Mission Editing Questions

Post by reverend »

I've got a few questions concerning the editor:

- So far the only way I have found to set the starting time of a custom mission is to edit the .def file directly. Is this correct, or is there a way to do this directly in the GUI? If not, I think it should be easy to add in a patch. ;)

- Is there a way to create STATIC campaigns? Much like the training campaign, with the difference that you have to successfully complete a mission to be able to start the next one. It is "kind of" possible now: design custom missions and then add a number that tells the player which mission to fly next. But it would be nice to have it in a "proper" way, with medals and debriefings. (all static, or maybe debriefings dependant on certain aspects of the mission, like in Freespace 2).

- There are only a few planetside sectors. Are more planned? Maybe even more ground units such as APCs or tanks?

- When editing the placement of structures on a planet, it would be helpful to have at least heightlines available. A 3d preview of the terrain would be best, but probably too hard to implement in a patch.

I haven't got time to play that much (still in 1st dynamic campaign) but so far I like the game. Hopefully the editor can be made a bit more powerful for user-created content. This can really help to keep a game alive for a long time. ;)
