I forgot to post the Ships sunk situation.

ALLIES JAPAN

AO 2 0
TK 6 0
AP/AK 74 1
ss 1 2
AUX 42 7
BB 1 0
CA 2 1
CL 3 0
DD 7 3

In the end not bad. Japanese losses are limited, but i'm gonna pay the price for letting the Z force survive! Now RN is gonna be a problem in Burma

Are you kidding?[X(]With Jap LBA the RN is a liability if used.

RE: Ships sunk.

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

Ron, even if Rangoon AFs are ut of action for the moment, at Akyab he's got more than 50 fighters, many of which are from the AVG( patch 1.40).My LBA suffered extreme casualities in the past weeks trying to stop the shipping to/from Rangoon. My worries are if i lounch a massive landing behind his lines (chandupur) i know that i have to use my KB to protect my convoys and to threaten his RN. Having the closest base at Bankok, my navy bombers won't be very usefull in the Begal Bay...and with something like 100 bombers and 70 fighters i'm gonna experience some troubles...at least these are my thoughts about that

Strategic plans for mid-42

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

Here's the large strategic map for what i plan to be my defensive perimeter by mid-late 1942. I've marked in light blue what should be the strongholds and in cream the weakest points. as you'll see i've abbandoned the idea of taking Timor and PM. At the moment these objective seem nothing more than wet dreams, as long as the well known problems remain in China and Burma.
Wake-Marcus island can be a problem, like the Saipan Area. I'm already planning to fortify these areas in the next week, sending base forces and some troops there.
I know that tarawa would be hard to defend. That's why i'm planning to strongly fortify it and keep a mobile fleet in the area( KB2 and a surface ship of 2BBs,4CLs and some DDs).Some more zeros will be dispathced here, with betties, in the next weeks.
Lunga cannot be forgotten. already a base force, a NLF and a costal gun rgt are there. More NLFs and Engeneers will join the party there by the end of Jan. Shortland already recieved its Base force, its NLF unit and a costal gun rgt. Munda will soon be occupied and the AFs will be built by a base force. Wewak and Rabaul should operate as base to cover the western area of the New Guinea. Lae...well, i've included it in my plans, but i'm still unsure about the risk , in terms of pilots, ships and resources, that i will take trying to hold this place against the PM fortess.
JAVA, with op. Yellow Marble MUST be taken by the end of Feb. Sosarbja and Bali will operate with Kendari base and Ambonia as defensive strongpoints facing th southern perimeter of this area. Balikapan and Tarakan will act as deep defense bases.
China and Burma...well...i hope i get ASAP the men from the PI to lounch BELMONT2, in oder to destroy the enemy front in Burma and make the entire northern allied defence collapse.

I'm a dreamer! i know

You can halt the Ki-54 now. You have plenty in the pool. Either halt it or convert.
I would only build the H6K2-L Mavis for 1 more month and then convert it.

I noticed in the beginning that you did not change the Nate production in Manchuria yet there seems to be no production of Nates. Did you change it?

Nates production has been stopped the first day of war, as planned
KI-54 has been stopped today. In the next week i'll considering changing some Hitachi engine production.

Tomorrow 5 units will attack Kendari. I know it's probably too much for Kendari, but i do not want to risk anymore. Time is money for Japan!
Tomorrow another NLF unit will unload at Palembag, moving up to 4 the units that attack this location.
Many AP/AK/MSW/AS/PC/PG/TK/ML have been ordered to move to Singapore, bringing with them 2 HQ(one naval, one air), some engeneers units and few other stuff.
At Reaghen 2 more allied units joined the party. It's clear that he wants to break here my front. the 55th will move towards Bankok from Tavoy. Here at Bankok i'm preparing the second line of defence. In the base just north of Bankok(1 hex away) 3 eng units are building up forts( already level 3) in order to give to the possible retreating units from reaghen a stronghold where to hold the enemy's advance and eventually push them back.
Pagan is empty. this is good. As soon as he'll begin to attack Reaghen i'll use 3 paras/SNLF unit for an airdrop behind him, and, at the same time the HUGE Invasion TF will sail from Singapore!
No more planes at Rangoon. It became too dangerous for him to stay there with his preciuous P-40.My bombers are now free to bomb Reaghen, Mouleim and Rangoon itself.
1 small Bombarment TF is moving towards mouleim.
1 HUGE bomb TF will tomorrow be set up at Singapore. Its destination is Rangoon! Let's go there and burn supply!
In China , tomorrow, the first troops of mine will be starting the siege of Changsha. His bombers have been smashed on the groun for 2 days in a row(more than 30 destroyed!)
In South Pac he keeps on mining tarawa. More minesweepers are coming and some more ASW ships will join the party. At the same time from Kwalein(sp?!?) one AA unit and one eng unit are salining to Tarawa.
the 2 KBs are waiting at Rabaul and Saigon for new orders.

