Wait for patch?

Post by Heliotic »

Hi all,

I'm a new purchaser of the game, bought it last night, printing out the manual at work today [;)]

Is it worth waiting for the patch before I start playing? [if it will only be a day or two] or should I jump in right now?

You can still try one of the shorter scenarios or the test scenarios to get familiar with the interface...you don't wanna start the grand campaign for a first glance, do you?[;)]

I would start playing it maybe by playing tutorials. You would want to wait for 1.3 patch
to really start serious game (I would anyway, just for the leaderbug).

Of course I do, I imagine I will fail miserably though. [&:]

I guess what I am asking is: Is there anything that this patch fixes, that if I were to play now I would be horrifically disappointed about?

No problem playing 1.21 at all. I've got 4 PBEMs going and am enjoying them all immensely. When the patch does come out usually all the code changes work with current games. About all you don't get are OOB changes since the game only reads the database once at the start.

I would buy it now and try to learn all the basic stuff in the smaller scenarios. Thats exactly what I am doing right now. If you haven't played UV then it is a bit of a learning curve but definitely manageable if you read the manual and take the advice of the gentlemen on these boards.

Get started the mechanics work well already. Do the tutorial. The next patch is soon. But the learning curve is huge, if you don't have UV.[8|]

Thanks for asking. No my condo 800 ft pickens rd is in good shape could live there tomorrow but no water no power am 1 to 2 months away. Ft Pickens I can see at least 1 major cuthrough from my balcony. I'm told there are 2 more need a boat to verify. Figure at least springtime before Ft Pickens is available[:(][:@][:(]

We will be back, the beaches are great and I love watching the Angels practice. Nothing finer then having them come over Battery Worth low, fast and loud![:D]
