dramatic fashion. Really great the way you guys did it against the Yanks. Screw Jeter and his "ghosts." The ghosts have all moved to a cornfield in Iowa. The Marlins proved that, after the Twins proved it, after the Diamondbacks proved it.

If the Cards make it through, I think we'll give you a pretty good tussle. If not, I'll be rooting for the 'Stros.

does anyone remember where they where on that fatefull night with the infamous grounder through the legs at first? I was in my Cambridge MAss apt rooting against the RS, For the Mets.. cannot believe it now... so now I live in Colorado I may actually watch a BB game.. I was really offended by the last players strike and as a former player of no mean ability took great offense and have watched few games in last decade.. read 0...

So where were you when the ball was missed?

So where were you when the ball was missed?

Massachusetts. Watching it on TV. But the fault was not Buckner's. It was managerial. Failure to rotate pitcher when it was clear that he had melted down. Last year I decided to watch game 7, thrusting aside my conviction that the Sox would screw it up. When I saw the Red Sox starter walking onto the mound that fateful inning I turned to my wife before the first pitch was thrown and said "They just blew the game. The Red Sox need a fan hotline to the dugout so that fans can call them up and enter a special code to alert them that they're about to screw up."

So here we are. But merely being in the World Series is a great thing, and getting there the way that they did sends a big fat raspberry to NY that will stand for all time in the baseball record books.

First team to blow a 3-0 lead in a postseason 7 game playoff: New York Yankees.
First team to win a 7 game postseason playoff game after going down 0-3 in the first three games: Boston Red Sox.

It may happen again, some day, but the Red Sox will forever be the first team to beat the 0-3 jinx. It may happen again, some day, but the Yankees will forever be the first team to screw the pooch in the worst way. [:D]

I am certainly not a baseball fan. In fact, I'm not much of a professional sports fan (college football is still good, but they're going the way of the dinosaur too).

Anyway, last nights game is probably the best sporting event I've ever seen. I hate the NY yankees, because they stand for everything that I hate about professional sports. It is so fitting that they are the first team to ever blow a 3 game lead in a playoff series. It was still better than the US losing the Olympic gold in basketball this year. Not that I like to see the US lose, but I do like to see all those whiney basketball players lose.

I'll root for Boston from now on. Any team that puts that kind of a whipping on the NY yankees is ok in my book.

I went to a lot of games at Fenway back then and all I can remember is
"O'H NO NOT STANLEY" as he and a lot of relievers seemed to blow a lot of
games for us when put in at clutch time.
( Pedro comes in and almost instantley the mood of the game changes back to the curse.)
except it is not as strong this time so the babe may be letting go this year.
I vowed not to watch any more heart breaks but I keep getting sucked back in.
There are 7 more games left for the curse to come back in, so until that final out
when the sox finally win it, I as well as a lot of sox fans will be on edge.

In the last week, I watched The Sox beat the Yankees, the Packers destroy the Lions, Middlesborough draw against Man U. at old Trafford on tape delay (D**n you Super Sub! D**n you to hell!), pine for not seeing the Wild play, and basically enjoy some Hong Kong poker players.

Sport is universal.

Billerica Ma., watching the game at my sisters house. It was not totally Buckners fault. Everyone forgets the mistakes made earlier in the game such as Gedman's past ball, Buckners was just more dramatic.

Listen, I am not against other sports, I love Fussball. I've adopted Boston as my team, I grew up in Nebraska and we had no baseball there so I'm proud to be a Sox fan. I also believe in sportsmenship, so I find winning a "good" game all the more entertaining. I got so sick of The Big Red winning streek that I stopped caring whether Nebr. won by a 20 or 30 point spread. I guess I like the underdogs, If the Cubbies and the Sox(White or Red) could play in the series I would keel over in excitement, not knowing who I'd want more to win. Both teams as well as many others deserve a chance. so in conclusion lets pray- God of All PLEASSSSSSSE give us the patch, and if it's in your power(assuming the patch is) give the cubs AND the Sox a chance, thank you Amen.

DISCLAIMER- The Author is fully aware that praying for a series win is in bad form, but the Author makes NO! apologies for praying for the patch. He wants it that bad.
