Is anyone actually playing the game?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Still playing, almost one battle a day, either generated campaigns, scenarios, MCs, something. SPWAW is still alive and well here.

Probably never be another quite like it...but we'll see [;)]

Every night, for at lest 2 hours, and more on weekends. I have bazillions of games (esp wargames) but ALWAYS play SP[&o]
- Sergeant, what should I do if my parachute won't open?
- Bring it back and I'll replace it.

I thought I should add more to my previous comment. I think about this game ALL the time. NO other game has ever gained my love more than this. I have never seen a game that can be re-played over and over. WE are her.

Come every one, speak up.

Yep, still poking along with it. I have less time these days but I manage a couple of PBEM turns a week and a MC battle every other week or so.

There is NO OTHER game that I have played so much or for so long. I've been on it since v1.0 and don't see an end in sight. I might as well make it part of my OS install routine. :)

Hello again fellow addictics,I've been busy with cutting and processing core samples for diamond exploration up here in saskatoon, but always use my lunch breaks to run homefor a bite and check the forums. My lady and I were just giggling at this thread because it's SOOOOOO relivant. She says we all need our own support/rehab group,I try to defend us by saying the forum IS our support group!. I've been muttering on the results of a generated British vs what ever the AI came up with from Feb/39 to wars end,and I was wondering why when u try to be in the time frame of battles like Hong Kong island, Singapore,or the first battles in the Phillipines, that the computer skips over these pinicle defence battles early in the war??The efforts of ALL the fellow Addicts I have met threw this game and the advice and assistance of those Septre's in Excellance, like GUNNY,Wild Bill,Goblin, and too many others that would fill the floor, I SALUTE U....

My SP gaming is on pilot flame right now. Got one massive PBEM with Jess going and am also participating in the Red Snow campaign, but unfortunately it doesn't get much more than that right now.

Still love it everytime I start it up though!

Every night Mon-Thurs 20.00 - 01.00 although I find myself spending more and more time designing than playing at the moment!

I work away from home for most of the week...aaah the beauty of laptops![:)]

Then at the weekends I have my three kids to try and convert ....but I guess at 8, 6, and 2 I've got plenty of time!

Cheers!

DannyBoy, I fully understand trying to balance family responsibilities with the obsession that SPWaW can become. For an inveterate tweaker, like me, or a budding designer, like you, this old nag still has plenty of miles left in her. [;)] The modders and designers have done great work, and I applaud them for keeping the legacy alive and thriving. [&o]

As for creating one-man ubersnipers, this is something OOB teams in the past fought against. That being said, maybe you should contact Wild Bill for suggestions. He's retired, but is always willing to give advice to up & coming designers.

Thanks KG,
I should have a couple of scen's up for posting after Christmas....you know who permitting.

At the moment I'm working on a rework of Eben Emael, I'm fascinated by para and glider ops. Plus (for SMBT) a massive version of Dien Bien Phu and the LZ X-ray ops.

If I don't get to post again before Christmas, happy holiday whatever your faith.

Cheers!

I don't play as much as one would think from my posts. I had a HD failure and lost my Stalingrad Campaign save files, so I might try the Das Reich campaign as a new indulgence.

I have lost my taste for playing the AI and am attempting more PBEM nowadays.

I'm playing as fast as I can. SO MANY good scenarios are comng out that it is hard to keep up. The game lives! What fun to play it, win or lose.
