AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
This is going to be my first AAR and my first PBEM too, so please be patient both with my english and with my unexperience in witp.
For this match i'm taking the Jap side. Mc3744 will use the allied.
We decided to follow the main route and create 2 separate AAR. Mine shouldn't be read by him, the same for his. So please, do not bring , here or there, informations that we should'nt know. Thanks
Scen.15; Historical fist turn off; surprse on; Sub doc both on; +/-15 days reinforcments delays; no night bombing except for dedicated squadrons; Everything else turned on
I realized how huge and monstrous could be the first turn only when i faced it: it's just like controlling a pyramid construction!
The plan for the first week (7-12-41; 15-12-41):
WAKE-I decided to leave alone Wake for the moment. Too risky and do not want to be stuk out there if the landing does nt go smoothly, so i'm grouping 10 ML in tokyo with a Little tanker for refueling. These minelayers will cover the whole atoll with mines for the next two weeks.
I'm thinking of raiding PH only for one day with KB. I'm pretty sure he won't risk at all his 2 CVs around in a desperate fight, so better to preserve my best pilots. Just hope the weather won't ruin my plan...if so i will be forced to change the orders for KB.
SOUTH-EAST AREA
LUNGA- i know it's not a smart idea to occupy lunga too early, but i need to puzzle him a bit about where my stronger push is gonna be. HE will be forced to consider very early a fight back in lunga, cause i cannot permit to have a 4 level AF ( and so betties and nells ) menacing his OZ supply route. For this goal 5th NLF and 5 Cst Gun are sailing from Saipan( hopefully they'all arrive there in 3-4 days)
TARAWA-MAKIN - 52nd Naval Garrison will be split and invade these two atolls. intel says there a no enemy garrisons there( hope those guys are right). Not to risk too much the 52nd will be helped by the 2nd Maizuru SNLF in the conquest of Tarawa. The 6th Base Force is loading in a convoy, heading forward tarawa. i want to be able to build up an airfield here very quickly, so to manace his south pacific routes.
BAKER- 51st Naval Garrison is committed for the attack on this island.
APANAMA- 6th NLF has been ordered to invade and occupy the last atoll of the Gilberts
RABAUL- this base must be secured before he's able to reinforce PM with planes and troops, so that i want to occupy Rabaul and settle down very very fast. 66th naval garrison,1st SNLF,8th NLF, 7th Naval Costr. Bn. are sailing from Truk towards Rabaul. Hope these troops will be enough to kick those kiwis out of there in 3 days
30th Special Base Force( from Palau) is ready to be sent to Rabaul as soon as it is conquered.( but i'm considering to shift its destination to Davao. Only the results of the first 4 days will tell which option is best)
Gili-Gili- the 7th NLF in Bonin island has been ordered to plan for gili gili. TF 72 is heading towards bonin from Tokyo to be ready to load these guys in 3 days( i hope ).
SOUTHERN AREA
The PI, as usual, is a gamble. I need to stop the biggest number of vassels fleeing away and at the same time conquer Luzon as fast as i can, in order to be able to move quickly the bulk of my troops to the south for the Giava Battle.
LUZON- LEGASPI- 1st Kure SNLF ( without any bomb TF). They MUST do their tasks alone for the moment.
105th Base force is heading for Legaspi, in order to set up a very good AF just in the middle of the Philippines( hope this AF will operate in coordination with the one i want to establish at Aparri)
NAGA- here is my main change from the historical plan. I diverted the Bomb TF which was originally commissioned for Wake , to bomb Naga. This will be helped by another bomb TF ( 6 ). At the same time the 16th Division will leave from AMAMI towards NAGA. Hope this will be enough to secure the eastern part of luzon
BATAN- the gamble here is to try the first airdrop operation in the pacific. Yokasuna 1st and 3rd SNLF will be airdropped on the isle by 8 trasport chutai leaving from Taichu.
APARRI-Shuzan Nav. G.+ the 104th Base force will land here on dec 7th. In 3 or 4 days i should be able to reinforce this front with 31st and 32nd NLF units.
LINGAYEN- here will be concentrated my biggest landing effort. TF12 will bomb this base and cover the landing troops.
65th Bde and 48th Div. will land here and secure the landing zone.
8th field Arty and 1st field arty will join the party
2nd tank Rgt.,15th eng rgt.,16th Naval Guard,18th aviation Rgt will follow in 3-4 days max.
I have some more units in reserve at Pescadore, Tainan and Taan which could join the PI expeditionary forceres in few days if needed.
From the airfields of Tainan and Takao the whole bomber forces are ordered to strike Clark field and Manila.
2 Subs: I-122 and I-123 will mine bataan waters
MINDANAO- DAVAO - The main goal here is to secure quickly davao to build up a poweful AF and support the next operations in the area.
