RE: 30 January 1942
While waiting, I am thinking of posting my expanded industries on here for your guy's opinions... Or at least what industry each base has now (I doubt I remeber exactly what was expanded and by how much). Are you guys interested or not ?
Yes, let's have a look.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

i noticed a lot of your productions are in multiples of 4. any reason for this??? 12,16,20,24,32 etc...

Hi, Your going to get multiples of 4 quite often because when you expand a number below 100 it doubles. (over 100 it adds 100) A factory with a starting size of 0 adds two when expanded first time
So the arms factories that start as 0 (there are 2 I think) become 2 and from then on double 2-4-8-16-32-64-128 (now add 100 where allowed)
Since this is the means all facotries were created to start even existing factories follow the same path.
So the arms factories that start as 0 (there are 2 I think) become 2 and from then on double 2-4-8-16-32-64-128 (now add 100 where allowed)

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

Exactly... Look at a lot of the starting sizes... lots of 2's and 3's in shipyards which - when expanded - end up at 24 or such...

Yeah we are back to fighting [:)] Rob and I are both home from holiday travelling and Rob having to go to Texas for a bowl game and now the war will continue.. Although I will admit I will need some time to get back into the flow and remember all my plans...
Well the turn starts off with more night air raids. 19 Blenheims (both type I and IV) raid Yenen, causing no damage - figure he's going for the airfield. He also sends a trio of B-17s to hit Rangoon - no damage - figure he's going for the air fields there too. In those raids report claim 3 Beinheim damaged as well as 2 B-17s... IJA night attack on Samarinda airfields were more successful, getting 1 supply and 2 runway hits with no losses.
My Bombardment TF returned to Koepang for another shot at those SBDs on the runway. It engaged the 3 PTs left there and hammered one (73 hits) and sunk it with no return fire.. Then the TF turned around and left... I think I forget to reset it to a bombardment TF after last turn - and it probably auto converted to a surface TF... Argh.... Now it doesn't have the fuel to return again and has to limp home to Kendari for fuel...
I also sent in a daylight raid on Samarinda airfield consisting of over 60 bombers. They claimed 27 men as well as 6 airbase, 2 supply and 13 runway hits.
Air and Arty strikes in China claim 84 Allied men and 3 guns.
A large chinese bomber raid struck at the IJA 6th Tank Regiment north of Hanoi. My LR CAP claimed 1 SB-2C bomber and reports indicate 4 tanks and 39 men lost. The bombers can in at 1000 feet and my zeros on CAP did not do a very good job.. Oh well.. win some, you lose some.. I have dozens of tanks in my replacement pool, so I'm not worried.
An allied Sub (US sub actually) struck at an ASW TF hitting a PC with a torp. Somehow the torp must have expoded prematurely as the PC survived and should make port at Palau without trouble.
An IJN Sub located an allied AK and put a torp into her side. Unfortunately the AK survived and no further attacks were made.
My arty strikes on Clark Field were good today, claiming 200 men and 3 guns. The arty strike on Singapore was poor, only claiming 27 men. The forts at Singapore must be good and I'm gonna have to start actually attacking soon if I want to take the base.. Luckily my 2 ENG rgt just landed at Mersing and will arrive in Singapore in a few days to lend some engineering support to the attacks so I can destroy the forts faster.
A Shock attack on the surrounded 21st Chinese Corps was repulsed. IJA forces lost 128 men and 2 tanks, while only causing 26 allied losses. The Corps has to be heavily fatigued and low on supplies so I have ordered another Shock attack - the last barely affected my men's fatigue or disruption. The 1st Vietnamese Division is leading the assault.
My NLF landed on Tawi Tawi last turn and captured it unopposed this turn.
That is about it.. I have created a cargo TF and placed several fully loaded AKs and TKs hauling resources and oil from Balikpapin.. I have also placed several DD escorts as well as 2 heavily damaged CAs. They will make best speed eastward away from Allied bases before resuming a normal speed for return to Japan. The oil and resources will be offloaded as the damaged CAs head for repair yards.
I am conducting a heavy night air raid on Akyab's airfield to keep the number of Hurricanes down. With the new version, my zero bonus against the AVG is gone, and I need numbers on my side, so hopefully my night air raid will claim a large number of his fighters at Akyab.
My subs are also chasing 5 or 6 allied TFs all over the map including a TF fill of damaged ships from PH - been unable to attack it yet.
More good news is that every capital ship in repair yards repair at least 1 point of damage this turn - several repaired 2... I have several BBs that have been repaired back into the usable range, but will remain in port as I have no use for them.. So I might as well keep repairing them until they are 100% or I have use.
My subs have spotted several allied TFs moving to and from Lunga so I have reassembled CV Group 1 (at Kwajelein) and sent it steaming for Lunga. It will be a couple days before it reaches the islands, and I hope it has success in hunting enemy shipping. If not, I will bomb the island flat.

