Rhinemetall (EMG-55?) around the corner gun, made for tankers?

Not sure what you mean in your question - I would imagine it (the bullet(s)) is/are flattened on one side and quite distorted after going through the deflector

EMG-55? From Cyberpunk 2020?

Not really; Rheinmettal was nevertheless involved with the gun above.

Regarding the bullet: you see, a regular bullet will not go through the curve on the barrel, specially if it is turning at several thousand rpms from the rifling. It would get stuck.

A curved barrel requires a special bullet, which can negotiate the curve and also get the spin it needs for stabilization.

Is the bullet round, i.e. a musket ball?

A cookie to Mynok! Well done! [:D]

It has a spherical bullet with grooves for spinning on the rifling! Because it is spherical, the weapon loses much of its range.

Now, which weapon is that?

It's one of the most important guns ever designed!

MP 44
Sing to the tune of "Man on the Flying Trapeze"
..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

And Tabpub gets a cookie!! :)

On late 1942, Hitler got upset with Goring for pushing the FG-42 project just to compete with the Army, so he ordered all development on rifles to be suspended. It so happened that the excellent MKb 42(H), then under design, was caught by that. The engineers continued it under the name "MP 43", to work around Hitler's orders, saying that it wasn't a type of a rifle, but a type of a pistol.

The generated the MP 44, and when Hitler realized the potential for the weapon, he renamed it StG 44, and reclassified it as Assault Rifle.

Well, no nibbles after almost 12 hours, I'll give a hint or two:

1. It is an electronic gizmo;

2. The Aussie's called this class of gizmos DOOVER(S) through at least most of the war.

3. It is not a weapon in that it doesn't shoot bullets, etc. in of itself, but, then again, it sure makes things much more effective when you try to do such things.

In this case, no, but the nation that developed the device in the picture above probably COULD have used it later in the war for that purpose. They had not worked out the system of using this device yet. It was just beyond experimental in this particular case.

This Gizmo could have been a major factor early in the war, but the country that developed this Gizmo didn't take it all that seriously - much to their regret later...

Well, still no real guesses but String is/was on the right track...

Some more hints: 1. it is not a USA gizmo.
2. It is not in the European Theater of Operations.
3. It is not an electronic billboard sign.[:'(]

It looks like an early radar array but beyond that I have no clue.

Early ugly radar is correct - as far as it goes. Any ideas which country's radar?

Total WAG, but anything that butt-ugly has to be Russian. Plus, the terrain around it looks like steppe.

Nope - not a bad try - Ruskis did try developing radar, but Stalin had purged too may technicians and scientists to get to really operational stuff on their own. This set was operational.

Not Russian.

Also not steppe.

Climate is much wetter. Also, the landscape has not as much vegatation in this picture as was in the surrounding terrain because it had been torn up by construction troops and equipment (more clues). I will also say - not Italian, not Swiss, not Australian, not South African, not British, not Dutch, not French. This should narrow down the country! [:D]
