Building TFs

Post by Ed Cogburn »

Given my complaint in the PacWar forum about the difficulty in removing ships from a TF, how is this going to be done in WitP? I'd like to see a TF "construction" display, with icons (give us an option for small or large icons) on the lower part of the screen for all ships in port, and ships in TFs already in existance there. The player should be able to use the mouse, so that when the mouse crosses over one of the icons, a detail display pops at the top of the screen. The player can then right-click on the icon to do one of several things that are displayed in a pop-up menu or a line across the bottom of the screen. The options should be 1) add to TF under construction, 2) return to port, 3) Adjust number of ships in ship group, 4) Scuttle ship (or 1st in group), 5) make ship (group) the flagship of the TF it is currently in. If the player selects add to TF, the ship (group) is moved from its current position to the TF being constructed, which is shown at the top.

Would you guys consider throwing up some screenshots of the interface as you currently have it?

Good ideas, Ed. Also, it should be quite simple to name a new TF commander while at sea. I resort to the expedient of creating a small cruiser-destroyer TF commanded by Adm. Lee so that the battleforce can be formed when required. This should not be necessary.
