Autobattle point ratings question

Post by dbt1949_slith »

Why is cavalry rated so low? Time and time again I fight battles manually with cavalry against infantry at 1-4 0r 1-5 odds and beat them pretty regularly.
This is my first game as the Macedonians where I get good heavy cavalry(as well as heavy infantry). When using the cavalry the odds are almost always against me in the autobattle but I'm able to win pretty handily by going to manual battle. I'm not fooling myself into thinking I'm some sort of genius with cavalry.Surely most others are having the same results.
They are expensive to maintain tho.
Thanks!

I think tactics plays a part here. I don't pretend to be an expert, but I've certainly experienced great success using my light cavalry in a flanking or envelopment move. Having horsemen crashing in on the enemy's flank and rear has to carry a huge multiplier effect.

Now if you are just doing a frontal attack with an all cavalry force against heavy infantry... well, then I have no idea. We're not talking Medieval Knights on armored horses crashing through helpless infantry here.

Would love to hear from some other more experienced players on this!

My old Piczo site seems to be gone, so no more Navajo Nation pics :(

Hi!

I'm sure Iain will give you a detailed answer, but from what I can remember, the game is basically designed to require you to fight the battles manually. Going to autobattle heaps on huge losses. But I'm don't remember exactly why.

Mind you, it depends on the situation, but if the odds aren't too bad and you have experienced troops with lots of modifiers, autobattle usually results in a percent loss across the board of all your units and a win.

So I could suffer significant less losses usually if I went manually then?
