The death of Isolationism! Kaleun vs freeboy

Post by kaleun »

Freeboy and I are starting our game again.
Non historical, all doctrines off, realism stuff on and +/- 15d reinforcements.
Only day 1 port attacks on Pearl, and no allied movt on Pearl on day 1.
Other house rules: No refueling anything larger than a DD out of a size 2 port unless TK or AO present. Also no non PT ships on PT TF unless for transit purposes.

Dec 8th 1942 Imperial Kapanese News

Pearl Harbor was once again attacked by our gallant piolets. The once proud American Battleships were once again attacked, many were hit, and USS California sank after a massive explosion, probably due to a magazine hit. A submarine was also hit.
A Dutch submarine in the gulf of Siam was depth charged, hit, and damaged, and a US sub at the Vigan landing site was also hit by depth charges.

The enemy mounted an attack by 6 torpedo boats against our landing forces in Legaspi. Some American sailors have shown that they can die with valor. These PT boats attacked our CL and DD fleet. All but one suffered a glorious death. It is reported that our sailors honored the enemy dead by throwing cherry blossoms into the harbour and also poured sake into the waters.

The repair yards in the Japanese harbours are expanding at a great pace. Admiral Yamamoto has said that the ability to rapidly repair ships damaged in battle will be crucial in the war effort.

Our decoy landing at Wake has succeeded in attracting the US carriers and making them expend large numbers of bombs on our light cruisers. [8|]

Our light carriers have moved into the Philippine sea and are causing great destruction among the enemy ships that are cowardly fleeing the philipines.

Pearl Harbor was once again attacked by our gallant piolets

W
hat is a piolet, Dr. K is again using all his forces to gain an advantage I see by these super uber pilots inclussion in the first wave... intell reports they are using a four month supply of a specialized drug allowing them to be able to take an early war advantage, stinkers!!!

From the News Desk of the Free World News:

War spills into the Pacific !!!

Dec 10
Sydney Australia, today reports coming from our US allies have been attacked at Pearl Harbor in a dastardly sneek attack, followed up by air attacks on the Phillipines and Hong Konk and Singapore. While we cannot confirm landings of troops have also begun at undisclosed locations in the MAly peenninsula as well as several Pacific island bases and the Philipines. The local political rallies where attended by thousands, wondering if our boys in Africa will be called home should they YAnks need our help kicking some Jap butt.

From the Western US Syndicated Times Dec 8th

WAR

Yesterday waves of Jap planes in an unprovoked attack rained bombs down on the fleet at Pearl Harbor, and while exact details are unclear, naval undersecretary Freeboy rreports Several large fleet assets damaged and one BB sunk.. unofficially. Fears of a JAp invasion are leading to mobilazation of all west coast defensive fortifications as rumers of spys in our midst lead some to speculate the large ethnic JApanees populace in the SF area may not be allowed to remain free. The Japanees also invaded Phillipines and Malysia, and Germany declared War on the US. It is expected the the US will seek a terrible vengance against JApan for this Terrible attack, this papar previously has criticised the Administrations pro war policies of rampant and aggresive fleet building and pro British policies... we now officially endorse any and all war efforts and call on all loyal citeezens to rally against these dreaded foes.

From the War desk.. some where in the PAcific combined Freeboy hq..

We are at it again, and from getting a beating from Zeta 16 has taught me anything, its not too lose my carriers for nothing.. early victories at wake as two JAp cls go down to the great lady, LEx to her friends, and assets are rapidly being mobilized to thwart a super quick expansion into SRA. I totally screwed up in Philipines aon turn one.. oops...
the slow and painfull grinding away at my troops has already begun, and hopefull K will flee Pearl waters after two successfull attacks,.. I know those planes takes damage from those attacks from my experience! Lots of damage therre too be sure.. but all three of my carriers are safe.. for now. as well as task force Z forming up somewhere in the SRA.

I really would love longe range torpedo carrying planes! damed jap planes are a real terror! thanks for reading this thread, next time we will get some screanies for you! btw he really ripped into my pt group ouchie

nice post k, sorry guys no screenies.. forgot [:-]
I am aware my cv attacking south of Wake is sooooo very much in dangere as k can get over really quickly, ala my demise in game vs Zeta16. I am retiring in honore having punished the fragile jap force sent thier.

from the headlines:

Brits Beat Off invasion attempts in Malysia! Nips attack PI
The valient British troops bravely defended against overwelming odds as the planes above harassed the shipps landingthe Japenees force north of Singapore. In the Philipine A large enemy force is ashore, and unconfirmed reports are the troops are digging in and praying for support. Our ships in Pearl Harbor are quickly being repaired and soon will region there brothers at sea in the counter offensive. Wake remains a solid defensive barrier, and several enemy light cruisers have been damaged or sunk near those waters by aircruise flying off the USS Lexington. Where she is and here sister CV's is classified.[/size]

So the US strategy is clear: Get the Japanese to use up all their torpedoes, and then counterattack[:D]
The enemy CVs will now try to flee. Where are they going? Good question.
The CVL light force is having a field day, down in the Sulu sea.
Appear at places to which he must hasten; move swiftly where he does not expect you.

