Since we're still waiting ....

This is really off topic, but a comment in another thread about flying RC135s got me to remembering ...

There were probably almost as many RC135 types as there were RC135s, but this is a pretty good site about a Rivet Ball crew. It says a lot more than I expected about the mission and it's a good read overall (for a bunch of old men remembering the good times on Shemya anyway)

That is a good site. My father flew P-3s out of Adak in 1961 and 1962. He wouldn't say much about it, but the P-3s also apparently ran some kind of spook missions off the Soviet coast on occassion. He said the P-3 was good at it because, given the technology of the time, the P-3 was about the only plane that could run away from Soviet intercepts at night because it could comfortably dive to the deck and egress at 100 feet. Who knows? But certainly whatever the P-3s were doing wasn't as sophisticated or tailor-built as the -135 operations.

For a second, I thought you were going to suggest we play eye-spy. [:D]

I don't know these damn bugs get everywhere. No need to worry, the 1.1 patch is now out and it's fixed.[:D]
