He changed his night bombing tactics over burma and went after Pagen today after days of hitting the empty airfield at Akyab. Good for him, Pagen is empty except some recon birds.

My b17s got off the deck at PM today hit him ground troops at Rabaul....cost a few deaths and hopefully helped slow things down there.

Some air to ship action off Timor nothing significant to report though in the way of hits.

His carrier caught poor Edsall south of Lunga...sorry to hear it the old girl wont last the nite.

My forces retook Baker Island from him, a lil destroyer born commando raid.

West Coast

Hunting subs.

Midway

Is quite secure.

Pearl Harbor

Oklahoma is at 62 float. It will be a while before I try another run to the west coast.
Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

Nothing new..

Burma

The 7th Brit armored is in Karachi. I will march them south to the Akyab Mandalay line, I thought about transports, but the Burmese coast is no longer friendly due to his airpower.

Malaya

Singapore claws for life.

DEI

He has a task force headed out of Kendari made up of at least 10 ships including APDs. No Idea on the direction, but if he heads towards Timor my air should give him a fun time.

Australia

His carriers are off Lunga, I will hold off for a few days before I resume my shipping to PNG.

PM

The 19th BG (B17) struck and their morale sank to 43, they probably have one more strike against Rabaul then I am going to have to send them back to Sydney for R and R.

Noumea

South HQ is here now more troops on the way/

PI

Bataan hangs on.

Solomon Islands

Is now mined. J Got a 1 level airfield here now too, all I need is planes, as soon as his carrier goes away I will add them.

Carrier Group One.

Lexington and Enterprise

2 days out of Wellington

Carrier Group Two

Saratoga and Yorktown

South of Pago Pago, a solid week out of New Zealand

Carrier Group Three

Another realitively quiet day considering a war is on. His subs continue to make life hell for me, can't wait for jeep carriers. We traded blows here and there in the air, but beyond that...not much happened.

In China he has begun pushing in towards Kungchang from the east and south east along the roads.

Another mostly quiet day in the Pacific...

A major land based air effort against Port Moresby may have begun today as he pounded the port with Nells and Bettys out of Truk.

My Blens continue to hit targets in and around Sian slowing is march on Lanchow there.

His carriers are now south (at least 3 of them) of Lunga, he bombed the poor illfated Edwards into the surf.

His forces northeast of Sian drove my defenders back towards Kungchang as he continues his move towards Lanchow...things don't look happy unless I can somehow pick up an extra 100K of chinese troops in this area.

He also struck east of Lanchow driving the defenders there back as his twin pincers race for the Northern Chinese major supply area.

To date his ASW has been more effective then mine:

West Coast

Hunting subs.

Midway

I flew in the 11th BG (B17s) today. Their morale is the standard for my Bombing command…garbage…but they will only be conducting naval searches at least until I can get their morale above 50.

Pearl Harbor

Nothing new

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

Nothing new..

Burma

No major ground thrusts in Burma yet…which is somewhat surprising frankly, since he is on the clock. I believe Xargunites currently dying in Singapore will be part of any thrust against India, so the longer that citadel holds….I am at a loss of what to do with the British navy currently swinging on anchor in Karachi. I receive Formidable in 26 days which will mean I have 2 RN CVs and 1 CVL, but what to do with them?

Malaya

Singapore claws for life.

DEI

He has been making fighter sweeps of Timor…no doubt that will continue in the coming days.

Australia

His carriers are south Lunga, harassing shipping there…well what there is.

PM

Leaving the 19th in PM for another day, their morale is crap, but their bombs are helping slow the Xargun tide at Rabaul.

Noumea

Lots of troops are about a day and a half out, base, combat, and others….once they hit the shore New Cal becomes the centerpiece of my south pacific defense line.

PI

Bataan hangs on.

Solomon Islands

In one of those, this is a strange frickin game…suddenly I have PBYs based here. Now I don’t remember moving any there…they have HQ for Australian command. I can only think the game moved them there. At any rate…it’s not good news…with his carrier just south of this place Im sure they will attract lots of bombs L.

Carrier Group One.

Lexington and Enterprise

1 days out of Wellington

Carrier Group Two

Saratoga and Yorktown

Several days out of Wellington

Carrier Group Three

Hornet

In Seattle

Really bad day for the Americans.

I found two more of his carriers, they are off of Noumea, really historically bad timing for me considering all the crap I had due for the place today and tomorrow. He caught a bunch of warships in Noumea lead by Louisville and Minneapolis, both sank. Suffice to say, he killed me here, He also pounded 3 transport groups chocked full of troops all bound for Noumea...and not a goddamn thing I can do about it but watch them sink. As much as I want to respond with my flatops (4 of them within 2 days sailing time of the area) I will not.

I did happily beat up and sink one of his subs south of Timor.

