Land Units and combat

Post by Freddy Fudpucker »

I'm slowly starting to get to grips with some of the game concepts (after months of playing [8|]).

One thing that still escapes me completely is how land units work:

1. Why are the land unit icons in different shades? I was guessing this is to do with supply but I'm not entierly certain.

2. What affects distruption and fatigue both loss of it and how to improve it? (Is there a morale score too? I can't check as I'm not at home!)

3. How much of an affect does distruption and fatigue have in combat?

4. How would you prepare your troops for an invasion/assault? What I mean is what superiority do you look to achieve, what mix of troops, only complete divisions and not mix up of troops, an attached HQ, minimum fatigue and distrution rates etc, etc.

5. Does ground bombing affect distruption/morale etc because it certainly doesn't seem to have much of a destructive affect i.e. 30+ level bombers achieving little or no ground casualty successes.

Thanks in advance for any insights and tips you care to share.[:)]

The different shades represent strength, the Darker the icon the stronger the
forces are at that location.

Consatant combat, air, ground, and shore bombardment all cause fatigue and
disruption as well as lack of supply and malaria zones as these will cause both also.

The only way to lesson fatigue and disruption is to move the units into larger
bases and they will recoup over time, sometimes it takes several weeks
also build up the bases from 0 - 1 levels and this will eliminate malaria.

If you notice the number in brackets next to your troops sqds this represents
dissabled troops that will not be fighting in combat as they are incapacitated.

You need at least 2 - 1 superiority in combat to take a base, a mix of combat troops, engineers, HQ, and artillary will improve your results, also it helps to pound a base
with heavies for weeks to soften up the troops and destroy supply and the engineers will
destroy fortifications in combat, the higher the fortifications the longer you need to assualt them.

Bombing the airfields and ports first will cause loss of supplies as well as destroy
some ground troops, once you sufficiently destroy ports and airfields it will take
a lot of supply to rebuild them back to operational levels, then switch to ground troops
and the occasional port or airfiels attack.
and yes bombing ground troops will cause fatigue and disruption.

consideration all of the tendencies of the mind
