Mission file editing questions

Is there a way to manualy edit the mission .txt files in order to :
1. add damage;
2. add weapons (like preloading fighters or Capital ships);
3. Add/the Armor values;
4. Reduce the fuel level;
5. Increase/decrease max shield level.