Damn. I guess this falls under the old, it's never as bad as it looks in the combat report. He has me snookered for sure. He has at least 3 carriers just off Noumea, two more south of Lunga, my guess he is using them to cover a big op. Unfortunetly, my main Noumea transport groups arrived in the area at the same time. I have a division of combat troops, two seperate aviation support units and several other support type troops all lambasting under his pounding...maybe. We are about to seriously test the game's AI. I scattered all the transports...into individual transports groups, something like 35 ships all going seperate directions. I also scattered my three damaged warships, the Louisville and Helana are haul ass in different directions, while the Minneapolis is going to ride this out at anchor as she is badly badly damaged. The remaining destroyers are going to make an attack run (he is well within range of them) at his carriers and then haul ass east. It will be a target rich envirnoment, but I am counting on the fact that his naval air is much less effective when attacking in twos and threes then as a group and there wont be a mass slaughter. It should be a very very entertaining turn. I also sent in a group of Hudsons to Noumea to attempt to harrass his carriers, but since there are no support troops on the ground there I doubt they will launch. South Pacific HQ (Nimitz) arrived just in time to watch his command sink into the deep blue ocean.

I have ordered both Carrier Groups one and two to rendevous 2 days east of Wellington (CG 1 is in Wellington) at that point the will transit to Noumea, they are still two days apart, CG2 is low on fuel and the meeting point is at least 3 days out of Noumea. All these factors will combine to assure they dont get into range of his carriers fast enough unless he comes south chasing individual transport ships. If he does, I will attack his naval air, after three days of wave hopping after wayward transports, Im sure his offensive firepower will be low and maybe I can get a naval victory out of this disaster...at any rate any possibility of this is still almost a week away, the next few days will be spent watching this disaster play out.

He also has a carrier group (no doubt his minis) headed southwest towards Timor, so he could finally be making his move here too. Hopefully my boys can give him a fight.

In what will no doubt be a hell of a book when it is written Edsell continues to dodge his northern carrier force now trying to make for Efate....

Sorry for the haphazard nature of these, Im writting notes as I take them as oppose to my normal structured way, Ill return to that in our next episode.

If you could get the jump on his CVs.. well. A February Midway would be significant to say the least. [:D] Do you know if he has the whole KB?

You have to save those aviation regiments.. av support is at a premium in Oz at this point in the game..

A large air battle over Lashio today where his zeros beat up on my hurricanes.

Off Noumea, He hit 2 of my 3 destroyers early and nothing else. Operation scatter worked well in the AM.

In the PM my dutch planes flew out of Timor and took a poke at his mini carrier force. It is headed south again no doubt towards Broome, and maybe Darwin, I will whistle up air power to see what kind of reception I can have for him.

Off Noumea, he attacked individually, the AK Mormacwren
and the destroyer group again. That was it. Operation Scatter worked incredibly well in its first day. No doubt he is frustrated seeing all those fat transports and get zero (well 1) kills. Allen (destroyer) sank.

In China, the 21st continues to hold on again an amazing amount of attacks. They have been holding him up for more then a week 120 miles east of Hanoi.

It will appear that Bataan has just days left as he continues to reduce the fortifications...now at 2.

West Coast

Hunting subs.

Midway

11th BG (B17s) morale is up to a big 46, not bad for a unit stationed in Hawaii the whole game…not.

Pearl Harbor

Nothing new

Wake

Is his.

Alaska

Nothing new..

China

He is battering away towards Lanchow. When he arrives at the gates of the city he will find a well supplied force of a hundred plus thousand behind the walls of a level 7 fortress. The siege should be long and bloody.

Burma

He continues sweeps over Lashio and Pagan…the hurricane remains ineffective vs his zeros. The 93rd (Liberators) morale continues to inch up, now at 60, in a day or two I want to try another 50 plane raid over Rangoon, see if we can get those fires burning.

Malaya

Singapore claws for life.

DEI

The dutch toke a poke at his minis, hopefully they will get another shot at them today.

Australia

Mini mes are inbound I will shuffle air around and hopefully do some harassment.

PM

The 19ths morale continues to plunge….I have decided to hold them over for just one more day and try to get them to attack some of the naval shipping I see around Rabaul.

Noumea

Operation Scatter worked very well in day one, I believe the bulk of my troops will be saved. That being said, he will no doubt change his tactics to try to get a few more sinkings. 3 Aks with aviation support troops are landing at Noumea. Its still a target rich environment, we will see how well his Task Group commander plans the day.

PI

My west coast ASW forces caught one of his subs off San Diego.

Xarg threw the weight of his Malayian bombing force against my heavy bomber bases...they got in untouched and shot up the field with min losses on his part. His heavies also went against PM this morning...unescorted my Wirraways there got up and shot up 17 nells...might be a few days before he sends them in without escort.

His mini me carrier force made another appearance against Broome, I left some MSWs there to attract his bombers. I hate to lose sweepers, but as always I prefer to let him use his combat power against support ships.

My sad sack B17s out of PM put a bomb into one of his AKs off the Admiralty Islands.

In a bit of a suprise the Hudsons I moved to Noumea in a vain attempt to harrass his Carriers went after a Cruiser force he moved into the port attempting to pick off some of the ships offloading troops there....what Id do for a few dive bombers :)....they didnt get any hits..but his Vals put bombs into two transports.

