Can we have an additional scenario/option?

Post by Grifman »

Anyway we can have an option to have a war between the Western Allies and the Soviets after defeeating Germany/Japan. Or additional scenario positing that event? That would be interesting and fun I think.

I think it could be done by modifying the files and creating a new scenario. It would have to start after Germany was defeated as players cannot switch sides mid-game.

Hey Joel -

Long time no see.

Is anyone going to make an appearance over in the poor, ole, forgotten WitP Forum to calm the natives with some hopeful words?

We aren't the happiest bunch over there...

You ought to visit the WitP Forum yourself then, and get a sense for how folks are feeling over there about Matrix/2x3 at this time. You might have a few questions yourself afterwards about how folks who buy WatW might be treated a few months after they buy that game...

(one of many very unhappy WitP customers)

Joel - BTW - I can see that you are online. Do you really think that the deathly silence from Matrix/2x3 is helping things over at the WitP Forum?

I didn't realize the natives were restless. I occasionally look in on the forum and didn't see anything jumping out at me. I rely on Kid, Mike, Frag and Mogami to let me know if there is a problem, and I understand that 2 or 3 of them have been out of action a lot lately. I heard from Mike last week and he said that working on WitP 1.40 is his main priority so I assumed he would pick up any major items that need to be handled. I'll look into it tomorrow, but it would help if someone could point to a specific problem as the forum has too many posts to easily figure out if there is something critical that goes beyond the normal requests for changes (90+% of which IMHO are not critical but issues of individual tastes). Keith, Gary and I are heads down on GGWaW for the next 2 months, but that doesn't stop Mike from taking care of anything critical. I'll check in with Mike tomorrow as well.

By the way, whenever I'm at work I'm "online" in the forums, but that doesn't mean I'm reading them (that's a full time job).

Joel -

We have run into a number of problems that are becoming show stoppers, including teleporting troops, vanishing naval leaders, and LCU movement freezing.

Add these issues to the sudden realization that the Japanese player can capture Russia without a sweat and can take China in little more time and people are getting really frustrated and cranky.

It's gotten to the point where a lot of us are questioning the general playability of the game.

It doesn't help that everyone feels "abandoned" too. You folks didn't help things by vanishing - we all appreciate what Mog and Frag bring, but they aren't the "official" voices - you folks are.

It's not too late to turn things around, but Matrix/2x3 have a lot of damage to repair with the WitP customer base. Whatever you do, please don't think that things are "Business as usual" at WitP, and it's just a matter of us folks arguing "Zero vs Wildcat" again. If folks don't get some level of satisfaction communicated to them soon, those two months spent on GGWaW might be a bit of a waste, because few WitP customers will buy another GG game after WitP, the way things stand right now.

Sincerely,

Dave Baranyi

I'll talk to Mike about the bugs tomorrow to see if he is aware of them and/or already working on them. Has anyone sent saves for these bugs to Kid or Frag (please respond to me at jabgamer@2by3games.com if you have an answer for this as I'd like to stop hijacking this thread). As for China/Russia, my favorite strategy as the Japanese in World at War is to take out most of China by late 1941. Then I take Siberia from the Russians while they are busy fighting the Germans. Then I turn on the US/Dutch/British in 1942. Hard to say what should be possible, but we'll look into it.
