Our intelligence got information about a big german surprise attack to be launched next week against the innocent Sovietunion. The red army has been pulled back at all fronts from the border to avoid any reasons for the germans to start the war with a small incident. But the red army is waiting in full strength a few kilometers behind the border, and any german in uniform will be dealt with!

The germans were inactive this week, if we dount count a border crossing in the south. The intruders were attacked with tank heavy armies, to test their strength. The 3 german korps contained only guns and were easily destroyed. Maybe this was the incident the germans were wainting for...

Losses this week:

Axis/Soviet

0/0
0/0
663/0
0/2

In April, Russian diplomats have arranged to come to Berlin in the 2nd week of June to settle Russian land claims against Romania as they were concerned about Germany backing Romania and did not wish for war. Russia has used this time to build up her military power for a war against Germany. In the south, German and Romanian troops have been attacked and overrun by Russian troops with no formal declaration of war. Russia has claimed that these korps have advanced into Russian territory. Everyone knows that you can not plot through Russian korps, nor plot artilary !! This sneak attack by Russia has caused us to right the wrongs of our former ally. Hilter has ordered army group North and Center to unleash hell on the Russians, but has ordered army group South to wait for reinforcements from Germany.

Germany captures Brest-litousk and has encircled Bialstock. The latter city has been attacked but the entrenched Russians hold out.

Those guns were firing on soviet troops, and were holding territory belonging to the Sovietunion. They had to be overrun, every peace loving people know that.

The germans answered with a huge offense which, to put it lightly crippled the center and severly weakened the northern fronts. The red air force was massacred as well. The red army retreats disorganized... We only can hope the germans can be halted at Minsk. To give the retreating infantry some chance, one of our tank armies launched a counter attack and cut off the leading 2 panzer korpses adjecent to Bialystok. The foul tankers tried to kill one but were repulsed decesively.

In the north we retreated to a new defensive line. The german supply were cut, but not for long we fear.

Losses this week:

Axis/Soviet

634/415
125/206
384/495
95/213

The massacre continued, as our air force were blasted from the sky and our finest tank army was pushed aside easily by the mighty panzers. All of the arrogant self-celebrating of the red army is gone in 2 short weeks of the war. And we spotted a german radio message that this was only a recon attack! God save the Rodina! We begin to fortify Moscow...

No losses this week.

Losses so far:

Axis/Soviet

2574/7957
1727/2670
1366/7706
2929/4430

A massacre!

Lots of movement on the German front this turnand large air battles in the centre . The great tank losses so far is a big concern as these losses will be hard to replace. Russia's might airforce is causing Germany great losses and every turn there are more fighters wings to engage our tired airmen. Germany has called for more black men to help repair there damaged aircraft.

I hit your fighters with everthing that I have and once again it is heavy losses for both sides (866 German Aircraft / 1656 Russian Aircraft).

The equal exp of both sides fighters in this game has made the air war very tough with combat being limited to only a very small area of the front (In the center). To try and counter this, Hilter has ordered the creation of an experten air division (all airwings above 85 exp) that will be used to hunt and destroy enemy airbases. This airwing will be used for the 1st time next week and the hopes of a nation are riding on it's outcome. I think it is safe to say that the performance of this airwing will decide the outcome of the war.

Would any other player be intrested in a game like this one? I would like to play another one but try some different tactics.

The desperate red air force command ordered heavy bomber attacks on german airfields this week. The first heavy bomber unit got through minor axis allies fighter's on a northern airfield and caused great losses. Lighter bombers were sent in for some additional damage. More heavy bombers went after a german airfield deep in germany. Surprisingly it was completely defensless with nice bf's and fw's sitting on the airfield:) Getting gready by this light bombers were sent against a lot of enemy airfields near the front. Unfortunately some might got close to bomb, but most of them were massacred. The first somewhat good week of the war. But the red air force is near collapse.

Losses this week:

Axis/Soviet

aircraft: 1122/142

Me and tom1939 were so excited to get this game going that in our 40+ emails of rule talking and play balance discussions , we failed to get anythings set in concrete and this has caused confusion and problems in our current game. We have decided to back track our game to april and have agreed to these rules....

Prewar

1) Germany choses attack time, Russia is free to attack after 1/43
2) Germany can train/airlift airwings until 80 exp, Russia can not train airwing until she is at war

Rules when war starts

1) a target can only be bombed succesfully 3 times ( failed attacks does not count )
2) no changing line of commands
3) no changing commanding hq's if a armie has been supplied
4) Russian hq's within 3 hexes on the eastern border, okw, okh, western and southern front hq's can not be bombed unles a enemy korps is within 7 hexes of these hq's.
5) If a korp enters a swamp or mountain hex, it must stop its advance. Under snow or blizzard conditions, the swamps are frozen and are clear terrain.
6) Absolutely no other rules!

24/5/42 Rain Germany invades Russia

The German army launchs a surprise attack on Russia. the weather has not cleared up yet but our weather men predict only light showers in the morning and then clearing up. The Russian army has moved from the border and are forming strong defence lines further too the east.

Small air battles are taking place in the east and too our surprise we are encountering some modern 1st class Russian fighters that are holding there own.

Bialystok and Brest-Litousk have fallen without a fight
