1. There is no way to change from carrier trained to carrier capable. What you can do is disband part or whole carrier capable squadron into carrier trained squadron to replenish it with planes and experienced pilots. Be sure to answer YES to the question about returning squadron in 90 days.

2.
- Put som surface combat ships in your transport TF (CA, CL, DD)
- Prepare your ground units for the attack by setting it's objective (you have to do it up to 3 months before you attack some really tough nut base, for smaller undefended don't bother, I usually set the unit to plan for some major operation in the future, and land it on several smaller bases while it is planning).
- Disrupt and disable enemies defending the place you want to invade. Bombers are good for this but you need a lot of them for the large bases, bombardment TFs are also great, but make sure you sweep enemy planes from the area before you send it in. In both cases you need something that lots of players forget - recon, recon, recon... [:)]
