New Format

Hi, I was wondering if any one cared to try a new format for AAR. I will be starting 3 new games soon (As soon as I finish doing turn 1) Erik R,/Bosun/Brady
I can't keep up with so many AAR so I am interested in sending the replays and game files to a third party. He could report the game and try to explain Japanese movements.
Kind of like Thayne news in that the writer of the AAR would be reporting but not playing.
Since the combat text reports are so dry and a good AAR needs screen shots and such but I sheldom explain enough. The writer would have complete freedom to report anything. (I just hope the other players don't use the AAR for intell)
There are several things I really would like to track.
Unit/Leader/Pilot experiance gains.
OOB used in operations
Submarine operations. (which sub did what where)

But there is just not enough time to play and also record everything.

Any ideas?

This sounds like a really interesting idea. I'd be interested in writing one. I think it would be an interesting way for me to learn about the Japanese side of the game too.

Hi, I think since the AAR will always be behind the action it is safe to do this. As long as we keep the AAR 10 or so days behind the game it's intell value will be slight.

Not a bad idea. I know it takes me two to three times as long to write up my turns as it does to play them. It would also give more of a "historian reporting after the fact" feel to the AAR. ("Historians believe that High Admiral Mogami was planning...." [:)]) Should make for interesting reading.

Hi, OK Roberto I sent the file to your email. It is before Allied orders (you load as Japan) then you can study the prewar layout and orders for turn 1. Then just execute the turn (end turn then load as Allied player and end turn) Load again as Japan and execute. Then you will see where everything is going. We just don't know what the Allied player is going to do.

Interesting. I actually thought about volunteering to do something like this for somebody who does not like to write AARs -- writing it like a sports reporter covering a game, giving a play-by-play as it happens. If I were to discover some game-ending bug, I may opt for something like this rather than starting my own game from scratch.

The tricky part would be in not giving away any information that a "neutral" third party would not have available.

But, alas, I do not have the time . . . as long as my own DAR continues. It does take a bit of time.