Well the turn starts off with several IJA night air strikes. 46 Sallies struck at Akyab airfield. Reports indictae 5 Sallies were damaged. Reports also indicate that 3 Hurricanes were destroyed and 1 damaged on the ground. The Airbase took 1 hit, the supplies took 1 hit and the Runway took 6.
I also struck at Banjarmasin just in case any SBDs were around. 22 Nells and 15 Betties partook in the raid and suffered no losses. 2 airbase, 1 supply and 2 runway hits were scored with no enemy losses.
Rob conducted a night air raid on Kendari port. Only 8 british bombers were used - and they came in low (1000 ft) and managed to hit the CVL Ryujo with a single bomb. Ryujo is sitting in port awaiting fuel to leave - over 100k of fuel is enroute. Ryujo suffered moderate damage (17 sys) but no fires or flt (or they were fixed before the next turn).
A US ASW TF found an IJN sub and hit her with a depth charge. IJN SS I-171 suffered 9 sys and 28 flt and is ordered back to Wake for repairs.
In retaliation, IJN SS I-17 located and put 2 torps into an allied TK. The allied TK did not sink, but is far enough away from port that it should sink before reaching safety. Another IJN sub (I-20) located and struck the AV Wright with a single torp west of PH. It is not known if the AV will make PH or succumb to its damage.
An allied TK sank beneath the waves from previous damage as well - believe she was a victim of my aggressive subs.
Air and land combat in china reports 237 enemy troops and 1 guns lost. Reports also indicate 69 IJA men and 3 guns lost. In SE China my troops have forced two partial chinese units to retreat - this should disable the majority of the squads left and leave them with little to no supplies. Units are following to finish them off.
The damn 21st Chinese Corps is still holding on. Odds of 158:1 were achieved today, yet they refuse to surrender. 152 enemy men and 5 guns were reported destroyed. 194 Men, 5 guns and 2 tanks were reported lost by IJA troops.
My aircraft in Luzon struck at Clark Field, causing 15 men and 2 guns lost to the 91st PA Div. The arty strike on Clark caused a further
Fighters from Kendari struck at the 2 remaining PT boats at Koepang. Reports indicate PT TM-4 struck by 12 shells in the straffing runs.
My troops will land at Rabaul this turn - thus I am bombing the ground troops there in preparation for battle. I am landing more men at Gasmata this turn as well so I can capture the base before combat gets serious at Rabaul - so hopefully the troops there will just surrender instead of retreating into the jungle.
I am also capturing Dili (on Timor) this turn and am landing men at Jesselton (Borneo) as well. I have just picked up a single squad and will land them on Andaman Island in a couple turns to scout out the enemy troops there.
Troops from Manilla are moving north to Clark Field to help in the soon to be launched attacks - most importantly another ENG regiment is being sent - will give me two there - and these should help bring down the forts fairly fast.
I have halted nearly 100 Mitsubishi Engine factories - which still leaves me with roughly 200 surplus engines per month - my converted Nakajima factories are coming online as well.
I just had 2 DDs recieve the first AA upgrade (2/42 upgrade)... It caused 14 sys damage and they now have 135 AA - WOW !!! 3 of them now equal a CA in AA... This upgrade is quite impressive... The rest of the 2/42 upgradable DDs are enroute to Japan - escorting either damaged ships or resource/oil and will be upgraded ASAP...

