HQ Cheat Sheet

Post by Skyros »

I started a sheet after some discussion earlier about what HQs and leaders do. This sheet is for HQs. If I get some positive feedback I will do others and send them to Spooky. Most of this is cut and paste from the manual. I will format and clean it up when complete.

All comments and suggestions welcome.

Why do you call it "cheat" sheet?

Its a "cheat" because I am putting bits and pieces of the manual and other info on one sheet or so. Something dishonest people might do when taking an exam. Although profs would sometimes let you bring one 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper with whatever you could write on it to an exam.

Nice condensed info.

Why don't the non-theater HQ's have the ability to pull supplies. This might actually make them more important. Let's face it, 10% bonus for Corps HQ's, that's really not that great. Unless you have an army there. In that case it's not a Corps. (Allied point of view)

How about setting up some cheat sheet with names of good Commanders? I don't remember right now the names but Barb's and Wahoo's commanders are awesome sub skippers.

Dick O'Kane was the skipper of the Barb. "Mush" Morton was the second skipper of the Wahoo. Her first skipper was named Kennedy, and if he's the one assigned in WitP as he was in UV, his numbers are not so good... (He wasn't a good skipper in WW2 either).

Other good skippers for subs:
Ramage
Coe
Fluckey
Dealey
Dornin

That's just off the top of my head. A couple of MOH winners in there, plus a TON of sunk ships. I can list more if people are interested...

It looks like it could be useful. One addition that would help is defining if the HQ is a assult, rear area or front line HQ for choosing leaders.

O'Kane was also the XO of the Wahoo (IIRC). Wake of the Wahoo was my book for Chiefs initiation :-).

Yes, O'Kane was captain of Tang and exec of Wahoo -- he and Morton were a particularly deadly combination in that boat. "Clear the Bridge" and "Wahoo" are two of my favorite books (incidentally, I think it's O'Kane in one of these who makes the point that a submarine is never referred to as "the whatever," it's just "whatever" -- just one of those little bits of trivia).
