Regions-info screen

This is "region info screen" where you can see various stats about regions. Since in our game there is no FOW you can see stats for every region that is in the game. Perhaps it will be that way even with FOW implemented since these are regions not military units - I don't know.

Could you explain the different columns, please? First is certainly the no. of factories, but what follows exactly then?

Factory points (after multipliers), resource pool total, population pool total, factories, resource centers, population centers, rail units, rail capacity (current/total), partisans.

Each rail unit has a capacity of 40 for it's area. It's the thing that can be bombed or will get damaged when the area is captured. They don't move. Areas with rail generally have 1 unit. Some major built up areas (Germany, France, England, US) have 2 so those areas have 80 capacity.

I don`t fully understand the movement of units yet.

1) You can move supply one territory without spending anything.

2) You can move a fighting unit within its movement points only with supply. Tanks need 10 supply to attack and infantry 5, right? Would a move of only 1 territory cost less for a tank?

3) You can move units "for free" within the capacity of a rail, i.e a undistroyed "double-railway" may e.g. transport 4 tanks and 8 infantry in one turn. The infantry goes "for free" in an adjacand territory whereas the tank can move 2 territories for free, right?

Btw.: At the screenshots I saw a capacity of 70 for a double-railway. Was it improved?

Correct. You can also move supply via rail, where it will consume one rail point in each territory it crosses.

2) You can move a fighting unit within its movement points only with supply. Tanks need 10 supply to attack and infantry 5, right? Would a move of only 1 territory cost less for a tank?

Each land unit requires one supply unit to move into a new adjacent terrority. Not 10 or 5. I tend to play Soviets, so someone else will need to speak to naval units (see Joel's post below re naval movement and second-area movement for armor). An example may be helpful here. If I have five units - two armor, one infantry, one artillery, and one heavy bomber - in Kiev, and I want to attack East Poland, I will need 5 supply to conduct the attack. As I move each unit into East Poland, I consume one supply.

3) You can move units "for free" within the capacity of a rail, i.e a undistroyed "double-railway" may e.g. transport 4 tanks and 8 infantry in one turn. The infantry goes "for free" in an adjacand territory whereas the tank can move 2 territories for free, right?

If by "for free" you mean without consuming supply, you are correct. They do consume rail points.

Btw.: At the screenshots I saw a capacity of 70 for a double-railway. Was it improved?

You were probably viewing a screenshot where someone had used 10 rail capacity already. Or, uh, as Joel points out below, a simple supply game.

Yes

You can move a ground unit 1 area for the cost of one supply. You can move armor 2 areas for the cost of 2 supplies. Fleets cost more to move 2 or more areas.

3) You can move units "for free" within the capacity of a rail, i.e a undistroyed "double-railway" may e.g. transport 4 tanks and 8 infantry in one turn. The infantry goes "for free" in an adjacand territory whereas the tank can move 2 territories for free, right?

Movement via rail and transports can travel as far as there are adjacent regions with sufficient capacity to carry them. Since armor costs 10 capacity and infantry 5, your numbers are correct regarding what a double railway area could transport through it's zone.

Btw.: At the screenshots I saw a capacity of 70 for a double-railway. Was it improved?

That was using simple supply (where capacities are lower due to the assumption that some is being used to move supplies). Using advanced supply rules the capacity would be 80.

Assuming that you have taken both Eastern and Western Turkey as Germany (and repaired the rail at least to level 1), could you transport supply all the way down to Iraq (if it is yours and the train is not "interrupted") and can you then still move one point further with the supply in the same turn to non-railwayed Peria?

Unless something has changed recently (which it could have - real life has kept me out of testing for a couple months) you can not combine normal (supply consuming) and strategic (rail consuming) movement for the same unit in the same turn.

And what would be the transport capacity of a transport ship (units and/or supply)?

30 advanced, 25 simple, but it's only 3-5 for amphibious invasion, which is separate.

How can you transport any unit in an amph. assault if it would be 3. I thought, inf already make up 5 (at least a rail) and tanks require 10?

Stack more than 1 transport.

In Africa (my gateway to the Middle East) I needed to move quickly before the Western Allies could reinforce their position. Taking a chance, I moved the entire Italian Fleet into the Med (the Western Med to prevent intervention by Force H, Central Med to supply my forces in Libya, and the Eastern Med for my invasion of Egypt).

Rather than wait for additional land units, I moved a transport unit into the Eastern Med & launched an amphibious assault on Cairo/Egypt directly. It was a risky move, but with only one infanty unit there at the moment - it was an acceptable risk. The gamble paid off & Egypt (along with free passage to the Middle East) was mine. I reinforced my position with an additional infantry unit & some artillery & look forward to securing my southern flank.

Image

In the screenshot of the opening-setup of the game, I saw 4 british units in Egypt (Cairo), but here only ONE is mentonned in the text. Please explain???

And if I look at the screnshot, don`t the numbers of 4 in CMD (left of 30/8) and 5 in EMD (left of 35/3) mean the number of transports, or what does it mean?

And I also read about at least 3 trn in the Baltic Sea in the starting-setup, so there may be a maximaum of 4 in the Med.