That would have been the Mutsukis, there are some even better upgrades ahead of you, e.g. the Kamikaze class (169, 4-42) and the Shiratsuyu class (186, 6-42).
But don't put to much faith on this, as they still do not compare to any allied shipborne AA, as you can see in my Link: little mishap.
btw: just seeing your production statistics, did you accellerate some ship building, e.g. the Yugumos (radar-equipped DDs), CVs, ARs, MLEs, Yamato...

Yes I have been accelerating ship building since day 2 - first day you're allowed access to the screen. I have been accelerating 2-3 CV/CVLs constantly, as well as close CVEs. I have also accelerated the first couple DDs with radar and as many TKs as I can. I have not accelerate the Yamato - as the price tag is steep and I have no super need for it. I have converted 20+ AKs and am accelerating a good chunck of them (like 10 ARs) and the MLEs. Other than that I'm not really accelerating much else.

Even with halting the Shinano (which i assumed you did) you still don't run out of naval shipyard points?
Yes, I halted the Shinano.. as for running out of naval shipyard points I don't keep that much track of it - I'm sure I'm running at 0 or so extra but so what... I think this turn I had 9 extra, but it will be gone next turn I'm sure - I usually run a slight surplus one turn and none the next - no point in trying to save naval shipyard points...

2 February 1942
The turn started off with several ASW attacks by both IJN and US warships - nothing was hit on either side though.
Rob continued with his nightly bombing of Yenen - this time catching a Nate on the ground and damaging it - along with a single runway hit.
My night raid on Akyab was met by 3 Blenheim night fighters which did nothing to help him. My 35 Sallies destroyed a Liberator and damaged 2 more on the ground, while collecting 2 airbase, 2 supply and 9 runway hits as well. A single Sally was damaged in the raid.
My troops finally arrived at Rabaul this turn.. The 4th Regiment unloaded during the night and day phase and took some minor enemy arty strikes - my return fire inflicted more losses than his did.. The 4th took decent losses during landing - 383 men, and 51 coastal guns fired at my fleet - no hits.
My MSWs discovered and worked on a mine field at Tarawa.
IJN sub I-172 located and attacked a US TF. The sub surfaced and raked the AK Admiral Gove with its MG, as well as planting 2 torps into her side. The ship did not sink, but I doubt very much she'll make port.
