He made a big Sally strike at kunming today. I have begun to shift a lot of my fighters back to Burma so he got some very good hits in against the Resources there. My dutch Brewsters put a bomb into one of his AKs off Waingapu. And that is about it...all in all it was another very quiet day in the pacific. Based on my intel it appears his Broome party is over as I noticed them retreating to the nort. A good thing to be sure.

West Coast

For some reason Yorktown went to San Diego despite orders to the contrary. I disbanded the group. I am sending Sara back to San Diego, where they will form Carrier Group two for ops in the western Pacific. I have multiple transport groups now streaming from the west coast. His subs should be very busy and if he moves his carriers back up to catch them....I will respond with Yorktown and Saratoga.

Midway

The base is coming along nicely, my ASW air found a sub southwest of the island and I have dispatched a passing destroyer group to look into it.

Pearl Harbor

Brimming with supplies, over 100K. I have a lot of damaged warships sitting in the harbor right now. After the last disaster I am holding off on transiting them to SF until IM sure his carriers are out of the area. Part of the sudden movement of big transports groups to the central pacific is to test his reaction. If he slides his carriers over to interdict my transports I'll know its not safe to move the battered warships, if not, I will move them....I don't want a repeat of the Arizona. My ASW air crews are getting good here. Sank one sub and spotted 4 more. Destroyers enroute. I have embarked South Pacific HG and the 78th FS (P-39s) aboard transports. They are headed to Noumea, though they are taking the long way to avoid any air interdiction he may have set up on the trip.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

China is messy. He has 100K troops at Hengchow now. He has 16 armored cars blocking their retreat via the new ZOC rules. Kind of shitty. I have two divisions of chinese troops 60 miles away from these cars...hopefully they can arrive in the next day or two and blast his troops out so I can with draw from the pocket.

Burma

The 1st Burma continues to hold on. Just amazing to me. Akyab is becoming a first class air and land base. Mandalay is coming along slower...british and indian troops continue to stream into the area. I do not believe he will be able to just slide in and take Burma at this point. He will have to make a major commitment and I dont think he is interested in doing that.

Malaya

His army has begun to cross into Singapore itself. The final seige of Malaya is at hand.

DEI

Nothing new

Australia

His two carrier groups are steaming north now. I believe his fleet carriers are headed home. His escorts appear to be headed northwest no doubt hunting for more transports.

PM

PM is coming along nicely. I would like to add some more fighter groups there soon. SInce Im sure it will become the focus of his attention. I am also now eyeing landing troops at Gili. he has not been very active here, so I am enjoying the time I have to build up the area. 3 more B17s flew from Rabaul today leaving just two damaged ones there.

Noumea

Nothing new

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

The troops have arrived and should begin landing today and tomorrow. No sign of Xarg planes ships or troops so far. This quiet little op is a success...again if he ants the area he will have to take it, I am just trying to give him a harder time.

Carrier Group One.

At anchor in Auckland.

Carrier Group Two

Forming in San Diego

28 days until Hornet is available.

He struck soerbaja with bombers today. He caused heavy damage to a sub that was repairing and a beat up AK. I had dutch Brewster get through his CAP and take a shot at Shokaku...ah ....that would of been nice. 4 of my dutch PTs caught his carrier group off of Waingapu....causing him anxious moments no doubt but his cruisers and destroyers shot them up before they could get into range. 80K Xarg troops poured out of their foxholes in a deliberate assault on Hengchow. It will fall in a few days...I no longer believe I can break through to them in time with my divisions since he is blocking the road with my guerrilla type units.

West Coast

Carrier Group two has now been formed at San Diego and is underway towards Hawaii. I do not intend for them to pass hex row 126 unless Xarg's carriers magically appear.

Midway

I have docked an AV here to help with the air group support.

Pearl Harbor

Still chasing subs.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

Really not much more to do then watch Hengchow fall. Very frustrated about it. I have done all I can to save the chinese here...this one is painful

Burma

The 1st Burma continues to hold.
Malaya

The final seige of Malaya is at hand.

DEI

He bombed Soerbaja today, Im sure my flak hurt his bettys and Nells...

Australia

His two carrier groups are steaming north now. How lucky would I have been...PTs getting a kill on a carrier ah well.
PM

last two b 17s to depart tomorrow...Ill get their morale up and go back in a few days if Rabaul is still mine.

Noumea

Nothing new

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

okay the troops are here, the supplies are here now I need some engineers to build the airfield.

Carrier Group One.

At anchor in Auckland.

Carrier Group Two

Underway west of San Diego

27 days until Hornet is available.

I slid a couple of PGs and a DD into Akyab to try and clean out all the rat infestation there. 1st day they sank a Japanese submarine..!! good work. Let's hear it for the Canadian navy, they also sank a sub off Seattle. Xarg did put a torpedo into one of my troop ships off San Diego. He bombed Kweiyang overnite...guess he got tired of the bomber losses. My Brit bombers slid in over Hengchow to deliver their iron gifts....trying to delay the inevitable. Rangoon was heavily bombed. Poor Xarg you are just destroying the place ;)...there is noting there but some chickens. The bastard [8|] put a cap over Singapore and shot up my transports who were pulling the Aussies out...guess that ops done.

