Another good day for me...slow...limited action. He has begun some pretty heavy bombing of Akyab trying to root all my fighters out of there. My guess is that big air battle we had a few days back hurt him ....alot. He also continues night air missions against airbases the "Molly Brown" airbases. I guess twice burned is enough for old Xarg. My bombers went after Kendari...got a port hit...nothing else, time to get them out of there no doubt the Xargun night express will be visiting soon.

My destroyers are claiming a sub south of San Diego. He has changed his deployments quite a bit for me to catch one of his subs this far south.

He also made major air strikes against Bataan today, surprising since i still hold Clark.

West Coast

All’s quiet.

Midway

Nothing new..

Pearl Harbor

Decided to send all 3 fighter groups to south pacific…embarking and routing them.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

nothing new here.

China

Nothing new.

Burma

I have moved 27 Squadron into Akyab to deal with his night bombing…I hope.

Malaya

Waiting for Singapore to fall.

DEI

I still have two squadrons of SBDs on Timor, they will be moving to Australia tomorrow. After that they will begin the long ride to join their flat tops at Brisbane or Syd. I moved some bomber up to Borneo again..(Beuforts) he has some shipping in the straights again I would love to see them take a poke at.

Australia

I have decided to send the 7th to Gili….they are going in two transport groups.

PM

Nothing new.

Noumea

Not much new..lots of supplies flowing in here…not a lot of troops yet..

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

My CD units and AA are ashore….troop levels are coming up slowly here, but not enough to stop him if he wants it. He will be in for a nasty surprise though if he shells it with destroyers. The AF is now 49 percent complete

Carrier Group One.

Steaming towards Sydney

Carrier Group Two

Steaming south towards Auckland

11 days until Hornet is available.

Might night fighers got up after his Sallys over Akyab damaging just 1, better luck tomorrow nite I hope. The invasion of Rabaul has finally begun with a night landing.

In the morning he went after Lanchow with an unescorted group of Sallys...bad for him, elements of the 24th Fighter Group (P40) tore them up dropping at least 5.

He also had Nells deposit bombs on Broome...unescorted...

I sank one of his subs south of Guadalcanal, bet he thought he was about to pounce on a nice fat transport group, not 8 warships...including destroyers.

Dont expect your night fighters do do anything. My brit Blenheims have intercepted maybe ten times now and have lost 6 Blens to 0 Sallys! Night fighters are totally crap, the bombers they are supposed to intercept are much better. You won't have any better luck with yours I think.

The only things of note today was his attempted submarine landing (commandos) at Andaman, they met 3000 defenders...opps. Also he has landed at Mendo where I just moved a bunch of dutch boys trying to catch his retiring fleet carriers...time to pack their bags

He continues to pound Akyab at night. It might be time for me to start pounding Rangoon from the air during the day.

I have to say one thing...they may be abundant, but hurricanes versus zeros is a mismatch. I have never done well against zeros with the canes....I will upgrade them the instant I get the chance.

His carriers paid a visit to my supply ships at Guadalcanal. About time...been wondering where they were...time to hunker down here and wait for the next Xargun storm.

Today, Menado fell

West Coast

No new sub sightings.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

My shipping losses are higher then I prefer….last turn (not including the Guadalcanal attacks by air) he sank 5 Aks . I need to come up with a way to better protect them, I simply don’t have enough destroyers to patrol my shipping lanes.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Is secure.

China

No major moves here other then my divisions moving in the North part of the country. We both are trading air attacks primarily.

Burma

Well my night fighters fly and as predicted do nothing. I am going to attempt to hit his airfield hard by air during the day to help the accuracy. The Akyab, Mandalay, Lashio line is now well dug in. Fortress building is a bit slow in Mandalay, but I believe I have plenty of time before any major move on his part.

Malaya

Waiting for Singapore to fall.

DEI

I will now concentrate on defending the book ends of timor. He has now begun to clean up pockets of Borneo. No doubt due to my Molly Brown operation. Hopefully this has set off his timetable a bit.

Australia

The Enterprise and Lexington are in Sydney where I am putting their slightly depleted but reinforcing airgroups back aboard them. After that I hope to join them up with Carrier Group Two currently enroute for some raiding in the South Pacific.

PM

Nothing new.

Noumea

Not much new, very insecure area. I am very nervous here. Ground troops are still a week or more away. I have a nice supply head built up, but he could walk in and take the place at any time. Im hoping he will expend his energies against lunga, thus the reason I have sent all the forces there…give him something to shoot at while I build up Noumea.

