AdmNelson vs Sveint

Post by AdmNelson »

This is my first AAR. Sveint will cover the other side of this in his thread.

Prewar --- Japnaese I believe will hammer PH, followed with invasions of the Phillippines and Malaya. Allies will try to build their defenses of Burma and DEI. In the following posts I will try outline what believe the Japanese will do over the following week(s).

Since we have started--- Japanese landing have surprised me. With the following in Boreno---Miri,Brunei,Kuching,and Singkawang. In the Phillippines only landings at Lingayen, Legaspi, and Cagayan. No landings at all in Malaya(that surprise me).

12/12/41 time frame is this point it looks like the troops earmarked for Burma will becoming to Malaya by road and rail.
Pearl raid netted the West Virginia and a few lesser ships. At this point the KB has left and is north of Midway heading to Japan. On the 10th the PW and supporting force tried to engaged transports at Singkawang, but ran into CA lead surface TF. The battle results were 3 Brit DDs sinking with a CL heavy damaged. Japanes forces had two CAs heavy damaged.

The following week Allied intel believes the IJN will attempt landings at Palembang, with at heavy push in Java by air.
Malaya HQ is going to dig in deep. It will take IJA forces another week to engage the first line of Malaya defenses. I have decided no pull out.

The CVLs have not been seen and we will wait to see where they are.

12/13/41 Sent the Pennsyvania with 4 CAs and 8DDs to OZ. Have to decide about the carriers if they should follow. All aircraft that can be shipped has left either the West Coast or Pearl for for South Pacific.

JApanese are building the surface forces at Singkawang. All cargo/tk that can take out from Java are leaving with fuel for Perth. PW and supporting ships are in the Java area waiting for offensive. As many aircraft that can be pulled out of Phillippines is being sent to Java. I having a tough time deciding if more ships should be sent from India to aid in the defense of DEI. First air raid of Betties(from Kuching) looking for ships;found the PW but resulting strike had no damage. Still trying to figure out what how to defense this push to DEI.

12/17/41

Pontianak fell on the 15th. Nells are flying out of Singkawang and not Kuching. With that I sent the PW and Repluse battle group to Batavia in case of an assault there. Nells from Singkawang hit the battle group with Repluse taking 5 bomb hits and PW taking 1 bomb hit. Only damage was a loss of 1ea 4" gun on the Repluse. Search aircraft have sighted a second surface battlegroup heading towards Pontianak. This battlegroup is probably the same that bombarded the Phillippines on the 9th. It conisist of 5BBs. Bombers out Singapore scored many hits on APs headed towards either Singkawang or Pontinak. The Battle for Java will probably start in a few days.

Japanese ground troops have finally reached Malaya.

In Burma it looks like only one division is pushing towards Rangoon. British ground forces are digging in and will defend Rangoon. Moulmein is being reinforced with the BEF bridage. A bombard group has left Columbo to the Japanese division moving up the coast. I normally would not consider this but Sveint has moved most of his forces towards DEI.

China-- Homan fell on 13th to over 200,000 Japanese. Sveint has moved 200,000 to the north of Homan crossing the river and moved up to Homan another 71,000 with 4 more units 60miles away.I have sent divisions as scouting unit towards Hsinyang and Chengting.

Over all Sveint moves have me concerned but, they are pretty much consinrated which gives me the ablitilty to know where most of the main blows will come from. The move to DEI does not have the KB. The battles will be heavy.