RE: Strategic plans for mid-42

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

The second siege of Changsha has officially begun. this city is the key of the comunications between north and south, and i need this base to lounch a strong attack to liberate the south from the jaws of those bastard chinese!
Still heavy fighting at Yenen and Manila, but no ground was gain neither today. This situation is becomming dangerous for my overall plans.
At Singapore i've assembled a bomb TF with 4 BB and 6CA. Destination Rangoon. But my recon spotted ML righel who was mining those waters. No planes were lounched against him and this will cost the head of the commander in chief of the Tavoy Base[:@]
Now i cannot bomb rangoon without risking one of my preciuous BB. the bomb TF will go for Mouleim instead.
At reaghen something like 900 allied tanks are ready to kick my ass. My bombers seem not to can do the job of smooth them down , so i'm preparing to be pushed back[:(]
Kendari was taken today.Palembang tomorrow i hope.
Next Obj is Benjarmais(sp??) and Bali or Macassar....but before i can think about the Yellow Marble op( the conquest of Java) i need to get rid of McHartur at Manila

Ok, finally The Chinese front seems to get better. It took me 3 weeks to get out of the Changsha mess. The city now has only 22 industry points, and all to be repaired! This is the price for my stupidity! But i do not care now. We'll soon move southwards! i want to cut the Canton sieging army!
At Manila the battle keeps on going on.
Tomorrow a Base force unit will unload at Kendari, setting up another AF for my airfleet.
Palembang should be reduced tomorrow. This Base will be the main AF in the upcoming battle for Batavia.
The first oil/resources Convoys left Brunei,Miri,Tarakan and Balikapan, bringing with them the hope of all the nation.
KB1 is standing quitely at Saingon, waiting for new orders.KB2 left Truk. Will be raiding the seas around Canton Island, some allied covoys have been spotted by my recon subs in the area.Still no signs of allied CVs
At Burma the Bombardment of Rangoon and Reaghen will go on. At the same time 2 BB TFs will alternate each other for the reduction of Muleim. The 55th division is moving towards Bankok from Tavoy, while 2 mix brigades, 1 tank regiment and one naval guard unit are encircling the enemy guerrilla unit in the northern part of Malaya.
The overall situation is not very good, but it was worse one week ago. Now that the changsha problem have been solved, some more units will be free to operate for the liberation of the railway in the south of China.
I fear that Java will be heavy fortified when we'll land there.... but i'm quite confident about Burma now. If i only could trap all those units at Rangoon, landing and conquering the Chandupur area, the gates of India will be open to my armies.......

100,000 Chinese in the bag! Fantastic!

Sounds good , doesn't it?
I gotta say that i've been surprised of this result. He just let his guys die there so easily....well, i take this chance as it comes. What's really important is that now my army can roam free again. The price paid is the delay in my offensive plans and the destruction of the industries there. That's bad, but at the moment, this is the best result i could hope to achieve

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

Palembang fell today. One step more for the Yellow Marble operatio( the invasion of Java).
In China, the troops that conquered yenen will stay another day in the city, behead some Pow and relax a bit, making suffer the population. They've been ordered to prepare the attack over Homan for the next month. this operation will include the conquest of Sian, a big Kesseslach(sp?!) operation.
At Changsha my men are already movin' southwards. A Big encirclement of Henchow will destroy what remains of the chinese in the south. The Canton siege must be taken off ASAP.
In Burma a day like many others. It rained like the judgment day and few planes managed to take off. I'm pretty sure with the new year we'll see a lot of Great Battles in this area!
The KB2 is moving. Some land based zeros will assist it providing High altitude escorts.

nothing more to say at the moment.
I'll be back with the AAR from 2nd Jan 2005.
Stay tuned and Have a good New Year's Day!

Post by PeteG662 »

When you first enter a battle try to bombard with your artillery more to soften the defenses, make him use supply, and disrupt his attacks. Do not let up the pressure in Manila since he recovers when your troops do. Use the artillery while the infantry rests......

RE: Pubblic executions at Changsha

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

Nothing much to say. It's a quite moment over the pacific. Japan is re-organizing for the next stage of war( i.e. Op. Yellow Marble (java) and BELMONT2- (burma-Chandpur) ). The allies keep on reinforcing their lines at Rangoon-Reaghen-Mouleim. I sent some MSWs to open a path in the minefields at rangoon, so that i can go on and pounding from sea the Burma Capital, while my army bombers can freely bomb Reaghen and Mouleim.
My KB2 is moving towards Canton Island, to intercept some of the convoys that are moving in that area. No signs of his CVs for the moment. I have to remain cautious using my KBs
3 zeros daitais have been redeployed at Saigon,Truk and Kwajlein(sp?!).They'll operate as tactical reserves when needed.
I hope my divisions at Manila will soon be in combat fit again. I really need to speed the operations in the PI, in order to be free to oganize the invasion of Java.
the 11th army in China is moving twards Hanchow(sp?). another big encirclement is panned.

RE: Pubblic executions at Changsha

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

some of the guerrilla allied units have been eliminated in Malaya.I've put in the bag some more 20,000 allied men. All these sub-humans will be judged in Singapore by the general in chief of the Southern Area Armies for conspirancy and sabotage to the Empire war effort.
Nothing more to say. A turn like many others. More allied ships spotted at Palmyra and Canton Island. I believe these two isle will be the major allied base for the counter offensive in the Southeast pacific theatre. My KB2 will operate for the next months in this area (marshall+solomons) with a surface fleet as support. The Marshalls will be strongly fortified. I do not want to leave Tarawa alone, so the AFs and the forts will be built ( at the moment level 2 for both) and 3 daitais and 1 chutai of zeros will operate as land based air cover. 3 Betties-Nells Daitais are already placed at Kwalein(sp?!)
At Tarawa now there are 2 Naval Guard units, 1 costr.batt. unit, one base force and one costal gun Rgt.
tomorrow, i believe, we'll see some more action