My bombers attacked Lanchow (finally) and ran into some P-40Es... Several Sallies were shot down and the rest continued onto the airfield, where they claimed 1 Blenheim IV destroyed and 1 damaged. They also claim 37 enemy men, along with 1 airbase, 1 supply and 8 runway hits.. In total 8 Sallies were destroyed (about 50/50 between fighters and flak). A costly raid, which won't be continued until fighter cover is available.
A small air raid struck at Palembang (8 zeros, 26 Nells and 30 Sallies) - 1 Sally was damaged during the raid. The bombers claim 2 supply and 8 runway hits.
Another raid hit Macassar airfield - 35 Nell and 26 Betties. No losses were reported, but 2 Beaufort V-IX and 1 Do-24K-2 were claimed destroyed along with 2 Beauforts claimed damaged. 1 Supply hit and 31 runway hits were also claimed.
I also struck at Bataan airfield this turn - the only logical place Rob could be basing his recon planes that keep scouting the area. 8 Vals and 33 Anns hit the field - 1 of each was damaged in the raid. They claimed 1 PBY destroyed and 1 damaged, as well as 5 airbase, 4 supply and 21 runway hits.
I also tried a trick and struck at Broome's port from Kendari. Two groups of Nells were assigned and 35 planes flew the mission - 5 Nells were damaged in the raid. They struck the port and hit the MSW Burnie with a single bomb, setting her on fire again. It seems Rob still has some ships in this port which is kinda odd since it is very much exposed.
Chinese bombers struck at the 1st Parachute Regiment - as they are still marching home to Hanoi after their failed attempted at Kunming. 86 men and a gun were reported hit.
Air and land combat in china claim 168 men and 5 guns. My men once more achieved high odds (156:1) against the 21st Chinese Corps - but they still refuse to surrender. Makes no sense. IJA units lost 419 men, 3 guns and 1 vehicle while inflicting only 35 men and 2 gun losses. What am I doing wrong ?
My air raids on Rabaul claimed 195 men, 1 vehicle and 3 guns at a cost of 7 damaged bombers.
Bombers attempted to hit a TF at Balikpapan but were intercepted by CAP. 1 Beaufort was shot down and another one damage with no IJN ships hit.
My sub commandos have captured Dili base on Timor and I need to decide if I really want to reinforce it and hold it, or simply fade back into the water.. Not sure what to do.
Rob has made an all out effort to bag my CVs at Kendari. He has at least 6 subs in the waters around the base (South and East only) looking to bag the ships.. Not sure if he knows it or not, but the 2 fleet CVs escaped this turn and will be speeding away towards Palau and out of his grasp - leaving the baby CVs there.. The baby CVs may be gearing up for another strike at Broome to finish off anything there and perhaps a hit at Koepang as well. But they are waiting for the fuel to arrive which seems to be roughly 4-5 days out - provided subs dont nail the TF.

