I know i know. That's my biggest worry. The fact is that i can honeslty say it was not my fault. Since the first turn of war he used the bunker tactic, especially with his air groups. Now planes at PH at the 7th dec, no planes in Malaya, nor in PI...now at Java...still no planes...the only air battle we fought was over Rangoon, where the AVG, with the new rule, made my a bad surprise.
Not much i can do right now. i'll probably frce him to commit his bombers now with CODE 1 going on, but so much time has been lost, and his air power encreased so much in these months...

Code 1 on the way
Operation CODE 1 is going undetected. Now my convoys are next to Tavoy. The two Bomb TFs have been ordered to start the pounding of Rangoon and Mouleim. They will be based at Tavoy, where a big Tanker TF will wait for them.
My second para operation went smoothly. One of the most important chinese supply bases has been conquered by the 3rd Yokasuna SNLF from Bankok. This will scramble a bit the back lines of the chinese front.
Some more AP/AKs are moving towards Singapore.
Benjarmais occupation is near.
i did not forget Yellow Marble ....[:'(]

[:D] Good good good
My second para operation went smoothly. One of the most important chinese supply bases has been conquered by the 3rd Yokasuna SNLF from Bankok. This will scramble a bit the back lines of the chinese front.
Some more AP/AKs are moving towards Singapore.
Benjarmais occupation is near.
i did not forget Yellow Marble ....[:'(]

the first rain drops...
well, the allied bombers trying to pound my guys at Reaghen had a bad surprise today: My zeros were on LRCAP from Bankok and managed to shot down 15 enemy bombers at 5,000 fts. I lost 4 zeros ( 2 a-a, 2 op). That's bad, but i think is related with the non experienced crews that i have in that daitai( my mistake to forget the "accept replacements" on).
He finally saw my TFs, 2 hexes from Rangoon. 7,000 men are spotted there defending the city. Tomorrow the first landings will occur. The bombarment TFs started to open the way. Tomorrow more bombardments are programmed. I want to engage all those bombers sitting at Mandalay and Akyab. 3 zero daitais and one Oscar daitais will LRCAP from Tavoy. The KB1 will help staying in those waters, preventing any attempt to smash my ships by the RN. 4 units will be paradropped at Pagan, ( another unspellable base west of Pagan) and Lashio, moving from Tavoy and Bankok. This will scramble his supply lines and force him to move some troops from Mandalay.
In 2 days my 3 divisions will try to force the positions at Reaghen and Mouleim, while the Nells and Betties at Bankok will give long range cover over the Bay of Bengals.
Tomorrow will take place another attempt to break the resistance at Manila. At Hengchow only the engeneers will attack, while the other units will bombard.
In New Guinea i'm thinking to open the ostilities at Lae, sending a base force there. Will probably wait some more turns , in order to launch the operation for Gili gili and for Lae at the same time.
Benjarmais will be invaded tomorrow. The Bali and Kreaghen(sp?) will be next. 2 zero daitais will give air cover from Balikapan.
Tomorrow will be the DAY.

CODE 1 started!
The invasion of Rangoon( operation: CODE 1) has begun. 3 divisions have already landed at Rangoon with 3 eng regiments. All the para drops have been succesful. The Burma Road is nearly closed.Something like 130,000 allied troops are threatened in Burma.Manila fell with almost 80,000 defeders. Tomorrow should be the time of Hungchow. Despite heavy aerial losses(16 zeros shot down today!) and another daitai disbanded, i can say it was a good day for the empire.
Tomorrow we'll assault Benjarmais, setting up the future invasion of Java.
Only a CL is reported hit, with 20 floating damage(already comming back to Singapore) and a Sub which is almost lost around Midway.

Rangoon fell
At the first attempt my men conquered Rangoon. Now the Allies are risking the Pocket and they will be forced to abbandon their positions in Burma. CODE 1 begun in the best way!
Another mistake made with Ranges caused my the loss of 12 zeros even today. the 30 allied air losses do not compensate my priceless pilots' death. I gotta be more carefull in this micromanagement.
Benjarmais fell and my navy units have been already loaded and they're sailin Towards Kregen and Bali, while a mixed regiment should arrive east of Batavia in 1 week.
When Bataan will fall i will pack my 4 divisions at PI and send them to JAVA, while the other divisions will go on with CODE 1 and Burma.
In China my 2 envelopes are slowly making progresses...we'll se in a couple of weeks if more 200,000 chinese could fall in my bag.

