NewBie - Some Questions

Post by jeffery88 »

Just got this game and really like it very much

Want to ask the following questions

1)When try to attack - there is a " 1/+1 " ..what does this mean
2)Why I sometimes can use my unit to charge and there times that I can't ?

Thanks

1)Those figures represent the modifier applied to the combat. The first one concerns your unit and the second one is for the enemy unit you attack if I have correctly understood.

2)In order to charge an enemy unit your unit has to face your target because you can only go straight away in such a case.So if you want to charge it could be better to change the facing of your unit before launching the charge.

Hope this answer to your question.

That's it's great strength I think. Like Panzer General and Civil War Generals it's a game both "grogs" and much more casual players can enjoy equally.

I haven't purchased this one yet but it sounds interesting. Seems like I buy everything Matrix publishes...

Anyway, along the Panzer General theme, is there a strategic component to this game or is it a series of battles without the ability to determine where you go next? In other words, can you for instance forget about invading Egypt and instead head straight into Iran/Persia?

No, this is a ladder style campaign, not tree style. Even so I highly recommend this game.

Perhaps in the next game in the series?

Alexander's campaign really needs to follow a path since that is important from a historical perspective.

The next game in the series does not require that, so there will be the opportunity to fight battles in a more-or-less random order. You will also be able to skip campaigns. However, there will be several historic battles that you must fight, and these will be scripted.