I'm sure some are, but I check every few days (for a couple days straight) and make sure the ones I'm worried about are progressing and they are. My second batch of converted ships are falling a little behind, but I'm not worried about them. In roughly 6 weeks I will have my first batch of converts on the water and can then accelerate the rest if I want... I have also halted a bunch of merchie builds - AKs and APs as I have plenty at this point and would rather spend the extra points on the converted ships I want - and CVEs.

Another day and the Empire continues forth.
My Minesweepers have appeared to finish cleaning up the mines at Tarawa making it safe once more for my forward subs deployed from here. My ASW efforts are proving insufficient against the horde of allied subs around Kendari... but at least my fleet CVs have gotten away safely.
IJN sub I-23 located and attacked crippled ships fleeing PH. This sub - along with a couple others - have been chasing this TF from a few hexes East of PH and have finally caught it off the west coast. The sub attacked and put 2 torps into the CL St. Louis causing heavy damage. A few moments later the sub attacked again, this time putting a torp into the DD Jarvis. Both ships will probably make port at San Fran, but with a little luck they won't and maybe I'll even catch them again next turn to inflict some more damage.
IJN Sub I-15 located and put 2 fish into an allied TK most likely crippling her. It is doubted if she will make port.
My sub force is declining rapidly as I rotate subs back home to Japan for repairs. I currentlyhave 1 sub in Japan for repairs, but 6 or more on the way home.. Most of them have low damage - around 10 - but a few have 30+... I also have 3+ subs heading to port for reloads - this will lower my sub presence around PH for a week or so while these subs retire to Wake, reload and return to stations.
I bombed Akyab yet again at night. This time 5 Blenheims were aloft.. yet once again they did nothing... In the raid I lost 2 Sallies (4 damaged) and destroyed 2 Blenheim fighters and 2 Hurricanes on the ground. Another Blenheim and 3 Hurricanes were damaged. I also put 7 more hits on the runway. Its just a matter of time until Rob gets sick of this and hammers Rangoon with a major raid... I have 72 Oscars at Rangoon (4 groups) at 50% CAP during the day, so hopefully any raid will be chewed up. I am also moving AA units there as fast as I can - lighter guns have been flown in, heavy ones are enroute via rail.
I landed roughly 20 men on Andaman Island and they shock attacked the british force there. Unfortinately it seems Rob is intent on keeping this island, as he has the 44th Indian Brigade stationed there - roughly 3300 troops and 30 guns. Not sure if this is the whole Bde, but it could easily be. My men put up a little fight before they were wiped out. Once Sumatra falls, Andaman Island will fall as well.. Hopefully Rob will move in some engineers and build me an airfield before I get there.
I have also landed troops at Menado. I don't need the base, but it sits in the middle of my SLOC between Balikpapan / Kendari and Palau and seems to have a lot of aircraft there. I am shock attacking this turn with an NLF and a SNLF unit - should take it easily. Hopefully Rob will leave the aircraft there and I can wipe them out.
Sallies based in Hanoi bombed the city of Kunming today, causing 5 Manpower hits. Kinda odd, since I was aiming for HI. No losses were sustained. I am raiding the city again ths turn - aiming for HI again. Basically I'm bombing here to weaken his supply situation - I'm thinking he is burning supply to repair everything here.
I bombed Bataan Airfield again with only 1 damaged aircraft. My bombers inflicted 9 airbase hits, 4 supply and 38 runway hits. They also caught 4 men, 1 gun and 1 PBY on the ground.
In china my air raids and land combat inflicted 64 men and 1 guns lost on the chinese. I shock atatcked the 21st Chinese corps again and did good this time.. Only had 38:1 odds, but inflicted 84 men and 5 guns destroyed with no losses on my end. Maybe they are about to break ? I hope...
My CVs were fleeing Kendari and passed by Menado and were attacked by 16 Brewsters set for Naval attack.. My CAP shot down 10 of them and the rest missed.
I have a bunch of air units set to arrive in 9 days - 7 units. Also in 15 Days the Junyo will arrive - and the Unyo will arrive in 29 days [both are accelerated etas]. In 32 days I will have a nice load of ARs, as 10 are scheduled to arrive. The Yamato is still plugging away with 105 days til completion - so I should see here in mid May... Not sure when the Yamato historically arrived, but I should be close.
CV Group 1 will come within range of Lunga this turn as well. I have all bombers standing by for naval attacks and the accompanying CS has its search planes out. I have kept all planes but ASW Petes and fighter CAP grounded until I came within range so Rob wouldn't see me spotting anything and know I'm there. Hopefully I will catch a bunch of ships in and around Lunga. My subs have a TF spotted at Lunga - bunch of APs.. They've been there a couple turns, so they are probably empty except for supply, but I'll sink them if nothing else shows up.

