If you really look, one of those trucks does look like an Italian Breda truck.

Could have sworn those were British. The other thing that catches my eye is the bike our friend is riding. Something about it makes me think that its not a BMW. But then it doesnt look like a Harley either, especially with that sissy seat in the back. Could that be Italian too?

Alright! I think you nailed it there Bel. Splash guards on wheels, spokes and all.

So what are we looking at here? We have Italian artillery, German infantry, Italian or British trucks. Looks to me like a REMF column moving up. Once again, cant peg it to a time frame though.

Could it be the Trento division perhaps? Or maybe the Ariete? Both were attached to the DAK and later PanzerArmee Afrika, so its quite probable that the Germans might have loaned some equipment to them. Especially seeing as the Italians had a tendency to not be motorized.

Yeah, it belongs to Jimmy "Two Wheels" Bensky, the world's most notorious pizza delivery driver.

I serriously doubt we will be able to pin down the unit except by a blind guess. As I remember, the DAK wasn't so hot in the mechanization department either. Their frontline units were in good shape but the comminications were sorely lacking, especially once the supply lines became as long as they did. I recall that after Alamain the Brits began overrunning German suppy convoys and were shocked by how many British trucks they had.

Until someone throws out a better idea, I say this is a REMF collumn, maybe someone's HQ unit (artillery included).

I only see the Italian gun and vehicle and a single Italian soldier on the far right, I think the motorcycle driver is also German because of the hat. All of the vehicles and men on the left roadside look German. There doesn't appear to be any markings other than a DAK icon on one vehicle and all the Germans seem to be wearing caps.

Can you ID those trucks?

The situation looks like a German column moving down the road and the Italian gun and vehicle have pulled over to the side to allow them to pass. The Italian on the far right is outside having a cigarette while he waits. They guy on the motorcycle pulled the Italian vechile over and is waiting for the column to pass before riding to the front again to help expedite the column's movement. [:)]

Either that or give him a ticket for having a tail light out. Those German MPs are a terror, I tell ya. [:D]

I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?

Considering uniform 'etiquette' in the Afrika Korps, I wouldn't dare to identify any soldier as being German or Italian by looking at their gear alone. The trooper on the right could be either, IMO.

DAK troops it is, Italian gun it is. The mixup of vehicles is typical DAK style - by Crusader about 80% of total vehicle inventory were captured British ones.

The gun is definitely Italian, German guns had the wheels after the gun shield and Italian before. Plus the barrel for a German 75mm infantry gun ended just after the shield. I posted a link to a photo of the gun and tractor and it appears an exact match for what is in the photo. It is a 100mm Obise and SPA TL 37, see this link