A busy AM phase to say the least.

In the PM turn those crazy New Zealanders put two 250 lb bombs into the Atago....bet shooting up that harbor wasnt as worthwhile as he thought.

His Vals swept in again and pounded the two or three ships at Noumea.
His Kates went after ships fleeing north to Efate

Burning Atago attacked 3 AKs in port, sinking 2 of them.

As many AKs as he picks off, i have to say I am satisfied with Operation Scatter and the abilty of my merchant crews to survive and get the hell out of harm's way so quickly, it could of been far worse.

He started the day with his 3 cruisers sinking more of my AKs at Noumea. I guess he is really irritated his carriers were so ineffective. When the sun came up B17s out of Noumea put a couple of 500 lbers into Atago.

He also sped his carriers west and caught up with a transport group i hadnt splintered, full of supplies...grrr. Its a painful loss but again, Id rather having going after supply ships then go after the ones full of troops.

All in all I have avoided a huge disaster here at Noumea...good for me. Soon I hope to be causing him disasters instead of figuring out how to avoid them

West Coast

I have ordered Hornet to depart Seattle. She is steaming towards Dutch Harbor. When she arrives I will evaluate the situation and decide whether or not to give Operation Doolittle a go.

Midway

I transferred the 11th BG to Canton, they will probably end up in Suva if his carrier groups remain in the area. I will make runs at them.

Pearl Harbor

Nothing new

Wake

Alaska

Dutch Harbor has been built up rather nicely and will now serve as my main submarine operations depot.

China

Nothing new

Burma

My B17s with the help of some Chinese airplanes attacked Rangoon, and will continue to do so in the coming three or so days. Hopefully the Liberators will join the party out of Akyab

Malaya

Singapore claws for life.

DEI

The minis have vanished….I wonder if he would work them down to Perth.

Australia

Gearing Perth up for a fight.

PM

Didn’t look at the 19th today. Will return them back to Charter Towers tomorrow.

Noumea

Despite him catching and sinking that transport group south of Suva, he can’t possible consider this operation much of a success knowing how many transports he failed to take. The overwhelming majority of my troops will be put ashore at Noumea in the coming days. Both my carrier groups are inching towards a possible encounter with his 3 carriers in the coming days I just hope I can keep him interested.

Operation Doolittle sounds good. Although it's a pretty transparent distraction op, you can still force him to move forces around.

Now, if you can catch his CVs after they've used all their ammo on your AKs.. well, that would be fantastic..

A rare daylight bombing for rangoon, My wimpy liberators turned back, but the Beauforts went in and shot up the airfield a bit. He also pounded Akyab with heavies, im not sure what to do about that. He doesnt damage the af, but i cant keep planes on the ground here either.

His forces landed on Baker Island this morning. The landing included a fireworks display by at least one battleship and at least 600 troops. Looks like that area is part of his defense zone. I will weigh option on counter landing and taking it back from him again as he does not have a lot of forces in this part of the Pacific.

Chasing Subs

Midway

Pearl Harbor

Canton Island

I have decided to add Canton to the list of areas I watch due to his counter invasion of Baker Island which cost me about 300 men. For him to send a battleship in to help assure that Baker fell tells me he believes the area is more important to his central strategy then I first thought. I have also decided to “build” Canton up to a first class citadel. It already has a size three airfield there. I have the 102nd RCT 3 days out of Canton…they will provide defense. Yesterday I moved the 11th BG (B17s) to Canton with the intent to fly them on to the Auckland or Noumea, those orders are canceled, they will operate out of Canton. I will also send a second base force and engineers to Canton. Once I build Canton up I will use it as the leading edge to reinvade Baker and hopefully draw his forces in for a fight around my land based air.

Alaska

Dutch Harbor has been built up rather nicely and will now serve as my main submarine operations depot.

China

Nothing new

Burma

The 7th is resting at Colombo…the wimps….I have two big supply groups loading for Chandpur and Akyab, I expect his bombers to come out and play….in about 4 days or so.

Malaya

Singapore claws for life.

DEI

Nothing new here.

Australia

He spotted poor Java making a run for Perth. He didn’t send any bombers out yesterday, but I would expect waves and waves from his minis today. The 19th is resting in Charter Towers, once I get them back up to 60 or so its back to PM for a couple days at his ground troops in Rabaul. The 7th Aussie is reloading at Rockhampton and preparing to head for Gili again.

PM

A transport group arrived today bearing the 21st FG (P40s)…no more free rides for his bombers.

Noumea

Despite him catching and sinking that transport group south of Suva, he can’t possible consider this operation much of a success knowing how many transports he failed to take. The overwhelming majority of my troops will be put ashore at Noumea in the coming days. My british ASW forces picked off a sub near South of India.

Flight Officer Jackson scored 4 kills over China to give him 7 for the war today.

My land based air out of Broome went after his mini carrier group off the North Coast today. No hits, but hopefull that will send him backwards and away from Australia.

No sign of his carriers South of Noumea...dissappointing actually.