4 February 1942
The turn started off with more men landing on Rabaul - mostly my secondary support troops - Base Force, CD guns, some AV troops, etc... The coastal guns decide this time to actually hit some ships, hitting 2 PGs with a few shots.
I also unloaded some more sub commandos at Gasmata to bolster the men there so I can actually attack and take the base next turn.
Rob continued with his nightly air attack on Yenen. This time his 3 Hudsons got 2 runway hits and claimed 2 Mary on the ground. I returned the favor hitting Akyab again. I lost 1 Sally and 3 damaged to flak, but claimed 1 Hurricane, 1 Catalina and another Liberator destroyed and another 3 planes damaged. I also claim 21 men, 3 airbase, 2 supply and 7 runway hits.
IJN Subs did a good job this turn... Starting with 3 torps into the AK Julia Luckenbach along the far right edge of the map. I have been trailing this TF from Diego for about a week now and this is my first attack.. It seems to consist of 1 AK and 3 DDs... I sunk the AK and was rejoyced at the 25 B-25C Mitchell Bombers listed as OPS loses in the air losses report [:D] Looks like I caught another US bomber group heading to Oz... Sub I-18 escaped with injury, despite the report of a depth charge hitting her. I will follow the TF 1 more turn to make sure there are no other merchies with it before heading for home. Rob seems to put a couple of merchies into a TF with 3-4 DD escorts and skirt the map when he is carrying air groups... Perhaps this will help me identify which TFs have a higher priority target ? South of PH another IJN sub put a torp into the AO Brazos, setting it on fire and causing heavy damage. It is unlikely she will make port.
I bombed Kunming again with my Sallies, this time reporting 2 Manpower hits... I cheated a bit and looked at the numbers in the City Attack screen and noticed that I have been damaging HI, not Manpower... Odd... Does it always list Manpower hits when you hit HI ? I have very little experience in city attacks... I also took no losses again on the raid.
A fighter sweep over Pagan consisting of 16 zeros found 2 Hurricanes and 5 P-40Bs on CAP. A little battle erupted in which I lost 1 zero and 1 Hurricane and 2 P-40Bs were shot down. Good fight.. 1:3 odds... I like those. A similar fighter sweep over Taung Gyi found no CAP [:(]
Air raids and land combat in china claim 84 men and 2 guns destroyed. The 21st Chinese Corps once more took losses without giving any back.. I have ordered all units there to conduct a Shock attack - hopefully this will force the unit to surrender.
A lucky Dutch air raid near Kendari nets a single hit on an ASW PG. The ship will limp back to port and should survive. My CAP did little to protect the TF.
CV Group 1 located an allied TF at Lunga and hammered it with 2 separate air raids. Almost all aircraft launched on both attacks and devastated the 6 APs spotted. Of the 6 APs, 4 have been sunk and the other two brutallized. CV Group 1 is moving a bit south and will keep its Kates on Naval Attack, while sending the Vals to hit Lunga Airfield. I'm sure Rob is building one.. time to slow it down some.
Near Saigon, an IJN ASW TF located and hammered an allied sub. 4 Depth Charges are claimed to have hit SS O23, sending it to the bottom.
On the ground my men attacked Clark Field. In a day long, bitter battle, me men were repulsed but inflicted greater losses upon the enemy then they suffered. They also reduced the fort to level 3. IJA losses: 1493 men, 33 guns and 3 vehicles. Allied losses: 2232 men, 76 guns and 1 vehicle. I have ordered a Shock Attack this turn and with a little luck (and help from all nearby bombers to cause disruption on enemy troops) I will drive the allies from Clark.
My men also captured Menado base. My losses were low: 91 men and 2 guns, while I captured over 2800 allied men. No my SLOC are clearn from Southern Borneo to Palau. Next step is the systematic capture of the rest of South/Eastern Borneo - in fact troops are at the Samarinda now and should capture it this turn. Next will be Tarakan and Amboina - which will protect my SLOCs and deny Rob any real air bases in the area.
My recon reports on Sian shows only around 6 enemy units there. I am guessing this counts 1-2 partial Corps, plus at least 1 base force / HQ unit. I have ordered my men from Homan to march along the rail to Sian and they should arrive in 2-4 days. Roughly 4 divisions are on the march and they should be enough to capture the base with its precious oil intact.
I also unloaded some more sub commandos at Gasmata to bolster the men there so I can actually attack and take the base next turn.