Sasebo 2nd SNLF,56th Bde and 22nd NLF will leave Palau and sail towards Davao. No Bomb Support group.I know it's risky but just cannot find any ships available
JOLO- 23rd and 21st NLF in Palau have been ordered to plan the invasion of Jolo. Hope to be able to do it in less than 7 days ( the real problem here is that at Rabaul i'm already at 5k supply left:-( )
If these guys will have any problems i have ready the 1st and 2nd NLF + 31st Special Base F at Tainan to accomplish this task.
BORNEO- I really do not know what to expect from this operation. No Air cover, no bomb support at all. Those guys will be left alone on those shores. Just want to secure as soon as i can Brunei and Kuching so to be able to fight in a good position against singapore.
BRUNEI-9th NLF,28th NLF will leave Camrahn Bay and sail towards that big oil port. Miri will be conquered only later on.
KUCHING- 35th Bde has been ordered to conquer this AF which is so important for the air superiority in the Area.
9th Base Force will follow
SINGAWANG- For the moment i ordered the 81st and 91st Naval G.U. to plan an invasion. Hopefully i'm going to be ready for that in 2 weeks.
At the moment the easter side of Borneo cannot be taken without too many risks, so i decided to wait and see how things will go at Davao and at Jolo. I just need some more supply at Palau to keep on advancing in that direction. ( a 50k suuply convoy has been ordered from Osaka-10 days?)
INDOCINA-MALAYA - I thought a lot about sending a strong Transport TF directly to mersing, avoiding Kota Baru and Kuantan so to isolate Singapore, but having no CVs in the area , and considering those damned duch torpedo bombers 1 hex away, my gamble remained in the cupboard^_^
KUANTAN- 23th Bde,11th special base F.,23rd AA rgt,16th tank rgt.,6th tank rgt.15th costr.Bn.,5th Eng.Rgt.,56th Division,3rd mount.Gun.Rgt,18th Heavy Field Arty,14th mortar Bn.,4th Mix. Bde, 21st Mix Bde.
All these units should arrive in one week the latest( i hope ). their Goal is to secure the base, Build up an Air field, where some oscar and zeros will be parked, and anvance towards Malacca, to cut in 2 the peninsula. A strong BOMB TF will be covering the operations.
KHOTA BARU- for the moment only the 18th div will be committed in this operation. A Bomb TF will cover. 2 Base Forces are raeady to move in as soon as the base is secured.
SONGHIA- 5th div, as always.I think i'm gonna wait untill the Imperial Guard Div arrives to move it towards Alor Star
7th AF constr. BN + 119 IJAF base force are sailing to join the 5th Div at Songhia
VICTORIA- Imp.Guards Div + 1 Tank rgt, moving on foot trought Bankok railway.
The 4th Mix rgt is marching to Saigon and will be ready to be loaded to support the KUANTAN forces in a week
33rd div is marching towards RAHAENG to join the Burma HQ.
55th div is moving towards TAVOY( probably joined in a 3 weeks by the 1st tank rgt.)
The Indocina Air forces are ordered to Bomb SIngapore, Kuantan, Khota Baru and Alor Star
The 2 Paras units are moving towards Taan to be ready to embark and sail to Bankok( i want to use them in Burma or at Toboali-i will see)
CHINA- In china , for the moment, evrybody is planning to Attack Changsha. The first week will surely see very few fights in this theatre. The usual move from Canton to Honk kong has been ordered however.
At Kagoshima 2nd Div,8th Tank Rgt, 1st Eng Rgt and 17th H.Field arty have been ordered to plan the invasion of Sosabaja.
At Nagoya the 4th Div is planning for batavia.
the 8th Base force is moving to osaka, in order to be ready to be shipped in the southern area.
14th Base force and 14th NLF have been loaded on a TF and are moving towards PALAU
3 50k cargo convoys are loading fuel and supply at Tokyo and Osaka. They will Load supplies at Palau, Truk and Kwajalein
I-121 and I-122 are mining the port of Singapore
10 Ak have been converted in AR
3 Ak have been converted in MLE
2 Cargo convoys are loading oil and res at Sendai. The will be supporting the Toyohara industries
The CVL RUIJO won't support the PI invasion. I consider a waste of aircraft and experienced pilots, and with those nasty Claudes i do not want to risk that valuable ship to be shot down by a lucky B-17 yankee crew^_^.
So, all the CVEs-CVLs are ordered to meet at Osaka, here form a little CV TF and then move south to support the naval activities around Borneo.
All the Aks,APs,Pgs,PCs,DDs,MSWs thant are not stictly needed for the offensive operations have been ordered to move to osaka. I want to set up 3 big convoys, strongly escorted, to be ready to collect res and oil as soon as SRA is secured.
All the subs around PH have been moved. The subs with float planes should be in key poits of the ocean to have a good idea of where is moving his CVs
A lot of changes have been made in the industry system. To support these changes it's a MUST to secure SRA very very early....let's see.
Here we Go!