PI

The seige of Clark and Manilla continues

Solomon Islands

It is my hope that his carrier air will begin raids against Lunga. Where I have two fat AA units stationed.

Carrier Group One.

he expressed his disappointment with his commando raid with a 50 plane bombing of Andaman Island this morning. Clark fell to him today, leaving just one spot of Allied goodness left on Luzon. He lost 1400 troops in a shock attack against rebaul...love those big mountains. The only other news is my big American heavy bomber raid went off over Rangoon today netting some very good results, there will be plenty more of these attacks against his airfields.

West Coast

No new sub sightings.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

A lot of his subs and moved between Canton and Pearl (half way point) IM moving destroyers along my regular lanes to try to root them out.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Starting to base some of my S boats out of here…shorter distance to the land of the rising sun.

China

No major moves here. I wonder if I am right about his southern push.

Burma

Heavy night air attacks on Akyab aren’t doing much damage to the runways but they are killing hurricanes like mad. I am going to move them north to ride out this storm of bombs. I sure hope they fix night fighters in the next patch.

Malaya

Waiting for Singapore to fall.

DEI

Nothing new..

Australia

Nothing new..

PM

Nothing new.

Noumea

Still awaiting ground forces, plenty on the way , but still many days away…right now a one eyed monkey with a hand grenade could take the place.

PI

And then there is Bataan.

Solomon Islands

It is my hope that his carrier air will begin raids against Lunga. Where I have two fat AA units stationed.

Today would be the day that will always be mourned by Merchant marine sailors everywhere..the great Tanker turkey shoot by Xargun. His subs attack at least 6 south of Pearl...I have been kinda using them to root out his subs down there, but I didnt expect the slaughter to be quite so high...I have some ASW assets in the area to deal with it, but ouch. I did get one of his subs of Gili...so all wasnt bad.

I ran a raiding/bombardment mission at Rabaul and ran into 170 coastal guns. Ouch. He hasnt even taken the place yet and is already defending it. It cost me one destroyer with 2 others heavily damaged. Even worse I found his carriers south of New Guinea. What's bad about this is I was sending elements of the 7th Aussie into Gili, so there will be some losses, what's good about this is this was the smaller of two groups I can divert the other one until the latest Xargun Typhoon gets bored. Based on the number of aircraft I think there are at least 3 carriers here. During the daylight hours that surface raider group I sent up caught a small group of minelayers of Rabaul...shooting up 2 of them. Sadly, the group of three is down to 1 and he wont last long due to Xargs carriers and the damage the Edwards has already taken....this raid was a miserable failure.

West Coast

A sub torpedoed the damaged New Orleans as she made her way north about 300 miles out of SF. Heavily damaging her. I will watch the float level if it goes up I will have to scuttle her.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

Nothing new.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

He has started to move north towards Lanchow from two directions…it appears I’m wrong about his intentions.

Burma

He bombs Akyab during the night, I fill the holes during the day.

Malaya

Waiting for Singapore to fall.

DEI

Nothing new..

Australia

With the arrival of Typhoon Xargun’s carriers I have suspended all shipping operations and ordered everything south to Sydney where I hope they will be secure, I do not see him venturing that far south, no doubt he is searching for my carriers and doing some anti shipping raids, its possible he will strike PM, and some of the northern aussie citys.

PM

His attack on my gili scout force will sink 5 Aks and 2 destroyers before he is through. I have 65 troops on the ground at gili, basically a speed bump if he intends to land there. I believe he has at least 3 carriers committed to this op/raid.

Noumea

Nothing new.

PI

And then there is Bataan.

Solomon Islands

No raids…yet.

Carrier Group One.

I have taken the precaution of ordering this carrier group to sea…they will steam south for a day or two and then turn north for New Zealand where the will merge with carrier group 2.

Carrier Group Two

Steaming south towards Auckland

4 days until Hornet is available.

Appears to be another painfully quiet day...for him. Xargun needs noise explosions and death to sustain his war machine. He torpedoed a couple more tankers, as always destroyers are on the scene.

West Coast

His new sub patterns are frustrating me. Those damn planes that he uses the scout my shipping are priceless.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

Oklahoma apparently caught a torpedo as it began its transit to San Francisco. I’m turning her around and sending her back to Pearl. California will continue to slowly make its way across the Pacific.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

I have stood down all my Brit bombers in preparation for his assault on Lanchow. He has about 125K troops in Sian right now, so his main thrust will likely come from there. I will rest the bombers and wait for his troops to begin to surge forward before I begin the air assault. Currently I have about 160K troops between him and Lanchow. My side operation of 3 Chinese divisions is slowly moving east, I think he has spotted it, but probably believes they are more partisan units. South China remains a mess.

