The Last Days Information

Post by Erik Rutins »

The Twilight Struggle…

Europe, Spring 1945: The Last Days of World War II claim countless victims on all sides. Victory for the Allies seems a foregone conclusion, but Germany fights on.

Witness in more than thirty dynamic campaigns the events of these final battles in the airspace over Europe. See what could have happened if the German counter-offensive during the winter had been successful. Every mission counts, the stakes are high and the situation is desperate.

Fly in one of four theaters: Lvov, Berlin, Hungary (summer and winter) and the Ardennes. The Last Days includes more than 1,600 Solo, Dogfight and Cooperative missions as well as over 450 new historical aircraft skins.

This new add-on has incredible depth and originality and offers IL-2 Sturmovik™ fans a new experience with tons of playability!

• Add-On for IL-2 Forgotten Battles™ and the Ace Expansion Pack
• Compatible with Pacific Fighters™ (IL-2 Forgotten Battles™ required)
• More than 1,600 Solo, Dogfight and Cooperative Missions
• 33 New and Detailed Campaigns covering five warring nations
• 4 Theaters: Lvov, Berlin, Hungary (summer and winter), Ardennes
• More than 450 brand new historical aircraft skins

You should correct your web page to specify that you need Forgotten Battles AT A MINIMUM to utilize this add-on. Your web page and announcements have said:

"The new unofficial expansions, Case Blue and The Last Days, both require either IL-2 or IL-2 Forgotten Battles to run and are compatible with the ACE Expansion Pack. Additionally, The Last Days is also compatible with Pacific Fighters."

Note the "EITHER IL-2 OR Forgotten Battles"

No big deal, I'll go pick up FB, but you got me to buy under false pretenses [:-]

Thanks! I really agonized over this compatibility issue before buying. I probably should have just waited and posted the question first. Of course, if there is a way to use it with IL-2 (original) that would be great. Just post the instructions [:)]

Yep, just the original... but just ordered Forgotten Battles and Ace Expansion from Amazon to resolve my problem.

Thought we'd updated this in all places, where are you still seeing the old info? Thanks.

You still need to go back and revise the December 21st initial announcement of availabilty on the Home Page "News and Events":

<< Matrix Games and X1 Software Announce Two Add-Ons for IL-2 Sturmovik Have Gone Gold

Matrix Games and X1 Software (www.x1software.com) announced today that they have completed production on two expansions for the game IL-2 Sturmovik. The new unofficial expansions, Case Blue and The Last Days, both require either IL-2 or IL-2 Forgotten Battles to run and are compatible with the ACE Expansion Pack. Additionally, The Last Days is also compatible with Pacific Fighters. >>

Note that the two following news releases say that "Last Battles" and "Case Blue" are IL-2 "add ons" and do not mention "Forgotten Battles" at all while saying they are compatible with "Aces" and "Pacific Fighters". Again, this would lead someone to believe that all they need is IL-2 to use the expansions.

I note that if someone goes to the "More Info" button they will see the notation that it is "Add-on for IL-2 Forgotten Battles and the Ace Expansion Pack" which is fine, but everything up front is still misleading. I would just flat out call it an "IL-2 Forgotten Battles" add-on every place you mention the two new packages. That would resolve things very simply.

No one else seems to be bitching about this so it's probably a tempest in a teapot, but thanks for listening!

And also the original David Heath announcement posting contains the same erroneous language. That needs to be edited as well.

It really is amazing how many different ways you can get the erroneous compatibility info.
