Horrocks Streamroller Eindhoven Railbridge

Post by springel »

Recently I played Horrocks Steamroller online as the German.

I suffered a marginal defeat because the enemy succeeded in infiltrating along the secondary roads.

I was surprized however to see armoured fighting vehicles in Eindhoven north of the canal while I still had all three unblown canalbridges covered.

I analyzed the situation later with trial movements, and then I saw that units could cross close to the rail bridge in the south west of the City.

I don't know wheter this is because the western intact bridge 'extends' too far westwards or because the railbridge is not really blown in the game mechanics.

On a related issue: what is the meaning of 10% speed for a crossing: how long is that 10% applied? how can one relate it to the time it takes to cross (like crossing a stream with armour?)

Ins't it simply because the British used some of their bridge building units ?

Just a thought,

No, I talked with him afterwards.

He prepared to use them, but didn't need it.

I have just played this from both sides and as allies I got across evetually. As axis I see what you mean all of a sudden there was armour and inf across teh other side even though I had blown one bridge and was denying the other as long as I could. I watched them cross over and attack my troops from the flank....[&:]

Richard Winters: Why?
Col. Sink: Damned if I know