Rangoon fell easy, but there should be more allid LCUs in Burma/India area, so where they are?
Oh yes mate, there are a lot of troops there! I've counted 40,000 men(14 units) in Reaghen,35,000 at Mouleim, a totalof 13,000 on the rail way between Rangoon and Mandalay , 17,000 at Mandalay and 28,000 at Akyab! The 18th UK Div wasn't on the first line of fre, so probably it's located at Akyab or at Chadpur to act as a back-reserve.
What really matters now is that if....if, if if if ...i manage to envelope and destroy all the allied units between Reaghen and Mouleim, the entire Burma front will collapse and positions at Mandalay and Akyab will not be suitable anymore for a defense. The doors of India, in this possible scenario , will be open. I can use the men who took Manila , to conqer Java and, at the same time, keep on going the offensive in Burma. Keeping the KB2 in the South Pac will force him not to dare to try an early invasion of Lunga or Tarawa and at the same time, with KB1 with his 300 a/c i can face a possible allied carrier intervention in the Java area....too optimistic?

RE: Rangoon fell
A little too optimistic in my opinion: no enough troops to attack both Jave and India, but maybe I'm wrong....[8D]

RE: Rangoon fell
just a thought:
from my PBEM with frend, i know that Chinese have problem with supplies. So, it's not suprising that you stabilised chinese front.[;)]
But, i came to idea to reduce even more chinese supplies by strategic bombing, so i put 90 sallys on resource attack. Hey, they scored 30 recource hits in Sian, and my recon reported me that only 7 (of 50) resource are still in use. Since Sian has not additional supplies i'm hoping to starve those troops in the Sian. I will report if this strategy works (because my opponent and i sharing informations after turns)...
maybe it is not a bad idea to try, especially if your opponent leaves sky upon the china empty and at the same time mass troops in cities....(please keep in mind that other chinese cities can have additional (secondary) source of supply so you can only reduce supply in those cities...

RE: Rangoon fell
After some days of forced stop for a working trip we're back with the war.
My Zero pool has 110 zeros ready, with a production of over 200. i'm quite confident about that.I will post the pool screen;as you will see there have been a lot of changments in my industry. I did not read yet your thread about zero/claudes Pauk, but if i understand you, you mean that converting the whole calude daitais to zeros costs you your reserve of zeros. I have to say that i've already converted all the claudes, but always keeping an eye on the pool.
probably i expressed badly my thoughts. I do not want to take India and Java at the same time. What i'd like is to destroy as much allied troops as i can in Burma,in order to get two things: a lot of Vpoints in the bag and secure the whole Indian front.
British BBs are stationed at Diamond Harbour. I've already mined it with my subs, but i'm thinking about making a trip up there with my KB1...I'm not sure yet, cause i know that i'm gonna lose a lot of priceless pilots in this way and my pool is already at 0...and in a size 9 port the chances of sinking a BB are almost 0.
This turn was a boring one. Nothing important to note.
About the strategic bombing in China: It is a good idea, for sure, but at the moment i need those bombers not to let the sieged allied troops to keep on fortifying. When the railroad will be open i will start with it at Sian.

RE: Rangoon fell
So now i have 3 divisions at Rangoon, plus a Brigade and 5 arty units. This army should be enough to close in a big pocket the 2 allied armies that are holding Mouleim and Reaghen, while a division will march towards Mandalay. The Burma road will be closed in 1 week by my brave 2nd Para Rgt moving from Lashio. The next objectives for this area are:
1-Destroy and capture the 100,000 men that are holding the Burma front.
2-Conquer Mandalay and close the Burma Road.
then i will have to make a choice if to keep on pushing towards India or to leave the area and concentrate myself in the pacific theatre. If i decide to go for india, i will have to move 5 or 6 daitais of Sallies in Rangoon and start a massive bombing Campaign of Akyab and Mandalay. More than 150 allied a/c are base there. At the same time i will have to commit my KB1 to bomb Diamond Harbour and to block and damage the RN BBs. At Akyab there are 25,000 men. Probably the 18th UK division is somewhere between Chandupur and Dacca. There should be space for a future invasion of Chandupur and for another big pocket for the bad guys stationed at Akyab, but this will suck out most of my resources( both men and ships) that i need for Java and to secure the Timor Area. It's not an easy choice, 'cause i know that all those bombers and fighters, if not promptly destroyed and drained, will ruin my days in Indochina in the next future. At the same time i know that not having conquered Wake in December and with PM already at level 4 AF, I need more forces to secure my perimeter and eventually push forwards in the South-East Pacific area....
Any suggestions?