Burma

No bombing for the last two days. He is probably just resting his Sallys. No apparent ground movement by him either.

Malaya

Heavy bombing here.

DEI

Some zero fighter sweeps by him but nothing obviously offensive lately. I continue to slowly (painfully so) build up Koepang. Fort level is now at 2 and I am flying in what is left of the 22nd Aussie from Singapore.

Australia

He is searching for shipping with his carriers. Happily I got the early alert and all shipping is fleeing south. That being said he can easily reach 2 destroyers (heavily damaged) and the convoy bearing the 7th Aussie who is making a run towards Rockhampton. I will try to cover them with friendly air, but I will like lose some ships as his Typhoon is now located about 5 hexes north of Rockhampton. I believe he is attempting to goad me into countering him with my Carriers he believes are in the area. I will not give him battle with them at this time.

On a side note, once again I find myself begging my B-17s to attack the enemy carriers. They are at Charter Towers, size 7 airfield enough supply, (a little low on air support) but dammit some of them should attack the carriers. Very very frustrating.

PM

Most of the ships his carrier damaged are in serious float trouble. I am trying to get them to PM.

Noumea

South Pacific HQ and the 78th FS (P39) are now about 3 days away.

PI

And then there is Bataan.

Solomon Islands

I have a minelayer enroute. Lunga’s airfield is almost finished, I don’t have any fighters in the region yet, but some are enroute….though they are still several days away from Noumea

Carrier Group One.

Lexington and Enterprise

South of Sydney for 2 days then east to Wellington.

Carrier Group Two

Saratoga and Yorktown

Southeast of Pago Pago steaming south towards Wellington.

2 days until Hornet is available.

I am considering something I call operation Doolittle. With all his carriers forwardly deployed (as far south as Australia) I believe I can slip Hornet north of Wake and south of his home islands and interdict his shipping. At worst I could be spotted by long range land based air, but I seriously doubt he has any naval assets in the area and the possibility of forcing him to account for a marauding carrier would be nice and no doubt slow his operations down like “molly brown”.

Freaking sub hit the New Orleans again...I think he has radar, I have changed directions zig and zagged and he still finds her....GRRRR...she freaking sank.

In a definite opps, Edsall and Edwards ran into Mutsu and Katori off Vallea while fleeing towards Lunga...

I did happily depth charge a sub off Pearl when the sun came up

He sent a bunch of unescorted Sallys over Kungchang...six of them didnt return home.

I sent a 40 plane strategic bombing mission over Rangoon today (B24s and B17s) got a single manpower hit out of it.

He also sent bombers out of Rangoon to attack the port of Diamond Harbr hitting several AKs I had parked there.

And all that was just the morning...

West Coast

I am still using the bum rush pattern for naval shipping. He is having some successes against all those tankers I sent out which to me is good…oil I have plenty of…troops not so many, better for him to use torpedos against the fuel then the soldiers.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

Oklahoma is at 70 float but should arrive tomorrow. ….grrrr.

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

He has begun to move towards Lanchow via Sian rode. I will begin to bomb his lead elements.

Burma

His attack against Diamond Harbor has me sliding transports out of harms way. The 7th BG (B24) attack against Rangoon was very effective, but naturally the morale of the group has plummented after a single strike. It’s hovering at 37 now. I will be send them out again, and no doubt have to rest them for a week to make them effective.

Malaya

Heavy bombing here.

DEI

More commando landings…not much I can do about them at this point.

Australia

No sign of his carriers….No doubt they are lingering hoping mine come out to play..

PM

I have moved the 19th BG (B17) in. They will bomb his ground forces at Rabaul for a day or two before retiring back to Charter Towers (no doubt with zip for morale.)

Noumea

His carriers may well be headed here for some target practice. The timing would be horrible since the South HQ and a fighter squadron are about to land.

PI

And then there is Bataan.

Solomon Islands

Looks like the minelayer will make it here. Good.

Carrier Group One.

Lexington and Enterprise

3 days out of Wellington

Carrier Group Two

Saratoga and Yorktown

South of Pago Pago, a solid week out of New Zealand

1 day until Hornet is available.

Interesting, I just watched 12 Liberators bug out over Rangoon...damn 7th bomb group. Their morale plummets so quickly they are all but useless. The seige of Rabaul continues, he tried to shock attack here today, but only managed to kill about 500 of his troops. That extra 1000 troops I put here are really slowing him down alot more then I could of hoped for :).
