Here is another one I got a few days ago. Again note the bad gramer "nearest time"

I got one like this awhile back. Deleted it because I haven't had a Citibank account, credit Card, in years.

These guys are so stupid they couldn't even get a current list of customers.

Even if it was legit, "free" is too expensive for Point of Attack 2 ! [:@]

If you want to know all about how phishing works, read this (see, no tricks in this URL) :
http://www.ngssoftware.com/papers/NISR-WP-Phishing.pdf

It tells you how it is done, all the tricks etc. Very technical though.

Any time there is a warning about something + sense of urgency and they are asking for detailed information, it probably is a fake.

Real companies don't need to ask for the credit card # they issued to customers.

I get PAYPAL ones like that all the time. One thing I've no longer do is use a link from my email to a site. If it has something I'm interested in, I will type it in the address bar, I was warned about links a longggggggggggg time ago, causing viruses, and doing stuff such as this. So, if you don't press on the links or don't open suspicious email, you're pretty safe. Also if you don't visit "porn" sites or "warez" sites, you should be pretty safe as well. lol

I goto official web pages (not fansites created outside of offical websites), and official marketing sites like Ebay.com, Amazon.com or TigerDirect.com and others, rarely do I just peruse the internet blindly.

I rarely open an email unless from a gamer I am playing a PBEM game with, and hopefully these joes are legit and not trying to virus up my system. So far since 1996, no problems.

I trust Matrix.com, but, if they keep jacking their prices up, I'm gonna begin to wonder about them. lol

As far as I know I've never had a known virus, the only problems I've ever encountered was this new STARFORCE copy protection program, amazing isn't it, all these years without any major issues from internal viruses, trojans and the like and it takes a legitimate software develoment staff and publisher to screw up my system. Now I did have to download some updates from Windows when the Blaster worm was running around out there. It wasn't a serious worm, but, frustrating because it would knock you offline and shut down your system after several minutes.
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik! ;) and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

Just to let you know not everything is a scam...I got this email from a former government official in Nigeria who had this big Swiss account but he couldn't get to it because he needed some "earnest money" or something like that. So I electronically transferred $2500 to an account in Zurich and any day now I should be getting a 6 or 7 figure check. He seemed really thankful too.

I'm thinking of getting a vacation condo in Cabo San Lucas [8D]

You can avoid many of these browser security problems by using the Firefox browser.

P.S. I would never under-estimate the ignorance of the average Internet user. It's a problem that will only go away as the more computer aware younger generations grow up ...
I'll second that idea. Firefox is much better than IE and has replaced Opera as my favorite browser. I can't live without tabs! [&o]