good luck!
From my experience, B-17's are not significant threat for your CVL's....i always use them for support and intercept allied merchant fleet form PI.
Didnt Palau better place for meeting your little TF? (it's closer to DEI)
just my 2 lires[;)]

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
I have experienced ,at least twice , vs. AI my CVL hit by 500 kg bomb from a lucky b-17. I think i cannot handle the risk to loose( even if only for fw months) one of my CVLs.
Palau was probably a better place, Yes. The point is that i want to upgrade 2 claudes groups which are attached to Home Base HQ( exp 80-81)and put them on the small carriers. Palau is running out of supply( only 5k at the moment). So it was a forced decision.
Thanks for the input! really appreciate
What d'you guys think about the forces i committed for PI? will they ever be enough to smash McArthur?

Hm, didnt you think about committing your two CVL's in malaya invasion? I know there is lots of subs, but there will be also to many target for those disgusting subs. For example, put away 18 claudes from Zuiho (and let it upgrade in japan). on first turn transfer understrengh daitai of claudes to zuiho - carrier capable) and send baby KB in Borneo/Malaya area. then you can provide more aircover for your transports, and british bombers are no serial threats. Just be sure to keep outside the range of opponents TB...maybe i'm becoming boring, but it seems to me that preserving your force at the start of the game will be counter-effect...
for Philipines, im not sure. I stuck in PI very early, so i waiting allied run out supplies (air bombardment). I would say that you need to capture Malaria free zone (Clark Field or Manila) as early as you can. Manila would be my choice. But for that you will need more divisions...
good to see a neighbour AAR:)

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
You're not boring at all Pauk! Every suggestion is better than well accepted.
There are two sides of the hill: it's sure that my invasion TFs will need aircover around Singapore, but at the same time i've had very bad experiences with light CVs that use only claudes. Sincerly the risk of loosing one of those light carriers is too high for my pourposes( in term of victory points and not operationally).
BTW...yesterday i read on the forum that there's a terrible bug concerning A6M3 , related with 1.3 patch, that prevents you from using those zeros on the carriers. So to say that there wont be any upgrade for the zero on carriers untill A6M5 comes out....that's just a game killer bug, so i asked my opponent to restart the match using Scenario 32 MOD by Tanaka, which corrects this oob problem.
I'll edit the first turn AAr as soon as my opponent accept my proposal.