RE: Rangoon fell
If I was you, I'd scrap the India plan. Too risky - well, one thing you cuold do is advance up to, say the Diamond Harbor line. Then the front is shorter and you can concentrate your forces for defense.
Once you're bunkered up against the Brits, you can shift forces to the Pacific. That's where he can relaly hurt you. [:)]

Possible BUG game-Killer
Thanks for the suggest Alikchi, but now we've got a BIG BIG problem:-(
My opponent have just told me that there's a BUG or something that prevents him from retreating his units in BURMA. He's asking me for a cease-fire in that Theatre in order to let his units retreat.
He said that when he saw my MSWs sweeping the mines out of Rangoon he understood that i was going to invade Rangoon and tried several times to order his units at Reaghen and Mouleim to go back and retreat to a safer line, but he was not able to do that, so now his 100,000 men army is f***ed. I'm sure i'm not having this problem, cause i moved back many units in these weeks from the Reaghen front for logistical reasons. Now, in one hand, i'd be glad not to abuse a hole in the game for my advantage and not to be unfair, but in the other hand i've committed 21 units in this CODE 1 adventure( the capture of Rangoon and the creation of this big pocket) that could have been used against Java 3 weeks ago...and we all know that for Japan 3 weeks is a Damned IMPORTANT time....
If i let his units retreat in order, i will lose all the advantage gained and will have to face a 150000 fortified men at Mandalay( so to say i will need a 5 division army to crack Mandalay...divisions that will not be used for Java or whatever). But i do want to play fairly and honestly and do not want to be gamey.........
any advice guys? what shall i do? Have u ever experienced this bug?
Thanks[:(]

RE: Possible BUG game-Killer
My advice is for your opponent sending a save to Mr.Frag or somebody else at Matrix, clearly explaining what he did. I think they can tell you if there's a bug or he's doing something wrong.

RE: Possible BUG game-Killer
Ok, i think i get what it's going on. He's saying that each time he ordered to move to his troops, after my next turn Bombarment/attack the moves got back to 0/60 miles. I think it's a known issue. BTW we're getting on an agreement to keep on playing.
Thanks

RE: Possible BUG game-Killer
we agreed on some specific rules in order to by-pass this problem: I'll move back my units to Rangoon and let the RR free for his retreat. Only when his units will be 120 miles north of Rangoon the land operations will rebigin freely. I will use this time to reconsider my whole strategy: i lost a lot of time for this and now i cannot make any mistake if i want to keep on advancing.
85 ships have been spotted at Diamond Harbour. I will consider a Port attack with nells and betties for the next 2 or 3 days. If needed the KB1 will be committed for this task. A Landing at Chandupur with 4 divisions is also something that is stimulating my mind. Close the Burma door and trap again 200,000 men.The point is that now i do not know if the units that are conquering Luzon will be enough for Java...

RE: Possible BUG game-Killer
Well, after the gentlemen agreement the war is going on. He's fortifying nonoumea Atoll and that's a problem, cause from there he will reach Tarawa with his bombers, so i must keep an aye on it and try to do something. He's also using fast trasport to bring men to Gili gili. I must speed up my ops for the COME BACK operation( my KB2 is now 4 days from Truk).
Near java Bali has been conquered and I put my men ashore north of Sosarebia. Now that Luzon has been liberated i will launch op Yellow Marble.
In China i put 160,000 chinese in my bag.Now the way to Canton is Open!BANZAI!
in Burma i decided to bomb Akyab, after having seen that there are no mines there. 6 BB will do this job. Tomorrow 50 bombers will strike the AFs at Mandalay. After this operation KB1 and the zeros based at Rangoon will cover the Bombardment TFs towards Akyab.
Betties and Nells are ready at Bankok. they will be transfered at Rangoon for the Diamond Harbour port attack scheldued for next week.