My ships, cvs, are no match for those sake drinking swine, at least not yet. I now am picking the best defensive posts and making those slow early crawling stuttering steps of moving supplies and troops ! but who knows .. maybe I'll figure out how to launch 25's off a carrier!!! anyone think of some obvious leader choices to make?

An imperial TF including BBs Kongo, and Haruna, CAs Takao and Atago, and CL Jintsu, escorted by 6 destroyers, met with the imperialistic British force, with BB POW, BC Repulse, CA Cornwall, CLs Danae and Mauritius, CLAA Capetown and 6 DDs.

CA TAkao, Shell hits 3
CA Atago Shell hits 1
DD Arashio Shell hits 1 on fire (Yeah right)
DD Akatsuki Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Hibiki: Shell hits 5 Torp[edo hits 1 (this one might not make it)

Allied
BB POW Shell hits 1
BC Repulse Shell hits 7
CL Danae Shell hits 1
CL Mauritius Shell hits 10
CLAA Capetown Shell hits 3
DD Jupiter Shell hits 4

The enemy force retired towards Singapore, quite happy with itself, however....

and then

Sub attack at 22,51

SS I-121

December 14th 41

SS KXII attacked by ASW Gulf of Siam DC hits 4. sinks
SS Salmon attacks a training ASW TF twice near Takao, and is hit by DCs for its efforts.
Naval action in Brunei: Adm. Takeda with BB Ise and Yamashiro, escorted by DD Sanae attacks and sinks TK Angelina that was attempting to steal the oil from Borneo.
A pathetic attack on our TF unloading in Songkhla by 2 enemy Hudsons resulted in both enemy aircraft being destroyed. The Kichiku Beihei, in their desperation, do not hesitate to waste the lives of their young men, rather than admitting their inevitable defeat.
28 Kates from our CVL TF attacked shipping in Manila Bay; PG Asheville was hit by 8 bombs. No Imperial losses sustained. It appears that the enemy has emptied Manila harbor.
Kido Butai has been withdrawn from its station where it vainly awaited the enemy carriers to give glorious battle, and is now steaming in support of other actions. Orders to return to Osaka for well-deserved rest and relaxation at the famed Geisha houses of the city were shouted down by the eager piolets, who demanded to be sent into further action against the enemy.
Admiral Nagumo has been authorized to carry out one more action against the enemy before returning to base. It is hoped he will find the enemy carriers and sink them.

This action group formed around the POW was actually fishing in another area, but the react range set to 6 and k's bb force cause quite some excitement, looks like he got hit pretty hard, 5 or 6 rounds of combat? is that even possible? One report said engine room hit, major damage to Kongo, wouldn't that be sweet?
Not much else to report, my CV's have fallen off the map, do not think K has any clue where they are... he was last seen steeming past midway towards Wake and my carrier (s?) there...
The homeland mobilization begins in ernest with fleets assembling in all major ports...
I screwed up in PI and forgot to get the 17s out, so now they are bit by bit being patched out and flwon into new safer digs....
Tavoy falls...
and.. those Brits in MAly finaly hit something other than water as multiple hits aare reported on non escorted troops ships

It may amuse k to learn in PH he only sunk two BB's but alot of other damage, better than last game.. of course last game he missed BBs entirely as we used alerted US house rule... and then I promplty got several old boats sunk.. they suck at pretty much eveery thing ecceipt pounding shore bombards with lots of cap

afterthe first week, K returns to his strategy of carefully planned and successfull invasions of the sRA, burma and Maly PI.. He may have guessed that my carriers are not ate pearl... would that be fun? not really, I feel that avoiding his carriers and randumly ambushing him will give him the greatest grief.. last game he did the carrier in the rear behing the invasions waiting to counteratttack in SRA... interesting that we had a sevear bb battle without a clear winner... if anything I put a dent in his ability to bombard and that is a great thing will he is so dominant early on....

December 16th 1941

Mersing is bombarded by the Hyuga/ Nagato TF.
SS Salmon is providing great training for my ASW school TF at Takao; the young sailors will be ready to escort the oil and resource convoys that will soon start supplying the Homeland.
Tarawa taken.
Invasion of Malaya proceeds slowly, airbases at Khota Baru, Alor Star and Kuantan bombed to suppress enemy airforce. Attacks at Khota Baru repelled by allies, but with heavy casualties. Also at Alor Star, initial probing attacks reveal the strength of the allied defenses.
Hong Kong captured. Chinese forces expelled from Nanning, retreating towards Wuchow.
In the PI, Tugererao is taken. Lingayen invaded.
On the strategic front, ship repair stations have been enlarged throughout the Empire, for faster service of the damaged ships. Also the first advanced piolet training station has been established, to guarantee an ample supply of trained piolets for the greater glory of the Empire.

K seems determined to face the might of the British fleets.. Those cowards bomband and run, come back... His fleets are now much better after 1.3 at hitting my subs... note to self!

Tarrawa falls... wow now that is a surprise.. don't tax your self!