Palau
Palau is the Japanese weak spot IMHO. I find that it is short of supply all the time, so I send out convoys (2/3 x 7000 AK) from the Home Islands every 3 days or so ...
Good luck BTW

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
Mc3744 has approved the idea to go back and start again with Tanaka's 32 scenario, in order to be able to skip the A6M3-non carrier flyable-bug.
So here we are. I have planned another Turn 1. Jap plan for the first 3-4 days will follow.
HAWAII:- KB striking force will raid PH as usual ( just changed 1 zero group from airfield attack at 100ft to escort and 60 CAP at 13k ft.).
The subs in the PH area will move around, trying to avoid the massacre from allied ASW. 3 float planes subs with other 3 normal oceanic subs will look for targets in the area between SF and PH, the others will patrol the pacific route from PH to SUVA
GILBERT:- TARAWA: the isle will be invaded by 51st Naval Guard and 6th Base Force.A Strongpoint will be created here in order to extend the menace to allied supply routes.(DAY 1)
MAKIN: part of 52 Naval Guard will attack here.It will be soon reloaded on APs and dispatched in TARAWA ( DAY 2)
APANAMA: the remaining forces of 52nd Naval Guard will conquer this atoll and go back to TARAWA ( DAY 2-3)
BAKER: Maizuru 2nd SNLF will estabilish a beachhead here (DAY 2)
All these troops will leave from Kwajalein. Here a Claudes Sq. has been converted to A6M2s. Mavis and Betties are patrolling the area.
BISMARK-SOLOMON : - LUNGA: this big isle will be invaded by 5 Costal Gun Rgt and 5th NLF unit.( DAY 3). Minelayers will soon cover the beaches with candies
RABAUL: Maizuro 1 SNLF, 66th Naval G., 4th NLF, 7th Naval Constr. Bn,24th NLF will try to land on day 1 and push back the aussies to Gasmata. I want to start menacing PM before he's able to fortify it.
SHORTLAND: 4th Costal Gun Rgt., 8th NLF ( DAY 1). I need a base closer to Lunga than rabaul.
In this area i want to rush fast. The idea is to conquer PM and make Lunga a fortress before March 42
PHILIPPINES: LUZON: - LEGASPI: Kure 1st SNLF will land here on DAY 1, supported by TF 13( bomb tf). 21st Base Force is ready to land as soon as the 5 size AF is secured.
NAGA: 16th Division from Anami will land here on day 1,supported by TF6( bomb tf). On days (2-3) 2 regiments of the 4th division from Nagoya will join the battle.

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
The Allied first turn has been postponed till thursday.
I'm really lookong forward to see if the so extended jap first turn moves will be a succes. I'm becoming paranoid about Rabaul. From many AARs it looks like without a strong Bomb.Supporting TF and some Air attacks from Truk , taking Rabaul with limited forces is more than a gamble: it could easily turn into a debacle.
I also hope to take out Hong kong quite fast, in order to deploy 2 regiments fighting here in the PI.
Really thinking to march south, after the fall of Singapore and PI. I'll try to take out at the same time JAVA and Port Moresby. Just cannot let him have the time to fortify New Guinea and the solomons.
Rangoon and Burma will be only a secondary object for the moment.