Another deliberate attack against manilla ends in dead Xargs. Better luck tomorrow.

okay so he had about 12K in troops at Balikpapan...[:-] guess my attack wasnt such a good idea :D

Another assault on Hengchow the fort is down to 2....not good.

It may be time to boogie out of Nanning...he now has a big infantry division there (19th) and my poor chinese divisions can't handle it.

54K troops are now assaulting the 1st Burma. ....and they continue to hold.

West Coast

Carrier Group two is steaming east towards 126 hex line. The west coast is now a sea of green...transport groups everywhere. He torpedoed a troop transport in the old Baja expressway...the ship should make it back to San Diego.

Midway

Spotted a sub...sending destroyers to deal with it...probably the same sub I have been chasing.

Pearl Harbor

Still chasing subs.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

I have ordered my troops out of Nanning...before he can close the door out of them...they will fall back to Kwieyang where the next big battle will take place. Still nothing major happening in the North, which surprises me knowing how much he covets Lanchow.

Burma

The 1st Burma continues to hold. I have spotted two subs at Akyab, asw forces enroute.

Malaya

The last evacuation plane has landed...not much more I can do here.

DEI

nothing new

Australia

Time to clean up the devastation at Broome.

PM

I Corp has landed. I now have 22K inf and support personal here.

Noumea

Nothing new

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

Scratching for some engineers. I may move some from Australia.

Got another sub at Akyab. No more free lunches their for his sub boys. A major air strike over Akyab he hammered the Therk Hiddles and the two PGs that have been chasing his subs around. i guess lunch is still free.

51 thousand chinese troops surrendered at hengchow today. Not a happy day.

West Coast

Carrier Group two is steaming east towards 126 hex line. No new sub sightings though I'm sure there are some there...

Midway

Still chasing that sub with my destroyers. Midway is fairly secure...its going to take a lot of firepower on his side to take this place.

Pearl Harbor

Still chasing subs, they are slippery. I put together a small task force of 3 cruisers and 3 destroyers to begin the trek to the SF yards. The cruisers will need quite a bit of time in the yards.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

Weird I ordered the two divisions and HQ units I had in Nanning out towards Kweiyang and they went southeast towards wuhow. My guess is they are following the rail, the problem here is he hold wuchow...so now i get to lose two more divisions...grrr.

All air in china will stand down and reform.

I did move some blems to Kweiyang. They will bomb the port of Hong Kong and catch the ships repairing there.

Burma

I did a lot of rearranging of the air. He has been running fighter sweeps over various places I hope to catch him here and there now.

Malaya

The seige of singapore continues.

DEI

There is a surprise brewing for him. If it comes off today I will talk about it. Operational security and all that :)

Australia

Nothing new.

PM

I Corp has landed. I now have 22K inf and support personal here.

Noumea

Nothing new

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

Moving a base force from wellington. He has a sub about 120 miles away (2 hexes) so the jig maybe up.

Really a quiet day overall. His shock attack of manila cost him a thousand troops.

And now it can be told....

Carrier group one is not in Auckland. Due to operational security I have neglected to tell you guys that I spent about 2 weeks moving Carrier group one under Australia towards Broome via Perth. The operation "Molly Brown" was original concieved to get my navy birds into the fray without risking my carrier group. Once he started pounding Broome from his carriers I thought I could take a shot at him. Sadly the day before CG One could launch its planes to Broome he ran north away from them.

I sent them on anyway. From Broome I sent about half of them (F4F3s and 2 Squads of Dauntlesses) to Maccasar which is well within range of Kendari. I sent the other squad of fighters (Buffs) and 2 squads of dive bombers to Banjarmassen. The idea is to place my carrier planes on unsinkable carriers and harrass him in DEI. They will attack, move, rest, attack move rest. If he returns to Australia and hangs off the coast the way he did last week...I will regroup the whole wing and take pokes at him. He needs to feel some fear...hopefully this will help that.

My navy planes at Maccasar took a shot at his Carriers and Kendari...too much CAP. They will move to their next spot, wash, rinse, repeat.

As I told him when he mentioned he saw planes from VF2...his free lunch is over.

My only regret was I didnt have time to convert the fighters to F4Fs...which will make for some 1-sided air duels.

West Coast

No new Subs. Carrier Group Two continues its trek west.

Midway

Nothing new

Pearl Harbor

Chasing subs mostly.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

Retreating most of my air for rest purposes. He has revealed that he intends to go North to Sian and Lanchow. If he follows up I hope to give him a bloody welcoming in both places.

Burma

Well I am as set as I can be here. Operation Raverdave has been successful. 1st Burma continues to hold on.

Malaya

The seige of singapore continues.

DEI

Lets see if the American navy birds can do anything to challenge him here. My first strike is against Balik. He has a TG of BBs there just sitting, if my planes dont go there I have assigned them to hit the port. Stick and move.

