Just purchased Firefight But Cant DL

Post by VicTabac »

Just purchased Firefigt for XP but it wont let me download it. I get the blue link button, but i get an error saying I do not have permission from the server and the filename is something like "firefightnoserialnumbers" or something. Any prompt help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don't know anything about firefight, or how to solve this, but have you emailed support@matrixgames.com? That's probably the way to go with this. This needs to be looked at by an insider. This forum is more for players helping each other out on issues of gameplay or computer crashes.

I tried that support email first and recieved an automated reply baby stepping me through the process of how to left click and save as and all that. I tried that second as well and have not recieved a response in almost a day now. I have just sent a third request to support email provided. Perhaps that will be the charmer, eh? This really was my last hope, I promise. Didnt mean to clutter forums!

Hmm interesting, they are actually still selling Firefight.

Isn't this the same game without a forum or much in the way of official acceptance?

Yep, just looked (had to be sure eh), this game doesn't have a forum.

I might be wrong, and apologies if I am, but hmm I don't think I can be chewed out for mentioning this game shouldn't likely even be up for sale if it is going to be given the cold shoulder like I know it gets. And yes, I know this games public record a bit.

I have the free downloadable demo (good luck finding that gem too). It isn't in the Members download section either by the way. I know.

A short capsule review, the game looks like a designer training tool at best. My advice, seek a refund, invest in one of the games that is worth the effort to obtain. 5 seconds with the demo, and you will thank me. It looks more like Close Combat's mentally disadvantaged brother.

This has not been an official opinion, I am just a member.

Oh-

Post by VicTabac »

Well, Hmmm, No I havent gotten any human responses from anyone yet from suppport@matrixgames.com. And Im far from uncool. Im sure it will all be worked out just fine. It's Matrix Games afterall. Just not on the schedule I would prefer it would seem. I got WitP flawlessly in minutes.

I had this vision of little warehouse gerbils or, perhaps they were Matrix elves, scurrying around with wisk brooms searching the racks and isles for some old title called "Firefight."

"No, that's not still on the website is it?" one elf asks another incredulously....

We'll see. Perhaps I'll get my $20 dollars worth just from the drama of "Will I get it today?"

Heh- Im sure many of you will check in periodically as well.

In the meantime, is it as fun as Ive imagined it might be? Will it bookend well with Half Life 2?
I see. Really sucks then. Hmm. Well, then, Matrix, the clock is tickin.

Still nothing. Nothing from support@matrix, thats why Im posting here. Four emails to SUPPORT@MATRIXGAMES.COM. I dare someone to tell me to go and write another email to support@matrixgames.com. I dare you. Someone will just to be a contrarian, but... but.... I guess Ill have to though, cause I cant get proper response from ANYWHERE.

Keep checking your e-mail, thats where it will go.

I know that it took one to two, three days to get an answer for me, it didn't resolve the problem I have with Steel Panthers World at War, and it still annoys me I have to play the simulation on a much lesser computer.

It also makes me less apat to purchase anything form Matrix until I see a change in problem solving on their part.

Hang in there

Ive gotten news: digitalrivers, the distributor or money handler, sent me another "Baby-Step" email. It was the same as the first automatic response I got: Please click such and such link, then Right Click and Save as.

It did go into a little more detail about how to search for a custom directory to save my new game to. A nice touch, but thats the least of my concerns or lack of know-how.

At least I believe Im in communication with a Matrix human now, thank you Marc.

Ahh, humans. That sinewy conglomeration of tasty possibility. Abject love and shapelyness, adornment ever to the lonely eye, mind and matter.

I have just crossed over into that place where money is no object. Time is no thought. Firefight, we hardly knew ye. $20 bucks who?

Ya know, it looked like an online game I played some coupla years ago on.. 2am.com if I remember (and it's just as likely I don't}. It was, or seemed like it might be, a lot of fun. It was multi only, though, played over 2am.com servers and evert time I played, it went a little something like this : "VicTabac, thanks for playing. Here's your Ass back. Please dispose of properly."

Anyway, I still dont have the game, or confirmation that I wont get the game. But, its Matrix Games after all! Like my twin would say- "What, me worry?"

You´ll receive the software on CD soon. Our vendor accountant from Digital River informed us that they will ship you the software on CD, even if its a download only product.

The download issue you faced is because of too many download tries. According to DR this is an IT issue with their server guys and they will look into it ASAP.

Sorry for the troubles.

Wow. An actual CD. Thank you Marc. Twenty bucks to watch the Matrix elves scramble. I like it.

Perhaps I should go and scrape the bottom of the Matrix Store again and see what other little hidden and or forgotten gems await. Who knows what little tactical tidbits might be swinging and brooding from the outer branches of our forgotten canon of strategy titles.

Super then.