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
While i'm waiting for the beginning of this match i'm trying to elaborate a kind of long-term strategy. This will probably need to be changed a lot during the course of the war, i know that, but i need some goals in order to be able to plan well my tactic
As i said before, i want to drive south. I firmly believe Port Moresby and Lunga must be taken quickly. These two strongholds, if properly fortified and mined can be defended fairly easy with a brigade and the Allies will have to pay for every metre of beach gained in an hypotetical invasion.
the point now is obvious: Japan simply cannot have all. I have to decide what to exchange for my southern drive. I'm thinking of stopping the advance of the 15th Burma Army at mandalay, but i fear chandupur AFs. From there, in 6 months or so, the RAF squadrons can reduce my bases at the stoneage. At the same time, if i move my best daitais to the south-east area i cannot defend the skies over Burma.
To solve this problem i'm thinking about a diversive landing on chandupur, after the fall of Singapore and Rangoon, with something like 2 divisions. Take the city and advance towards north, untill i reach the mountains. If i manage to set my southern front line here, i should be able to hold this line for 2 years i hope, hoping not to use more than 3 divisions and 2 Eng. Rgts. If so, i should have the time to conduct my operations in New Guinea and Solomons.
When and if the PI,DEI,and SRA fronts are stabilized i think i'll move few divisions in Truk area.
Also thinking of raiding Darwing.Take the city , fortify it and leave it, as soon as i can. What i'd like to do here, as at PM and Lunga, is to take advantage of the beginning strenght of the jap army, occupy strongholds, fortify them, and let the minimum garrison indispensable, retiring the bulk of my forces in a rear base, making a king of elastic defence. Forcing him to pay high prices for every base he wants to recapture. How many american divisions would have been needed in 42-43 to get rid of the jap lunga garrison if this had been an entire division?
At the moment, the real pain is the supply issue. I have 3 large bases( taan,Palau and truk ), which, after turn 1, already need a lot of supplies, being already at "red level". In the next month or so i will use a huge amount of supplies in order to conduct offensive ops and i'm kinda worried about where i'm going to find this supply.
In china i still do not know what to do exactly. I'm trying to flank him in the north. the mongolian cav.army is marching north of yenen, while the core-forces will advance towards the big city. I'd like to do some "pocket-battles" around yenen-changashga( ??) and Sian, but i'm strongly worried about supply needed for these ops.
In 2 months i'd like to diverte his attention trying to conquer Wake. I simply didn't want to risk for it at the first turn, but i know that with wake in allied hands, things can be deeply problematic in north-pacific for the japaneese naval assets.
Post scriptum: i'm sorry for my bad-spelling english[:(]

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
Here we go!
Those guys at the intelligence office in Tokyo have surely made some big mistake! The damned imperialists were aware of our attack at Pearl. they managed to fly away the bulk of the pacific air forces. The fleet was there probably just because they didn't have time to run away. Yamamoto expected much more from this attack.Only 4 BBs were badly hit and no signs of sinking was reported by our pilots. The same happened in the Philippines. Clark Field, place that untill yesterday was full of A/C was a desert. The strike ordered on Manila port has been canceled for no reason. Our 16th division found a bitter resistance at Naga. Few Aps were damaged and the destr/ fat. level is already 65/54. At Rabaul the landings were a mess! So many casualities! The 4th Fleet HQ ordered with a radio message to the 5th NLF( originally planning for Lunga) to divert and join the Rabaul invasion force.
Same for Borneo. While at Miri no opposition was found, at Kuching the landing has been bloody.
In Malaya the Al shocked Tokyo. No real air defence was found at Singapore. The airfields in the whole Malaya Pensinsula were empty. A Strong force(18000 men reported) was seen moving towards Songhia. The British are probably evacuating the whole area to fortify Burma. 19th INJAF Base force has been ordered to move from Soghia's beaches to Saigon again.
At Davao 3 MSWs are already burning like torches, due to the intense costal gun fire.
A Little KB (2 CVLs and 2 CVEs) are moving from Osaka bay towards Macassar strait. Hope to support the future landings in southern Borneo.
An SS was lost, but at least i now have a little idea of where he's moving his CVs.
The KB has been ordered to raid again PH port. This will be our last chance to sink some important ships. tomorrow, whatever will happen at PH, the KB will move towards Truk.
In China, enemy troops have been seen north of Canton. I fear he's trying to force me to shift some forces from the Plan for Hong Kong.
Hope to conquer Legaspi this turn so that i can place here some betties and nells to stop the evacuation from Luzon and Mindanao.
Losses are low, but the same for him. 33 for me and 66 for the allies.Really really bad!