Australia

Nothing new.

PM

Nothing new

Noumea

Nothing new

West Coast

No new Subs. .

Midway

Still building up. Ready to fight now however.

Pearl Harbor

Dispatching the rest of the 24th Infantry to Midway. Now considering what units to move to Canton Island.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

I have ordered teh 1st CBS (IL4s) to bomb Tianan where he has about 30 merchant ships bottled up. Kweiyang remains badly undersupplied, a fact that I just dont understand. He is not laying on my supply lines anywhere...I am flying supplies in, but...

Burma

Well I am as set as I can be here. The Calm before the storm....as I wait patiently for invasion.

Malaya

The seige of singapore continues.

DEI

Okay rather then stick and move IM leaving the navy birds in place for another day. Since the only attacks that flew off were against that destroyer group. Unless he is paying careful attention I doubt i will see a response. Perhaps my planes can find some juicy targets today.

Australia

His week long visit all but destroyed my airpower here. If he returns he will have a great time down here.

PM

I ordered about 12 B17s from the 5th BG to Rabaul from Noumea. Party over Truk...60 plus ships in port. No doubt they will be met by fighters.

Noumea

Supplies enroute from Australia.

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

Moving a base force from wellington.

Carrier flyboys on land

Post by Capt. Harlock »

Interesting move with the carrier airgroups. You lied to we loyal readers -- but then again I should have known you wouldn't just swing at anchor for very long. You might also want to consider that airfields are unsinkable, but they can be overrun by IJA hordes.

If you happen to know, what are the rules for upgrading aircraft at land bases? Does it have to be a major center like Sydney?

On a totally different subject, what are the prospects for the 1st Burma. I assume evacuating them by sea is out because of the land-based air threat.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

My god is this the truth. Do not let the airfield you are basing at be bombarded (as if you can stop it).
Remeber that the addition of naval bombers is likely to change the airstrip colour of the base they are at. Therefore he will know where you are basing your planes: MOVE THEM!

Not good. He is bearing down on them. I may go try and get them, I have a transport group unloading at Akyab right now, Im just trying to weigh whether it would be worth the cost of ships and men to retrieve them. On the one hand all his bombers would come out to play (and be subjected to my fighters)....on the other, I would lose ships.

RE: 1-21-42 scratch 1 cruiser!

Watching my subs miss his shipping with their great American torpedos is an exercise in true frustration. Watching the Shokaku and Zuikaku sit in port in Kendari is maddening...Im going after them with B17s. My Blens struck hong kong today...no major damage... My Truk air attack netted no shipping, moving these guys to Amboina next I think.

Operation Molly Brown has netted some big results. First, my dauntlesses put a 1000 lber into the destroyer Yamagumo off the coast. Welcome to the war Xarg [;)] Then they but many bombs into the Cruisers Kumano, Chokai, and Suzuya all at at Balikpapan.

The 2nd Wave put more bombs into all 3 cruisers and adding Mogami to the hit list (2 bombs) including registering two magazine explosions on CHokai and Suzuya. Chokai, sank. I'm sure his bombers will attack the three bases i am operating from so I will be making a run for it. But its nice to see an Op work!

West Coast

Found a sub off LA...doing the car chase thing with it.

Midway

Still building up.

Pearl Harbor

Yorktown and Saratoga are inbound now. Not sure how long they will stay, no sign of his carriers.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

I have shift fighters to Sian to counter his recent bombing attacks there (24th FG). I have also shift an element of the 24th to Lanchow to aid with the British bombing of his airfield at Yenen. If he is coming to Lanchow, I want to make it as painful as possible.

Burma

I have ordered the 1st Burma to march northwest out of Rangoon. They may get caught by the leading edge of his troops. We will see. I cannot justify a seaborne rescue of them. The cost in ships would be too high. If I had tranport planes in the area I would try and fly them out.

Malaya

The seige of singapore continues.

DEI

Time to move my navy forces....No doubt there will be an angry assault of all three airfields that did the damage. At least he now knows the DEI is no longer a Japanese lake.

Australia

Well, if nothing else Broome has been avenged.

PM

Withdrew the B17s from Rabaul.

Noumea

Supplies enroute from Australia.

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

Moving a base force from wellington.

He has taken to night bombing again, hitting Chungking, Samarinda, Banjarmasin and Macassar. The DEI attacks are the predicted attempts to supress my dive bombers...long gone ;). My Destroyers finally chased down that sub near Midway. My Brits have begun bombing Yenen. I intend to sustain this until their morale drops to below 50. He hammered Singapore today...more then 70 Lilys. My flak chewed his planes up, but man...74 runway hits.

My navy boys found no targets today...time to move them to their next spot.

He made another deliberate attack on Manilla today, costing him about 300 Xargs.

Love the new patch..seems smoother running and the new alerts (AF builds) is nice.

Yorktown and Saratoga are inbound now.

Wake

DEI

No targets appeared to the Molly Brown crew this turn.
