But what about your video card? What version of DirectX is it capable of running?

You could be in trouble if its a 3DFX card with less than 8Megs of Video or less than DirectX8+ compatibility.

These are all just guesses based upon similiar games. Usually official system spec requirements are given when a game is released, if even then in some cases.. [:D]

we are working on the final system req's for GGWAW, but i would recomend more than 240 Meg of RAM. With 512Meg the game runs a lot better.

You will alos need a video card that has at least 16meg (maybe more) video memory. I can gaurantee that the game does not run on an 8Meg video card.

Really? I'd be very suprised by both of those? 240MB is a lot of ram for a Win98 machine running a 2D game. Maybe not enough for XP with all the other stuff XP users tend to load. Other Matrix games list memory requirements as low as 64MB(in UV's case).

I'd also be suprised by the lack of 8mb video card(or suspected 16mb) support as again all other Matrix 2D games seem to support them.

Are there significant animations or other reasons for this that differ from other Matrix 2D titles? I'm just curious.

Won't matter for me as I've got really nice hardware but I'm also watching this game for many friends and even some relatives, not all of whom have hardware all that much better than the graf's.

This game is a 2D game using a 3D engine, so it does suck up a lot of memory. This is an unfortunate side effect of the way we handled some of the map graphics in order to get them to look especially good. Believe what Maurice is saying as the game does require a lot of memory to perform well. We aren't sure yet what will ultimately be needed, and we do hope to do a few things to cut down on the memory requirements.

And what I've seen of the graphics does look great!

I know a horde of people who are C&C Style RTS nuts and actually bought the latest Axis & Allies game thinking it was going to have more of the boardgame "strategy" feel. Some of them that thought that hadn't even played the board game but knew what it was about ("Strategy and Stuff" [:)]). Nearly all of them were dissappointed with the game especially in terms of it not really being that "different experience" they were looking for.

What a wonderful way to sell them on GGWaW. So I've been highly recommending it to everyone I know!

Hope at least some do decide 2 take the plunge.

So many of my friends and work associates I can't play wargames with (Alright nearly all of them).

GGWaW is gonna change all that and be the perfect stepping stone for my plot to turn them all into wargamers. A&A is too easy, HOI is too hard, GGWaW is just right!

So even though I like the more complex stuff too, I'm still VERY eager for this title.
