First hand view

Post by Supervisor »

Hello,
This is to let you know that I am part of this team and because of my location, I will be working directly with Joel Billings and Gary Grigsby writing up the game's manual. Image This gives me a first hand view of ongoing developments

I live very close to both of them and we plan on getting together about twice a month in person so I can be tutored on the game as there is no manual now.

Brent,

Lucky dog. A few questions about base defenses and AAA. What are the base defenses for Port Moresby during the Coral Sea timeframe? I've seen alot of different AAA listings and nothing consistent. What do you guys have for defending that base? Any good source book on the defenses of Port Moresby and/or Lae?

Currently on May 1, 1942 we have 2 AA units in Port Moresby with a total of:

12 90MM
8 40MM
8 37MM
16 20MM

I don't know where Gary got this info.

Will UV "default in" units for all specific dates then? For example, starting a campaign on Aug 1 1942, Port Moresby has xyz units, Guadalcanal xxzz units, Lae has x units, etc etc.

Or will the player have the option of "placing" units in certain locations from an "defined pool" of available units?

Set ups in each scenario are preset and cannot be changed by the player. However, in every scenario a unit is given a standard reinforcement time. For land and air units the reinforcement time is changed by +-15 days every time a scearnio begins, so there is some variability from game to game as to what starts on map and when reinforcements are going to arrive. Something similar happens for ships but there's also a commitment issue of getting the ships assigned from Pearl Harbor/Japan to the South Pacific. This commitment issue is another step that can delay ship reinforcements.

preesh-nate the prompt reply!

This game has potential to be incredible!

Will there be any kind of "editor" that players can employ to design there own scenarios?
