graphics card question

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

Um, what are the minimum game requirements again? You may get some slowness and screen flicker but it ought to play as long as the card is DirectX 7 compatible. I'm sorry I don't know the specs more exactly. I'm writing this on my wife's iBook and I can't jump around as easily on it as I can on my other machines to find out.

Maybe you should repost this in the support forum. Alternatively, I will check it tomorrow again and see if I can give you a better answer.

Catphish,

You should be fine with those specs. I have a similar, though not identical, machine that it works fine on.

I have a P IV 2.5 MHZ with 512 mb ram and a 5200FX card. The display is set on my PC to 1024 x 768 32 bit colour. The game looks fine but the screen scrolling gets jerky on the larger scenarios which surprises me. (I have played with all the scroll settings and it
helps little) Is my machine underpowered for this game?

However It is certainly still playable and looks like a good game from what I have seen so far.

hobbes,

your machine is certainly not underpowered. I have a slightly faster cpu and a similar graphics card and everything runs smoothly. Are you running the latest graphics drivers and directx version?

Strange. I'll have to try a few more scenarios. The small one was fine, but there was
a noticable lag when scrolling the larger. Drivers and directx are up to date.

As I mentioned in my thread, I only have an integrated video adapter that shares my laptop's RAM. I have it set to 16megs, and I've run the two tutorials without problem.

You might try making sure that you've got all the settings on the card set to the default, in terms of the DirectX drivers. While the 5200FX is not a powerhouse, it certainly should be outperforming the old TNT card I have here that scrolls FPG smoothly on one of my backup machines.

Thanks Erik. I just tried the large scenario again without changing anything and it works fine. Maybe there is something running in the background on my PC, I'll check it out.

Can't wait to get into this game - it looks great. The cheap Matrix downloads are
too difficult to resist though :) It's like being able to push a button to order a meal to pop out from your TV when hungry.

The problem is the limited amount of time I have to play all these wonderful games.
Cheers, Chris
