Amphibious landings?

Hi all,

On the screenshots some of the hexes have sandbeaches (with the red dots). Is that where amphibious landings are possible or can they be done everywhere? Also what the **** is a F5A Lightning, never heard of it?

It's the Photo-Recon verson of the P-38.

Hello...

Beach landings can be made on any hex with a dot that is adjecent to the ocean.
