INSTALLATION HELP

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

INSTALLATION HELP

Post by Vette114 »

I have d/l'ed and tried to install this game several times. I am a huge WWII buff and have only heard good things about this game. BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO INSTALL. After d/l'ing and trying a couple sites it still will not work. All that happens is I get a sandclock and then nothing absolutely nothing happens. I searched the forums hoping this was resolved but no luck. I run XP Home on a pent 4 2 ghz w/ 768 ram and a 128mb geforce so the sys will work. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Some of those sites, I think that was one, had problems when 8.2 came out. Don't know if they were corrceted but I got mine from GamersHell and it was fine. Sounds like you might have experienced some sort of problem with the DL.

Vette 114, I'd recommend getting the download from GamersHell. As for SPWaW and XP, I'd also recommend that you run it in Win98 compatibility mode. Now, some gamers have odd version numbers showing on the menu screen. It should say 8.2, but on some machines it says 9.5. Don't get alarmed by this.

If you successfully get the game installed, the next step is to get the 8.3 patch. This requires registering in the "members" area. Your forum name and password will NOT work in this area.

Yes, it's 425 Megs.

Let me also add that some gamers have offered to send CDs with the complete 8.2 install to gamers who are download-challenged (that is, with slow net connections).

These guys have gone above and beyond, and I offer a toast to them. [&o]
