Stalingrad MC-yes or no only
Hi all,
If there is one more mega campaign inside Steel Panthers before abandoning it to Combat leader/Close Assault, it would be the 1942 Blau Campaign, Stoerfang(Sevastopol) Stalingrad and the relief attempt, Wintergewitter on the German side with an additional MC for the Soviet side for the Stalingrad battles primarily(unless the Kunel is really a glutton for punishment )
The reasons are these;
Originally Lost Victories was envisaged to be a multipart MC, one in 1941-42 and 0ne in 1942-43 and the last in 1943-44, then the same treatments for Army Group Center and North.
Onece it was realized this was too ambitious, it was scaled down to 1941-1942 to the end at Stalingrad and when it was apparent that this would take 1 1/2 years to do, down to January 1942. Some of the nodes for this were incorporated into the release, among these the Crimea nodes of the struggles for Ft Stalin and Maxim Gorki and the capture of the city as well as the winter battles on the Donetz River line.
As a result materials were gathered and work was started on nodes for 1942 which would have taken Vebber from the Crimea or the Donetz River either into Stalingrad or the Caucasus and possibly back into Stalingrad or as part of the relief force.
The framework exists to do 1942 relatively faster than 1941 because of all of this background work
The team has the experience and knowlegde to do it
It is a logical extension of Lost Victories to go to Stalingrad
It is Marauder's favorite subject
Actually this means he has the passion to carry out the job
Many of the nodes have been completed as well as many of the maps.
Sales of the MC's do not warrant at this time the work involved starting a new one from stratch

Therefore I request that you let us know on this thread if you want it or not and not your interest in any other MC subject. We will use this to decide if it is worthwhile to do another Megacampaign before the release of Combat Leader/Close Assault

Well, I'd say I'd buy it especially because of the Soviet opportunity, but if it would divert substantial time and manpower resources from CL, then no. I'd rather see all the MC's and the final version of v7.1 finished and tightened up.

For my taste, there is already too much specialization in Eastern Front action. While this satisfies those players and designers who care only about that theater, for some of us it means a somewhat relentless approach.
I'm not really interested in another Eastern Front MC. We already have MCLV and two other campaigns that come with the game devoted to this topic.
Lots of other peoples and nations fought in WW2. Why not have an CD with two or three smaller campaigns on it? Work has already progressed on a Norwegian campaign - there are others that also might provide relief from Ivan vs. Hans.