5 February 1942
Like most of the last week or so, the turn started off with the nightly bombing of airfields in Burma. 3 Hudsons attacked Rangoon, claiming 2 runway and 11 IJA troops hit. 38 Sallies from Rangoon said hello to Akyab (again). 3 Blenheims were aloft, but did nothing. 1 Sally was damaged in the raid which destroyed 2 Blenheims, 6 Hurricanes and 2 Hudsons on the ground, as well as damaging another 3 Hurricanes. The bombers also scored 1 airbase, 1 supply and 21 runway hits.
Rob must be sick and tired of my nightly air raids on Akyab as he hit Rangoon airfield in force during the day phase. The first raid was small - only 3 Martins and 6 Hudson.. They didn't hit anything and 1 Hudson was shot down, along with another damaged and 1 Martin damaged. The next raid was 9 B-17s and 15 LB-30 Liberators. My CAP (25 Oscars) engaged. 1 Oscar was shot down, but no enemy planes were shot down, although roughly 10 were damaged. The bombers missed my planes, but put 4 hits on the runway and caught 100+ men and 2 guns in their blast radius. These bombers came all the way from Dacca.
52 Bombers from Bangkok appeared in the skies over Andaman Island and proceeded to bomb the airfield there. No planes were lost, and 1 supply and 2 runway hits were claimed. A single Hawk 75A was flying CAP and it did nothing.
Air and arty strikes in china claim 77 enemy troops and 0 guns.
My air strikes on Clark were good.. 137 enemy troops and 4 guns were damaged in the raids which cost me 2 Anns, 1 Val and 4 planes damaged. The air strikes were followed up by another Shock Attack which inflicted 1181 men and 41 guns destroyed on the allied troops. IJA troops suffered 1863 men, 45 guns and 3 vehicles lost. But all forts have been reduced at Clark.. The next attack may capture the base [:D]
My Sallies at Kuching bombed the 107 RN Base Force inflicting 69 losses a few moments before half a brigade attacked, driving them south into the northernmost base on the West coast of Borneo. The Brigade is heading south to capture these bases.
Robs dutch aircraft from Amboina (I think) got lucky and dropped a bomb on an ASW MSW east of Kendari. The ship took massive damage but will make port.
Rob's ASW finally caught up with my subs, hitting I-159 with a single depth charge. The sub has massive flt damage (68) and is heading for port - it is unknown if she will make it.
Rob's subs finally scored after what must be a 2 week lull.. SS Searaven struck an IJN MSW with 2 torps sinking it.
Two Naval Guard units arrived at Samarinda last turn and captured it this turn easily. Allied forces were forced to retreat north heading for Tarakan.
Rabaul still holds out after an unsuccessful Shock Attack. IJA troops took massive losses while inflicting around a dozen losses on the enemy.
I have also captured Sandakan on the east coast of Borneo and troops took Gasmata on the Bismark Arch...
CV Group 1 is heading south at full speed to clear out the seas around Noumea. Rob has to have ships in the area - evident by his landing troops on Lunga already. If nothing is found, CV Group 1 will refuel and head East looking for incoming TFs from the States.
At Saigon and Camrahn Bay troops and supplies are being loaded onto TFs for the upcoming invasions of Miri and Brunei. Enemy air power is non-existant in Borneo, so its a good time to grab these oil rich bases and begin shipping oil home.
Troops at Singapore have been standing down for the past couple days and are resting while awaiting the arrival of the 4th Eng regiment, which is currently at Johore Bharu. The Regiment should arrive next turn and then the final drive on Singapore will begin..
Air assets at Johore Bharu are warming up for the Singapore campaign by bombing Bankha (sp ?) base in Sumatra. Rob has some scout planes stationed there so I'm gonna attempt to hit them on the ground.. The entire wing stationed there is involved in the raid - 2 groups of Lillies, 2 of Sonia and 1 of Anns.
In china, my men approach Sian and I begin to amass air power in Nanning for the push northward. I believe Rob has been too worried about me taking Lanchow, that he has moved a lot of men to the north and now its time to see just how many men. Rob has roughly 4 Corps (all in partial units) all over the lands north of Hanoi and Nanning and I will soon begin rolling up on those units and pushing them north. BUT, I need to wipe out the 21st Chinese Corps first - and they are still holding on, despite 200+:1 odds this turn. ARGH !!! [:@] They are really upsetting me and slowing up my time table...