Never seen a PH attack like this
Also the Z force is running away. The british admiral was really lucky to escape from Nells attacks( that were not so decisive i'd say!). I moved 2 daitais of nells to Bankok, trying to keep Z force in range, but their fatigue is higher than 30 and i do not expect any good results for tomorrow.
Rabaul is a mess! It was my mistake to have undesrtimate the strenght of OZ garrison. Now i'm stuck on the beach, waiting for the South Sea Det and 5th NLF to come in support.
The second day of KB in Hawaii was really depressing. In the morning bad weather didn't allow my a/c to take off. In the afternoon a oversized strike went on a single AVD, and later on a TF composed by PTs! What a pity! 6 pilots lost in this stupid raid! I found a great number of P-40 over PH. They escaped from the first day raid and now they're operative! I'm getting really really upset about early results in Pacific theatre.
The only good thing of the day was that a a sub has spotted the enterprise. ( see the map). The KB has been ordered to move southwest and look for it. Subs will follow her moves in big circles.

I lost contact during the daylight hase with enemy CVs. I only know he's moving them between Wake,Midway and Palmyra. My subs are patrolling the entire area. KB is coming from east. He can't escape southwest or he'll face my torp bombers stationed at Kwalajen. It's a hard hunting session!
Rabaul now is a problem.Simply do not have men and ships enough for the entire south pacific area. I've overstimated my chances....
In malaya i have some probabilities to cut the way off to the 30k men running away. For no reason the Imperial Division is stuk at 45/300 miles since 3 turns. The 55th div + a tank rgt should be at victoria tomorrow, just one turn before the first allied unit comes in. If i manage to create a big envelope i can be quite confident about taking Malaya sooner than expected.
Z Force was lucky and brave. They managed to get at Rangoon, where the Entire AVG is covering the skies above. My nells refused to attack without a good escorts( only oscars and nates now at Bankok, while the zeros have been redeployed with some betties at Kuching-prob a stupid idea). I know for sure i'm gonna pay an enormous pirce for Rangoon with AVG and Z force there supporting the defence.
Mini KB is moving smoothly towards Mindanao.
In China i'm tryin not to show too much my moves. the siege of hong kong has started, but 2 units had to remain in defence of Canton.
Yenen and Changasa the next objs.

Lady Lex and Enterprise are lost. Could not find them today. I had such a bad weather over KB that even if they were in the proximity my search planes could not have taken off. Tomorrow KB is going to be replenished and then it will move towards Truk, then Palau where it'll meet mini KB. My subs will keep on looking for enemy Cvs but now i'm not so confident to find them. The whole allied fleet is not accepting the battle: this is upsetting Tokyo so much!
overall results are less than sufficient. I was too predictable while he played smart and fast. Now i'm kinda stuck. Gotta find out something new...