6 February 1942
Once more the turn starts off with nightly air raids... Once more Rob's Hudson raid on Yenen is useless - nothing is hit. My raid on Akyad proved much more effective.. 1 Sally was destroyed and 2 damaged, but they claimed 1 Blenheim, 1 Martin, 1 Catalina and 1 Liberator destroyed and another one of each damaged. The Sallies also hit the airbase 3 times and the runway 11 times and caught 22 men lounging around.
Rob also tried another daylight raid on Rangoon with 3 Martins and 5 Hudsons. One of each were shot down and another one of each damaged. I suffered 1 damaged fighter - no losses. These bombers are coming in at 25000+ feet and can't hit crap from that high... I've concentrated my CAP at 5000 feet to catch his low level raiders which have been doing all the damage.
My air raid on Bankha (Sumatra) was a success as well. 4 Bombers were damaged from flak, but they claimed 3 Lockheed 212s (What the heck is this plane ? A transport ?), 1 Wirraway and 1 F.K. 51 destroyed with another one each damaged. They also placed 11 hits on the airbase, 8 on supply and 54 runway hits. That should close down that airfield for a couple days. All planes are standing down for a turn for the upcoming campaign to captured Singapore - which will be hell on my aircraft...
Rob bombed my troops at Sian inflicting 11 men and 1 gun losses. My men shot down 1 Blenheim and damaged another. He also bombed the retreating elements of the 1st parachute regiment - they still haven't reach safety yet. The losses were heavy on this unit - 171 men and 2 guns.
In china, my aircraft and arty strikes claim 118 allied troops. The 21st Corps is still holding out and I've decided to stop attacking it and will simply use arty and aircraft to bomb them into the stone age.
At Clark my aircraft hit 115 men and 2 guns and inflicted some nice disruption for the upcoming bayonet charge. As the smoke was just clearing from the air raid, over 130000 IJA troops rushed the defenders. In a short battle, 1177 IJA men and 35 guns were lost, but they inflicted greater losses on the enemy and captured Clark Field. The retreating allied troops left 1519 men, 48 guns and 2 vehicles on the field as they retreated to Bataan. Now all of Luzon is mine except for Bataan. I'm planning on waiting a week or more before moving on Bataan, just to give my guys some rest (and replace losses) as well as force Rob's men to consume supplies. I will move my aircraft to Clark and begin bombing Bataan daily starting next turn.
My division at Sian performed an arty strike doing no damage.. But the intel gained shows 3 full Corps and 1 partial defending the city - not enough as the rest of my units moved in this turn. I am conducting an attack and should have the city in a couple days.
The attack at Rabaul was a dismal failure... again.. Why is Rabaul always so hard to capture ? I've had easier times (with less men) at other bases... but Rabaul is always a pain for me. I have ordered the troops there to stand down and perform arty strikes as I gather a second wave from Truk. It will be 4-5 days before they land.
Rob performed a Shock attack at a northern base - Tabun-Nur. He has a partial corps there against 2 parts of a Mog Cav Div. The cavalry held on and inflicted nearly 250 losses (while sustaining none) on the attacking troops.. The Chinese Corps then decided to retreat (odd ?) and they retreated towards Russia .... I have a feeling his unit has been pulling supplies from russia (which they are not supposed to do) and now has escaped the trap I have been working on for almost 3 weeks (units move slow in these parts). Now there is no way I can catch the unit and surround it again and will have to leave men here to garrison the area to make sure the chinese unit doesn't reappear sometime later and take the base or cause other trouble...
CV Group 1 has not spotted any targets and will patrol the area looking for something to drop bombs on.
My fuel TF (carrying over 100k of fuel) is 1 day from Kendari. Unfortunately it must pass through a hex containing at least 1 allied sub. I have something like 10 ASW escorts with it and will hope they don't spot them (passing through the hex at night too). Then next turn I can fuel up all my ships at Kendari and get them out of there. I have spotted at least 6 different subs around Kendari and there are probably more - my ASW TFS have attacked a couple times, but have yet to hit anything. I have even converted some Nells to ASW search to help.