Gotta find out something new...

hi....
your opponent choose racional strategy, but the best thing for you it's not to lose a head and start executing risk operation. That's exactly what he want.
here are some thoughts/hints.
1. use IJA aviation in cordinate strikes (more ac - less casaulties). Decide which are most important targets (i don't see any reason for attacking Hong-Kong port, for example)
2. when your LBA finish hounting for enemy AP/AK/TK's, set (part of them) for airfield attacks on targets which you dont want to be fortified (eng units always repair af first!). Use Lilly's for those targets.
3. be careful with attacks on oil-resource centers. I've stuck at soerboaja (or whatever) and after fierce battle (several turns) i captured soe. with ALL damaged oil/resource (0,0). phew![:(]
4. China. Actually it is good for you that your opponent is active on this front. I know it could be a unpleasant feeling when 100K chinese attacking, but he will have problem with supply. If he already isn't in trouble. Belive me

Thanks for the tips mate!
You're right about the HK bombardment. My ac at canton were moved , not to risk to loose the if the worst comes. They will attack grund troops at Canton from 13-12 on.
For the rest, i do not want to use Navy bombers for land targets. They're too valuable!
China is a problem for me at the moment. My envelope movements around Changasga are very slow and at Yenen is even worse.BTW the main original plan is still on it's way.No changes for the moment. My biggest concern is about allied losses.Too few either of a/c s and ships. He was smart and lucky about that!

The enemy CV-TF has been spotted again. KB is getting closer at max speed. Tomorrow, if the weather gods will not be against japan again we could be able to engage. No time to refuel.Hope this won't be a problem.
Allies are lucky.A Bomb TF has been spotted by some nells just 3 hexes away from Kuching. As always bad weather didn't let my bombers to take off and now , having to face a strong night time bmbardment, i had to move nells and zeros out of the area, taking them back to saigon. APs have been ordered to leave the port and go back at full speed to Saigon.
55div is now in a good position to stop the march to Rangoon. When and if the Imperial Guards will arrive i would be in a good position to close this great envelope
At Rabaul 5th NLF has landed.Still to enough. Now i've ordered to defend the beachhead and wait for the south seas det. that is on the way.
At Luzon i'm still waiting to deploy my forces. In 2 weeks we should be strong enough to launch the final assault on Manila and Clark.

RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
I like your strategy. My only advice: just don't go in a hurry mode. You have plenty of time to get your first goals. I'm playing Allied in two PBEM games. In the first Jap had a slow start but now (June 42) is doing pretty well. He left me a lot of bases in PI and DEI but they're of no use (Out of supply and helpless isolated), he will gain all of China very soon and I'm on defensive everywhere but Gilbert. The second player started very well, he took all DEI and PI (February 42) but he failed to move Southward. Rabaul and Solomons are now heavily fortified and I hope to give him a hard fight right there. Basically, the first player is applying the pressure everywhere while the second has lost much time against secondary targets. Yep, he has lot of VP but I feel very confident, while I'm a little bit worried about the other game.
Just my two liras and... Fallo nero amico!!! [:D]

No new signs od CVs in the pacific today.I decided to refuel KB and go slowly to Truk. My subs will keep patrolling but now i have little hope to find Enterprise around.
In china the tide has changed i think. The armies are creating an envelope around Changasha. Canton should now be safe and HK won't last forever! The Yenen zone is developing slowly , but my plans are for a decisive annihilation, so i must be patient.
1 more week and i sould be able to attack Palembang and Tarakan. Troops are ready and waiting for some available trasports.
Mini KB will support the Tarakan effort.

I know i know...you need to be calm when u are in chief of the whole nation in arms!:-)
It's quite strange to play against someone who evades every attack you make. Being my first Pbem mathc i wasn't really ready to face something not stupid like the AI. But i'm having so much fun that i'd say even if i'll lose in 1942 i'll be happy about this match!
Fa piacere sentirsi rincuorato da un connazionale[:D] Siamo già in 3...pensavo peggio! Non mi ero reso conto ci fosse dell'italica gente da queste bande![:'(]
RE: AAR-The Italian Affair--Hoepner vs. mc3744
He MUST evade every attack, you cannot believe how "naked" [8D] do you feel as Allied until you have been able to bring reinforcements from WC to the line. And when he'll be able to do so, you'll have much more fun. [;)] I forgot to mention but I agree with your employment of CVLs/CVEs, basically they contribute nothing against DEI (my humble opinion, of course!)
